We nurture our students to provide effective, ethical healthcare,
whether as cl in ic ians, nurses, pharmacists, researchers,
administrators or policy-makers, encompassing compassion, care
and intellectual curiosity alongside didactic and clinical studies.
Our programs attract talented, high-achieving students, who will
receive a rounded education that challenges them to appreciate
the complexities of medicine from the perspectives of both the
patient and the healthcare professional, and to recognize the value
of teamwork. They will also be instilled with the values of lifelong
learning and community responsibility.
The Faculty now offers 9 undergraduate full-time programs to
about 2,307 students: Clinical Medicine (8-year curriculum), Clinical
Medicine (5-year curriculum), Clinical Medicine (6-year curriculum,
taught in English), Basic Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Preventive
Medicine, Public Health management, Pharmacy, Nursing.

The faculty has been devoted in the innovation of medical
education in the latest decade. We offer general education
to all the undergraduate students. We introduce problem-
based learning and bed-side learning method in the teaching
process. And we also apply standardize patients and OSCE
in the assessment. The primary care course and practice is an
important part in the new course plan. The design of the course
reflects the following educational principles:
· Active Student-centered Learning
· Integration
· Community-based Experience

Undergraduate-graduate integration system and medical graduate
elastic credit system are innovation to implement graduate
cultivation system. We will introduce 10 to 20 curriculums
taught by Academicians, Cheung Kong Scholars and renowned
professors to build medical graduate exquisite courses and focus
on disciplines such as General Medical, Geriatrics and Stomatology
to fulfill the huge demands of national construction. We will
continue developing foreign graduate education to promote
globalization of graduate cultivation. As a member of U21 and
Go8, we plan to enroll excellent international undergraduates
into our graduate program and make strategic alliance with
international first-level universities and continue to promote
short-term visiting scholar and CSC joint cultivation programs.
In 2020, we plan to admit 30-50 foreign students per year.
We consider the graduate education as its linchpin of building into
a world-class and top in domestic medical schools. Our vision is
consistently putting “improving graduate cultivation quality” as
its core. Our mission is to improve the overall quality of talents,
enhance the standard and international competitiveness of
scientific research, and strengthen the capability to serve society
and national strategy. To devote major efforts on improving
the quality of graduate and raising the benefit of school and
contributions to building SMC into a first-level medical college in
the world.
Committed to exploration and innovation, SMC has been achieving
reform of medical graduate education. In order to suit the needs of
our country's medical construction and development, we have been
deepening reformation, improving enrollment and testing methods,
implementing the policy of training students morally, mentally,
and physically. Every year, we will recruit around 400 doctoral
and 700 master excellent candidates though innovative examine-
apply methods. Under systemic cultivation mechanism, students
are encouraged to gain and generate knowledge by research.
As the only one medical school conducting experiential Doctor of
Engineering program in Biology and Medicine, to cultivate eminent
talents, enhance competitiveness and social influence and role
demonstration model, SMC explore and improve the innovative
mechanism though promoting collaboration between college and
enterprise and implementing personalized elite graduate education.
To impel construction of professional degree and achieve junction
between medical professional degree and vocational training
through creating new curriculum and cultivation system, the share
of professional degree will reach 50% in 2020. Meanwhile, to
carry out reform on junction between professional doctor degree
on medical and senior professional talent training,
