Coucou! Voici la sixième édition de EF, le journal anglo-français de la classe européenne. Cette année, vous pourrez donc lire les aventures de tous nos apprentis européens, de la première à la quatrième année ! Je profite donc de cette colonne pour lancer un message à

Bilo je, ko sem govoril v jeziku cvetic,

bilo je, ko mi je gosenica šepetala na uho,

se hihital opravljivim škorcem

in zjutraj ogovarjal mušico v topli postelji.

You can have the whole universe if I can have Vienna.....

One word to describe the whole city – fairy-tale. Thousands of museums, marvelous architecture, beautiful

parks, pretty little cafes, you can find all this on the streets of

Vienna. Vienna is an ideal European city, similar to Barcelona,

Milan, London or Paris but there is something special about

this city. When you walk through the streets you have this

pleasant feeling of joy or maybe of belonging to something

delightful. You can actually feel the art everywhere. Also we can

consider Vienna as the most powerful and well-known core of

music. Shubert, Strauss, Shoenberg and Berg were all born

there. In addition, Vienna's music institutions are very famous.

People from all over the world go to Vienna just to hear and see

extremly talented singers, composers and other performers.

The whole city has a very warm and friendly atmosphere and it

is appropriate for entertaining and spending a quiet relaxed life.

Vienna is also well-known for its pretty little cafes. In these

cafes you may try extremely delicious cakes, like Sacher Torte.

Sacher Torte has also became a symbol of Vienna. The "Original

Sacher Torte" is available exclusively at the Hotel Sacher. The

recipe of the Hotel Sacher's version of the cake is a closely-

guarded secret.

As for me, I was in Vienna for just two days and it was definitely

not enough to discover the tempting secrets of the city. All the

castles I visited, completely enchanted me and the cakes I tried,

totally addicted me. Good memories is the only souvenir I took

from this charming city and I think it is the best of all.

Vienna - the city of high culture and old world charm - is the

perfect place to visit.

Words Are The Most Powerful Weapons

Imagine you have a really good friend and one day you start to argue with this person about something. You would probably not feel too pleased if he or she told you that you are a complete idiot, would you? I personally believe that words are one of most powerful weapons and that they have a huge effect on relationships between people.

To begin with, words can have the power to hurt and at times are not easily forgotten. Some people do not think about what they say. The words just rush out of their mouth. Before they realize it they have insulted or offended the recipient, even if that was not their intention.

Moreover, words can be a great »weapon« in court. If a lawyer knows how to use the correct words in the right situation, he and his client are probably going to win. It is the same story in the world of politics. For example the American President Obama knew exactly what he had to say during the elections to convince a great number of Americans to vote for him.

On the other hand, words are not always enough. One human being can lose trust in another because he does not express his true feelings. For example, when one individual is constantly offensive to another and then tries to make amends by saying something nice. Furthermore, a lot of the time actions speak louder than words. For example, instead of saying 'thank you' or even 'sorry' a big hug 'says' it all.

All in all, I think words mean a lot to all of us. Everyone should be careful about what they say and not use this strong »weapon« against people who deserve to be treated better.

Jerome David Salinger, Varuh v rži

O avtorju: Jerome David Salinger se je rodil 1.1.1919 v ______________. Z očetom ni imel dobrih odnosov, bolje se je razumel z mamo in osem let starejšo sestro. Starša sta ga vpisala na ugledno srednjo šolo, ki pa jo je čez leto dni zapustil in se preselil na vojaško šolo ____________. Salinger se je šolal na več zasebnih univerzah (med njimi na prestižni New York University) in tam podobno kot Holden ni niti poskusil zadostiti šolskim potrebam. Leta 1953 je Salinger spoznal ______________, s katero se je po dveh letih srečevanja poročil in se naselil v odmaknjene hribe v državi New Hampshire, v vasi Cornishe, kjer se jima je rodila deklica __________. Leta 1960 se jima je rodil še ___________,ki je kasneje postal igralec, znan pod imenom Matt Salinger. S Claire se je leta 1967 razšel in pričel vrsto zvez z mlajšimi partnerkami. Do konca svojega življenja je živel v osami. 27. januarja _______ je umrl naravne smrti na svojem domu v Cornishu v New Hampshire. Obnova zgodbe: Holden Caulfield je sedemnajstletni dijak, ki obiskuje _________. Živi v internatu in se druži s sostanovalcema ___________ in mozoljastim _________________. Štiri predmete ima ocenjene negativno, zato ga ________ iz šole. Sredi noči zapusti sobo in se z vlakom odpelje v New York. Ker je sobota, starši pa ga pričakujejo doma šele v sredo, Holden vzamev najem sobo v hotelu. V hotelski sobi nima kaj početi, zato se odpravi v bar. Ko se Holden vrne v sobo, se z zvodnikom dogovori, da ga bo obiskala ____________. Z njo sicer noče spati, vendar ji vseeno plača dogovorjen znesek. Prostitutka zahteva več, Holden pa ji razloži, da se je z zvodnikom domenil za ceno. Užaljena odide in se vrne z zvodnikom. Ta nekajkrat udari Holdena v trebuh in mu vzame denar. Holden se naslednje jutro odjavi iz hotela. Tava po mestu in se spomni, da bi lahko poklical ______, s katero se občasno dobiva. Povabi jo na predstavo. V tem času se Holdnu močno toži po mlajši sestrici __________, na katero je zelo navezan. Odloči se, da jo

bo na skrivaj obiskal, čeprav pri tem tvega, da bi srečal starše. Phoebe ugotovi, da so ga izključili iz šole, in mu ves čas ponavlja, da ga bo oče ubil. Holden ji da svojo lovsko čepico in se poslovi. Odpravi se k bivšemu učitelju angleščine, gospodu ______________. Antolini in njegova žena mu pripravita nekaj za pod zob in ležišče v dnevni sobi. Ko že skoraj zaspi, začuti, da ga gospod Antolini boža po čelu in laseh. Ves prestrašen se opraviči z izgovorom, da mora na železniško postajo po kovčke, in odide. Preostanek noči prespi na klopi. Zjutraj se odpravi pred Phoebejino šolo, da bi se poslovil od nje. Odloči se, da bo zapustil mesto in se podal na zahodno stran Amerike, kjer bo delal na bencinski črpalki in živel v koči ob robu gozda. Phoebe želi oditi z njim. Holden tega noče in ji obljubi, da se bo vrnil k staršem.

Glavna oseba: ___________________ je glavni lik v romanu. Je suhljat šestnajstletnik, ki ima že nekaj sivih las, zagrizen cinik, ki so ga ravno (spet) izključili iz šole. Je uporniški in odtujen najstnik, ki je kritičen do zlagane družbene morale. Je zelo negotov in se pred svojimi sošolci dokazuje s kajenjem in pitjem alkohola. Holden je hkrati predstavnik družbe in upornik proti njej. Po načinu izražanja je Holden tipičen pripadnik svojega okolja. Iz središča pa se izloča na veliko načinov: z verbalnim pretiravanjem, s pretirano občutljivostjo in ne nazadnje s poudarjanjem svojega nepripadanja. Holden je zelo nedružaben in ima težave z vzpostavljanjem stika z drugimi ljudmi. Ne mara filmske industrije, ker mu predstavlja prav to, kar sovraži - zlaganost. Kraj dogajanja: Holden začenja svojo zgodbo v Pensilvaniji, na svoji prejšnji šoli, Pencey Prep. Nato pripoveduje svoje dogodivščine v New York Cityju. Čas dogajanja: __________________________ Zanimivosti o romanu:

� _________: V romanu je uporabljenih veliko slengizmov. Salinger je bil ob izidu pohvaljen, kako dobro je zajel generacijski sleng. Ko so roman natančno analizirali, so med drugim ugotovili, da uporablja besedo “sranje” v sedmih različnih pomenih.

� Najti je mogoče nekaj podobnosti med J.D. Salingerjem in Holdnom:

o Oba prihajata iz New Yorka. o Salinger je v mladosti obiskoval tri šole v petih

letih, Holden pa približno enako število dijaških domov v istem času.

o Oba sta se morala izkazovati pred svojimi sovrstniki.

� Pripovedovalec: Roman je pisan v _______________________, da bi se bralci lažje vživeli v vlogo. Holden deluje kot pronicljiv, a obenem nezanesljiv pripovedovalec.

I'm a rather talkative person. I usually don't like unexpected things. When I was a child, I used to study a lot. I've always loved being with boys. I've never regretted having such a marvelous body. I'm used to saying the word marvelous. I wish I could find a marvelous husband. If only I could tell Holden that he's a pain in the ass. If I had been given a chance to have a plastic surgery, I would have it. Maybe I'll spend some time in rehab for saying the word marvelous. I'll probably become the sexiest woman on earth. Next month I'm going to go out with Stradlater.

I'm a rather vain person. I usually flirt with a lot of girls. When I was a child I used to be spoilt. I've always loved pretty girls and nice cars, they are a good combination if you know what I mean ;) I've never regretted hitting that Holden boy. I'm used to being the center of attention. I wish I had more money. If only I didn't share my room with that strange boy Holden. If I had more more time I would stay with Jane in the car. If I had been given a chance to act in a famous movie, I would have played the James Dean part. Maybe I'll say hello to Jane in Holden's name. I'll probably become a successful lawyer or something. Next month I'm going to have a date with another girl.

I'm a rather confused person. I usually daydream. When I was a child I used to play with my brother Allie. I've always loved reading. I've never regretted flunking from my previous schools. I'm used to being misunderstood. I wish I could run away. If only I could understand girls. If I could, I would never grow up. If I had been given a chance to save someone, I would have chosen Allie. Maybe I'll go West. I'll probably be sent to a military school. Next month I'm going to visit my older brother D.B in Hollywood.

I've never regretted my decision to become a lawyer. I'm used to giving orders. I wish I could make even more money. If only I had a different son. If I were poor, I would kill myself. If I had been given a chance to change Holden's behaviour, I would have done it twice. Maybe I'll buy a new house someday. Or a car. Or even a cat? I'll probably cheat on my wife. Next month I'm going to Bora Bora where I'll forget everything that happened.

SORRYSORRYSORRYSORRY! “London is a 3,000 year old city, it is home to over 7

million inhabitants, and today is one of the most

important business, cultural, political and educational

centres in the world ...” and we had been looking forward

to visiting it since we applied for the trip ! We arrived

at the airport late, took the bus to our hotel and

started discovering that England really is something

special. Like the steering wheel on the right-hand side,

driving on the left. And there was so much more to see!

Apart from the airplane, we also experienced the

underground, the famous double-decker and a nice ride on

the River Thames by boat. We are also trained in museums,

as we visited the British Museum and hung out with

celebrities while visiting Madame Tussauds. Of course, we

couldn’t see all the attractions London offers, so we

chose the most important ones: Trafalgar Square,

Buckingham Palace, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Globe

Theatre, Leicester Square, St. James’ Park and of course

Oxford Street…

We learned to always stay in a group, to stand on the

right side or run up on the left side of the escalators,

to bargain and to say sorry really, really often, most of

the times, for no reason. Time flew by fast, we left

London feeling sad, but thankfully the memories will

always last! (:

KAJA KONIČ 4.eG

bbbbiiiiooooggggrrrraaaapppphhhhiiiieeee

Kaja Konič naquit le 14 mai 1992 à Šempeter pri Gorici.

Premièrement elle termina l'école primaire de Solkan, puis elle

poursuivit ses études au lycée de Nova Gorica en classe

européenne. Après le baccalauréat, elle s'inscrivit à l'université de

relations internationales.

Au cours de ses études, elle travailla comme journaliste. Elle

reporta principalement les événements politiques. Mais pendant

les vacances d'été, elle travailla comme correspondante de guerre.

A la fin de ses étude elle obtint un doctorat en diplomatie.

Elle accepta un poste au bureau principal de l'Organisation des

Nations Unies à New York, où elle fut responsable pour le Moyen-

Orient. Sur l'une de ses missions, Kaja rencontra son mari, un

Anglais qui travaillait comme avocat en droit international. Ils se

marièrent au bout d’un an et ils fondèrent une famille à New York.

En 2045, elle reçut le prix Nobel de la paix en raison de son intérêt

d'établir la paix au Moyen-Orient. Après sa retraite, elle

n’abandonna pas son travail. Elle commença à écrire des livres

destinés à de futurs politiciens et aux soldats de la paix.

Elle mourut en 2094 à New York entourée de sa famille.

Un Un Un Un emploi du temps '' à la française ''emploi du temps '' à la française ''emploi du temps '' à la française ''emploi du temps '' à la française ''

En France en géneral ils commencent les cours à 8h30 et ils

finnisent les cours a 17h30 ou 18h30, ça dépend des emplois du

temps. Ils ont une pose déjeuner à 11h35 de 12h35 et ils ont les

temps durant les leçons le matin (15 min) – une récréation. Ils

n'ont pas la pose durant les leçons de l'après-midi. Quand is

vont à la maison ils ont beaucoup de devoir (2 heures).

A sunny and peaceful place, with lots of

gardens, nice people and interesting

buildings –Vienna.

The city is modern, but still fond of all

traditional foods and culture.

The people of Vienna know a lot about

pleasure. They incorporate their knowledge

when cooking food, listening to music and also making it, but most

important – they know how to mix pleasure with the arts.

Vienna is also a university city, and trust me, Vienna is a good place

to study.

Some famous Slovenians knew that a long time ago. Jože Plečnik

studied architecture

there and Maks

Philosophy and

Education.

Architecture is an art form to

the people of Vienna. Some

blocks of flats are very

different and unusual. They're

very unique, with lots of

colours and some have curved

floors. They are named by the

architect that designed them.

It shows how important

expressing their freedom with

architecture was.

And now… I think you all want

to know why we actually went

to Vienna. Well the reason

was the famous Vienna Opera

House.

We watched a play called Aida, the slave who betrayed her loved one

for the sake of her childhood, written by none other than Giuseppe

Verdi. It was first played in 1873. It consists of 4 acts, the 8 main

roles and of course the great orchestra.

century. In 1945 it

almost burned down,

but it was restored into

the previous glory very

soon. It has its charms,

it's very big and its

chambers look like the

ones in old castles.

The Vienna state opera is one of world's most well known opera

houses. It has its place in the centre of Vienna. It's very famous for its

children's productions.

Children between 9 to 10

years old can visit the

opera, when they are

performing peter pan or

the magic flute.

Our hotel was about 20 minutes away from

the opera. We went there by bus and then

had to walk back to the hotel. I know what

you're thinking about right now and yes –

poor girls! But we tried to impress the boys

so we didn't complain too much.

IIll ééttaaiitt uunnee ffooiiss une fille tellement belle que tous

les garçons de son village voulaient l’épouser. Elle avait de longs cheveux blonds et les yeux bleus. Mais comme les personnes ne sont jamais parfaites, cette belle fille, au visage innocent et fragile, n’était ni bonne ni honnête. Elle était méprisante et narcissique.

Tout au long de sa vie, elle a appris que sa beauté pouvait rendre sa vie beaucoup plus facile et confortable, et elle ne voyait pas de raison pour laquelle elle ne devrait pas utiliser ce qu’elle avait. Elle vivait dans une petite maison avec sa mère qui travaillait sans cesse, même si elle n’était pas en bonne santé. Elles étaient pauvres mais la jeune fille était toujours chèrement vêtue parce qu’elle voulait être comme les filles des familles riches. Presque tout l'argent que sa mère gagnait était consacré à l'aspect visuel de la jeune fille complaisante. Elle ne pensait à personne sauf à elle-même et elle exploitait la bonté de sa mère qui l’aimait de tout son cœur. Mais cette fille du nom d’Aurore n’était pas heureuse. Rien ne la satisfaisait jamais, elle en voulait toujours plus et aucun homme n’était jamais assez riche pour elle. Et pour cette raison elle était toujours seule. Elle n’a jamais eu aucun vrai ami parce que toutes les filles du village étaient envieuses d’elle et de sa beauté.

Le roi Tristan, du royaume voisin, était à la recherche d’une femme qui allait devenir la reine et qui allait donner naissance à ses enfants. Il avait entendu les rumeurs de la beauté d’Aurore et il avait pensé que peut-

être elle serait la femme parfaite pour lui. Il a envoyé un cocher pour la conduire à son château.

Aurore était surprise et heureuse parce qu’elle se sentait importante, et elle pensait qu'elle allait enfin se sentir comme une des filles de la classe supérieure. Évidemment, elle a accepté avec plaisir, ils sont partis et après trois jours passés sur la route, ils sont finalement arrivés. Tristan a été très accueillant et il a organisé des agapes où il a invité presque toutes ces personnes de la haute société qu’Aurore a admirée. Il y avait un chœur qui chantait, des plats délicieux et des princesses dans des robes magnifiques.

Tristan a été impressionné par la beauté de la jeune femme et il l'a demandée en mariage. Aurore se sentait heureuse parce qu’elle croyait que tous ses rêves étaient devenus réalité et qu’elle serait finalement heureuse. Elle avait réussi à séduire un roi et personne n’a plus d’argent que le roi.

Le jour du mariage approchait et Aurore était dans sa chambre avec sa couturière qui prenait ses mesures pour la robe de mariage. Elle leur a dit qu’elle avait entendu parler de sa beauté mais qu’elle était encore plus belle en réalité. Aurore était tellement vaniteuse qu’elle ne l’a même pas remercié et elle a refusé de lui parler parce qu’alors, elle était presque membre de la famille royale, et elle ne pouvait pas parler aux servantes. Mais la nouvelle reine ne savait pas qu’elle venait de faire une énorme erreur. La couturière n’était pas une couturière normale mais elle était une fée à qui le comportement d’Aurore n’avait pas plu. Et à cause de cela, elle a pris sa baguette magique dans sa main et l’a dirigée vers elle. Pendant une fraction de seconde, Aurore a été embrassée d’un fin fil de lumière qui venait du bout de la baguette magique. Quand la lumière a disparu, Aurore a disparu avec elle. La fée l’a transportée dans une forêt obscure et hostile. Aurore s’est

rendu compte qu’elle se trouvait dans un trou plein d’arbustes et qu’elle était complètement égratignée à cause des épines. Elle ressentait une douleur terrible sur tout le corps et elle a commencé à pleurer.

Soudain, elle a entendu des sabots de chevaux et elle a commencé à crier et appeler au secours. Le bruit a cessé et il y avait deux hommes au bord du trou. Ils riaient et ils ressemblaient à des bandits. Aurore a eu peur mais elle n’en était pas moins heureuse car elle pensait qu’ils étaient venus à son secours. Un des hommes est descendu dans le trou, il l’a déshabillée et il a pris tous ses bijoux. Contrairement à ce qu’Aurore pensait, il ne l’avait pas sauvée mais il l’avait volée. Et durant ce délit, son complice a attendu au bord du trou, il riait et il préparait les chevaux pour leur départ.

Quand les bandits sont partis avec leur butin, elle a pleuré encore plus et bientôt un autre homme est apparu. Elle l’a supplié de l’aider à sortir du trou mais il n’a pas voulu l’aider parce qu’elle était toute égratignée. Il pensait qu’elle était une médiante et il avait peur qu’elle soit contagieuse. Puis il l’a laissée dans ce trou et il a poursuivi son chemin.

Et alors quand la jeune fille prétentieuse commençait déjà à désespérer, elle a entendu les voix de deux chasseurs, elle a recueilli les dernières gouttes d’énergie et elle a crié au secours. Un des deux étrangers, petit et trapu, s’est encordé à l’autre homme. Il est descendu dans le trou, il a pris Aurore dans ses bras et il l’a remontée du trou.

Les hommes qui avaient sauvé Aurore n’étaient pas beaux et ils n’avaient pas de vêtements chers mais quand ils l’ont secourue, elle était tellement heureuse qu’elle ne voyait pas leur laideur. Elle pensait qu’elle allait mourir dans ce trou, et elle était si reconnaissante envers ces hommes qu’elle ne savait pas quoi leur dire pour les remercier. Elle leur a dit que,

quand elle retournerait au château, elle allait leur donner ce qu’ils voulaient. Mais les bons hommes lui ont dit qu’ils ne voulaient pas de récompense. Ils l’ont accompagnée au château et là, elle a découvert que Tristan ne la cherchait pas et ne l’attendait pas mais qu’il s’était marié avec une autre femme. Aurore était déçue en découvrant que Tristan ne l’aimait pas, mais il voulait l’épouser car il voulait se vanter devant les autres de la beauté de sa femme.

Quand elle a voulu retourner chez elle, elle a découvert que sa mère était morte de tristesse et que sa petite maison était vendue à un paysan. Elle s’est rendu compte que personne n’allait l’aider parce qu’elle n’avait pas d’amis. Et elle avait déjà oublié ces deux hommes qui l’avaient aidée à sortir du trou. Ils ont entendu parler de la mort soudaine et tragique de la mère d’Aurore et ils se sont souvenu qu’elle n’avait personne pour la conforter et pas même une maison. Dans leur demeure il y avait seulement eux deux et ils avaient besoin de la main d’une femme à leur domicile. Alors, ils l’ont rendue visite à l’étable où elle vivait temporairement. Ils l’ont consolée et ils lui ont dit qu’elle pouvait vivre avec eux. Elle ressentit une grande gratitude et elle ne savait pas comment remercier ces bons hommes. Elle s’est installée dans sa nouvelle maison et par reconnaissance, elle les a aidés. Et même si elle devait travailler et si elle n’était pas riche, elle se sentait heureuse parce que, pour la première fois dans sa vie, elle se sentait vraiment aimée.

Rock Otočec Je vais vous présenter le plus célèbre et le plus

grand festival de musique rock'n'roll en Slovénie.

Le festival se déroule les trois premiers jours en

juillet et a lieu dans un petit village Otočec à

côté de Novo mesto. Je ne peux pas dire combien ça

coûte parce que le prix change chaque année. C'est

organisé par le député Franci Kek. Le festival est

destiné aux jeunes qui aiment la musique rock. Au

festival on peut écouter les groupes de rock de

Slovénie et de l'étranger.

Following the recent earthquake in Japan, I was once again furiously

disappointed in the ability of the general media to report the actual

situation. Instead of reporting the facts when dealing with science

based stories they express their point of view and use tactics like

fear-mongering to get as many viewers and attention as possible.

This behavior is typical and very irresponsible. Not only do they

misguide the general viewers, which let's face it, are not going to

check the validity of information that is being reported, but they also

do it for a political reasons. If you have not already guessed I am

talking about the so called nuclear incident, which is happening as I

am writing this. The political cause I am talking about is the

prevention of replacing the obsolete generation of power using fossil

fuels with more efficient, safer and cleaner alternatives such a

nuclear fission. This furthermore proves that the media is not a

reliable source of information. It should not hold such an important

influence on our daily lives. However, the point of discussion is why

the general public is so afraid of nuclear power even though all the

facts clearly show that it is a much better option. Let’s first explore

why this is.

Nuclear fission plants that are built today are safer than any other

alternatives. In fact there are more casualties from workers installing

wind turbines then there are incidents of fatal radiation exposure in

nuclear plants. Not to mention all the workers that die every time a

coal mine collapses or if there is a failure on an oil rig. If we look at

figures, we can see that not even one single person has ever died

from a nuclear power plant incident in the USA. Even if we take into

account the Chernobyl disaster, the death toll of all the combined

nuclear power plant accidents (and there are not many) do not even

come close to those of coal burning, natural gas or even hydro

plants. Not to mention that modern plants have such a fail-safe

system that even in the worst case scenario the pant collapses in on

itself creating an underground bunker and the amount of radiation

that leaks is minimal. But the chances of this happening are so

unimaginably small, that it is not even worth talking about.

In addition, misinformation circulating around is that radiation is this

death ray that kills you instantly. But what most of us do not realize

is that we are exposed to some form of radiation every day. Recent

studies of radiation effects on living tissue have shown that in almost

all cases, our fears are irrational. When the media talks about the

radiation levels exceeding normal values, it just means people are

exposed to only a slightly elevated dose. However, what they don't

tell you is that there are certain places in nature where the dose

already exceeds recommended levels, which are set so unbelievably

low. I am not going to further develop this point as I do not have

time to explain basic atomic physics and the biological studies of

radiation effects are available at any major scientific journal.

So we can conclude that fission plants are not only the safest

method, but they are also the cleanest and most efficient way to

produce electricity. The safety standards of spent fuel disposal are

impeccable. So why, you ask, were the plant's given such a bad

stereotype by the uneducated public? Well, I cannot say I know for

sure but I have a pretty good idea. I think it has to do on the bad

publicity that the word “nuclear” was given at the end of WW2 and

later in the cold war era. But there is an important lesson that needs

to be learned here. Science is neutral. The discovery of nuclear

physics was an important scientific revolution. But the irony is that

we, humans, are so naive and stupid at times. The new discovery was

used to build weapons instead of bettering our lives. But we cannot

help ourselves; it is a natural instinct to be ignorant and violent. This

instinct was built in to us by the process of natural selection through

hundreds of thousands of years of human evolution. But that does

not mean we cannot realize this and grow up. Our generation may be

the last one to have a standing chance to change our current way of

thinking and the media is not doing a good job in helping this take

place.

Nuclear energy has great potential. Fission energy is good on its own.

Today we could build hundreds of reactors to greatly reduce the cost

of electricity maybe even to the point of making it free. It would be a

great investment but it would greatly reduce pollution and save

money on the long run. But nuclear fission is not the ultimate form of

neutering the power of the atom. There is still a better way. It is

called nuclear fusion and it is the process that happens naturally in

stars. It is more controllable then fission and does not produce any

radioactive materials at all. It is the cleanest energy production

process known to science today and more research needs to be done

in this field, as we do not yet have a working prototype. One single

kilogram of fusion material which is readily available in sea-water is

able to produce the same power as 10,000 tons of fossil fuel.

However, because of the bad name attached to nuclear power, there

is a lack of funding. I think even if we were to build a fusion plant, I

fear that the public would still be stupid and ignorant. If this way of

thinking does not change, i.e. ignoring important facts and falling for

the fear-mongering of corporation controlled media, there is no

future for our species. This may not be a new thing to happen on this

planet. Just remember that the vast majority of species that have

ever lived on Earth became extinct sooner or later. This century may

OUR TRIP TO TUSCANYOUR TRIP TO TUSCANYOUR TRIP TO TUSCANYOUR TRIP TO TUSCANY On Thursday, 31st March, students of second year classes went on a

three day package tour to Tuscany. Our trip started really early, the

meeting was around 5.a.m. There were three busses, on our bus

there were students from E and A classes. And so our journey began.

After two short stops we arrived around noon in Volterra. This

Etruscan city is one of the oldest cities in Italy and typically stands on

the top of the hill. Our guide Damjan showed and told us something

about city hall, Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral, and we also stopped

at the Etruscan doors, which were built around 2nd or 3rd century

B.C. An interesting place to visit in Volterra is the Torture Museum,

where the torturing devices, instruments and methods from past

centuries to the present are exhibited. Then we had some free time,

and around 2 p.m. we went on to Pisa. As soon as we arrived there,

we were attacked by various street sellers selling glasses, watches

and other jewellery and accessories. When we finally got rid of them,

we took a bus to the centre, then we had a walk to the heart of the

city, the Square of Miracles. There we first went to the baptistery,

which is the biggest in Italy, then we spent some time in the

Cathedral Duomo, and finally we saw a bell, also called the Leaning

Tower of Pisa, which is considered to be one of the most recognized

buildings in the world. Then again we had a bit of free time, which

we used for taking pictures with the tower, resting on the lawn in

front of the baptistery, and some of us bought some souvenirs. After

a long and busy day we went to Montecatini Terme resort,

where accommodation and food was

waiting for us. Early in the

evening, all tired, we

fell into our beds.

The second day of our trip began

with an Italian breakfast which

wasn't really large but it wasn't

bad at all. Then around 8.30

we went to Florence, where

we spent the whole day.

After an hour of driving and

paying the local tax, we left the bus

and had a walk to the Pitti Palace. There we spent

some time in the beautiful Boboli Gardens.

After that we went to the centre of Florence, past the Vecchio

Bridge, through the square Piazza della Signoria to the third biggest

cathedral in the world, Santa Maria del Flore, which is situated next

to the high Giotto bell. There we admired the majestic Brunelleschi

dome, which actually consist of two domes, the exterior and the

interior one. Then we had some free time. Some of us used it for

lunch, others for shopping. Food and drinks were really expensive,

we paid 12€ for two cappuccinos and a bottle of water. When our

free time was over we went to the oldest Franciscan church in the

world, the Santa Croce Basilica. We were surprised because we all

got walkie talkies, which we listened to a guide's explanation on. It

was actually really practical because we all heard him talking really

well. The walkie talkies also brought us a little bit of fun because our

guide entertained us with his singing, while walking from one

exponent to another. Then we were supposed to go to the Vecchio

Palace, which was unfortunately closed. Luckily we had the option to

go to the Uffizi Gallery, which is one of the oldest and the most

famous art museums in the world. The sun was starting to set, so we

walked to the bus, which had been waiting for us outside of city

centre and then we were driven to the Piazzale Michelangelo, where

we enjoyed a fabulous view of Florenece and the River Arno. We

took some pictures, bought ourselves a souvenir and then went back

to the Montecatini Terme, where dinner was already waiting.

We started our last day waking up at 7.a.m., followed by breakfast,

packing up our suitcases and then saying goodbye to the Europa

Hotel. We went to Siena, where we first stopped in the Saint

Domenico Basilica, also known as the Caterniana Basilica, which

stands outside of the city walls. There we saw

a chapel, dedicated to Saint Katarina, who is

an important saint in Christianity and was

from Siena. Then we went to the Cathedral

of Siena, which is one of the biggest gothic

buildings in Europe. We saw the

Piccolomini's altar and library and a few

statues by Michelangelo and Donatello.

After seeing the cathedral we went to

the Piazza del Campo Square,

representing Siena's heart, where we

first had lunch and then some free

time, which we used for lying in the

square. At around two in the

afternoon we slowly made our way

back to the buses, which took us to San

Gimignano, which like any other real medieval

city stands on the top of a hill. The speciality of

this city are towers, built by the rich families in case of danger. The

interesting fact about San Gimignano is that no one lives there. We

tried the ice-cream, which has won an award fot the best ice-cream

in the world. After the last walk through San Gimignano we went to

the bus, which took us back to Nova Gorica. We had a few problems

with the bus on the way home, but nothing major, so we arrived

home safely late in the evening. We were tired, but happy and full of

impressions from Tuscany.

Il était une fois une belle princesse de 18 ans

qui habitait à la cour, à Nice. Là, elle vivait avec son père et son

frère. Elle s’appelait Julie.

Julie ressemblait beaucoup à sa mère : elle était bonne,

honnête, ouverte et toujours souriante. Mais Julie était invalide

parce qu’à l’âge de 12 ans, elle avait eu un accident de voiture

avec sa mère qui était morte. En dépit de son invalidité, Julie

était très belle. Elle était mince et grande, elle avait de longs

cheveux châtain et des yeux verts.

Mais Julie ne pouvait pas aller à l’école, ainsi elle avait un

précepteur qui venait chaque jour chez elle pour l’instruire. Elle

aimait beaucoup cuisiner, mais elle ne pouvait pas faire

d’autres travaux ménagers parce qu’elle était toujours assise

dans un fauteuil roulant.

La princesse adorait la musique et les animaux. Elle allait

souvent dans la forêt seule avec son frère Jacques qui avait 8

ans. Julie était amoureuse de la nature.

Un jour, dans la forêt, elle a rencontré un jeune garçon

qui était si beau, qu’elle ne pouvait pas détourner les yeux de

lui. Ce garçon avait des yeux bleus splendides, il était grand et

séduisant. Mais sa famille était pauvre et le père de Julie qui

était aussi le roi, voulait un garçon riche pour sa fille. Il était

trop strict et Julie ressentait souvent de la tristesse. Mais ce

jour-là, elle ne se souciait pas de ce que son père dirait, donc

elle a commencé à parler avec le garçon. Il s’appelait Nicolas et

il avait 20 ans. Il vivait dans un taudis à deux kilomètres de là

et il était vraiment accueillant. Julie était tombée amoureuse de

lui immédiatement. Elle lui a conté que son père, le roi, ne

voulait pas qu’elle fréquente de garçons pauvres. Nicolas est

devenu triste parce que Julie lui plaisait aussi. Julie lui

semblait être une très bonne personne en dépit d’être invalide.

Julie et Nicolas se réunissaient secrètement chaque week-end,

jusqu’au jour où le père a demandé à Julie si elle fréquentait

quelqu’un. Elle lui avait parlé de Nicolas parce qu’elle était si

honnête qu’elle ne pouvait pas lui mentir. Le roi était très déçu

et il a interdit à Julie de le fréquenter. Elle est devenue triste et

elle demeurait dans sa chambre. Nicolas n'a pas osé venir à la

cour. Un samedi, quand le père de Julie n’était pas à la maison,

elle a dit à son petit frère qu’elle allait au parc pour rencontrer

son amie Claire, mais Jacques savait que sa sœur n’avait pas

d’amies. Pourtant elle est allée à la forêt voir Nicolas. Ils se sont

embrassés et Nicolas lui a demandé d’être sa bien-aimée. Elle a

accepté en espérant que son père ne le découvre pas. Quand

elle est rentrée à la maison, il était déjà rentré. Il était sûr que

Julie avait vu Nicolas, ce qui le rendait encore plus fâché. Elle

lui a dit qu’elle se sentait bien avec lui et qu’il devait lui

permettre d’être heureuse. Ce jour-là, le roi a beaucoup réfléchi.

Il a décidé d’inviter Nicolas à dîner pour le rencontrer. Il a dit à

Julie qu’il était désolé, mais qu’il était souvent d’air maussade

parce que sa femme lui manquait et il voulait que sa fille trouve

un bon garçon.

La semaine suivante, Nicolas est arrivé à la cour un peu

effrayé. Il a serré la main au roi et il l’a remercié pour

l’invitation. Pendant le dîner, le père de Julie lui a demandé

beaucoup de choses et il l’a trouvé très gentil. Jacques a parlé

avec lui des jeux vidéo et Nicolas lui plaisait aussi. Avant de

partir, Nicolas a dit à Julie qu’elle devait savoir que son père

était une bonne personne, seulement un peu triste à cause de

la tragédie de son épouse. Le prétendant de Julie a fait ses

adieux et il est parti avec le sourire parce qu’il était heureux.

Nicolas et Julie ont passé tous les week-ends ensemble. Depuis

quelques mois, le père de Julie invitait Nicolas aux agapes où

toute la famille se réunissait chaque année. Il avait mis un

nouveau smoking. Le roi l’a présenté à leurs proches comme le

bien-aimé de sa fille. Nicolas s'entendait bien avec tout le

monde.

Julie a aussi rendu visite à la famille de Nicolas. Ses parents et

son frère aîné ont trouvé Julie très positive et gentille. Ils l’ont

acceptée comme si elle était leur fille.

Un jour, deux ans après, les amoureux étaient dans la

prairie. Nicolas tenait la main de Julie et il l’a demandée en

mariage. Elle a consenti, disant qu’elle était la femme la plus

comblée du monde. Ils ont annoncé la nouvelle à leurs familles.

Ils étaient tous ravis et ont commencé à faire des projets pour la

noce. Le père de Julie a organisé la musique, alors que les

parents de Nicolas fournissaient la nourriture et les

décorations. Pour cette occasion, la mère de Nicolas lui a cousu

un costume. Elle était si bonne couturière que pas fil un ne

dépassait de sa tenue.

Le jour des noces était merveilleux et la cérémonie s’est

déroulée harmonieusement. On pouvait voir le grand amour

dans les yeux des jeunes mariés. Leurs sentiments étaient si

forts qu’ils ont tout surmonté.

Giuseppe Verdi. The Opera

took place in the Vienna State

Opera. It's one of the best

opera houses in the whole world, and in has a really good

acoustics.

Our excursion started on Wednesday at 8 am. We drove for about

six hours, and on the way our guide told us a lot about Vienna- its

history, important buildings, famous Slovenes that lived there, and

some information about Austria. When we arrived in Vienna we

had something to eat, and in the evening we went to the Vienna

State Opera. The opera lasted for two hours with one long break.

The opera itself was interesting, and the singers were world-class.

Maybe it would have been better if the opera was just a little bit

shorter than it was. It was a loooong, and painful way back from

the Opera house for the girls, because almost all of us wore high-

heels. When we got back to the hotel all of us went to sleep (at

least that's what the professors thought;).

It was a real

challenge to get up in

the morning because

everybody felt

exhausted from the

previous day. When

we had had our

fantaaaastic

breakfast, and

packed our stuff, we

took a closer look at

Vienna. We saw all

the beautiful

buildings and parks,

and were just stunned by their beauty. There wasn't a thing in

sight that wasn't beautiful. All of the buildings were so huge and

all of the parks so clean you almost couldn't believe it. You could

see that people cared a lot for their cultural heritage because all of

the buildings were so preserved and their surroundings so clean.

Our tourist guide took us to the

famous Hundertwasser House,

Schönbrunn Palace, the city hall,

and a lot of other interesting

places.

It wouldn't have been bad to

stay there for a couple more

days, but we had to come home.

Our drive back home lasted for

about six hours, and on the way

we stopped to buy a Slovenian

speciality - Trojanski krofi ;).

est très heureux, ouvert et chaleureux.

Nous sommes hospitalier

et nous aimons les Français. Le dernier roi des Bourbon

à Kostanjevica repose depuis longtemps.

Nous avons beaucoup de châteaux

mais à Bled vous pouvez trouver le plus beau.

La Slovénie est très variée

les Alpes, la mer

et les grottes calcaires.

Ce n’ est pas seulement la géographie

nous avons des animaux uniques aussi.

Les lipizzans sont blancs,

le proteus est comme

un homme

c’est un peu

de tout ce que nous avons.

LANGAGE OUBLIÉ

Avant, je parlais le langage des fleurs,

Avant, je comprenais chaque mot que la chenille disait,

Avant, je souriais secrètement au bavardage des étourneaux,

Et je partageais les conversations avec la mouche dans mon lit.

Avant, j’entendais et je répondais à toutes les questions des grillons,

Et je me joignais aux pleurs de chaque flocon de neige tombant et

mourant,

Avant, je parlais le langage des fleurs …
