This course is a requirement for all students in the Global Education Program.
The course takes a cross-disciplinary approach, introducing the diversities of cultures,
societies, and natural environments of the world.
The objective of this course is to develop a global perspective and a set of core academic
skills in order to complete the Global Education Program. Students need to clarify the goals for
study abroad and set concrete objectives that they would like to achieve throughout the
program. Students are expected to read assignments, participate in class discussion and
other group activities, write short essays, and make presentations.

This is a required course for Natural Sciences students of the Global Education Program. The
course is designed to assist students in achieving high scores on the Academic IELTS test
and progressing from intermediate to upper intermediate level.
In an interactive learning environment, students will have the opportunity to practice all
language skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking), and develop integrated language
abilities necessary for a qualifying score in the Academic IELTS test. A mock test at the end of
the course and regular lecturer feedback will help students assess their progress and identify
weaknesses.
The course will enable students to:
Expand vocabulary and master essential grammar
Build confidence in using appropriate English
Improve listening and reading comprehension
Improve academic writing skills

Program. The course is designed to assist students in achieving high scores of the Academic

This is a required course for Natural Sciences students of the Global Education Program. The
major aim of this course is to develop integrated language abilities relevant to the students'
field of study, as well as other core academic skills needed for the successful completion of
the program. The course has a strong focus on independent learning skills in order to
maximize students’ academic potential. In an interactive learning format, students will have
the opportunity to practice all skills and build confidence in using appropriate academic
English.
Based on the abilities acquired during the first semester, in the second semester the course
will mainly focus on scientific content lectures, seminar discussion, debate and presentations
etc., progressing from upper intermediate to advanced level.
Students will be able to:
Gain familiarity with logical thinking and the systems approach in science
Master academic vocabulary in their field of study
Master discussion, debating and presentation skills

The purpose of the course is to develop students’ academic writing and reading skills with a
view towards improving their TOEFL and/or IELTS scores. Students’ will learn principles and
techniques of academic writing, and vocabulary expansion will also be emphasized. There will
be several writing assignments.
Students will be able to read and discuss an article or essay of current interest and use it as a
springboard for a writing assignment. Students will also be able to plan and appropriately
organize an academic paper. Students will expand their vocabulary size to improve their
command of academic English expressions.

The main purpose of this course is to encourage students of Global Education Program to
develop a global perspective and a sense of global citizenship. The series of lectures
delivered in omnibus format by the faculty of TMU and guest speakers will provide students

This course provides students opportunities to explore various types of approaches in the field
of natural sciences and analyze issues and themes in these fields in order to engage in
academic discussion in seminar style classes.
The objective of this course is to develop academic skills for critical analysis, discussions and
presentations. Students are expected to read assignments before each class, actively
participate in class discussion and group projects, make presentations and write short reports.
While the course covers various topics and issues in the fields of natural sciences, students
are advised to pursue their academic interests in their fields of specialization.

This is a required course for students of the Global Education Program (3rd year or above,
upon completion of their study abroad year). Offered in an intensive format during the
spring/summer break, this is a seminar style class, based on students’ presentations and
interactive discussion.
It offers students the opportunity to reflect on their study abroad experiences and compile the
final report, while also providing an interactive environment for students to clarify their career
goals and explore suitable career paths.
Drawing upon their study abroad experiences, students are expected to demonstrate their
ability to analyze contemporary issues in their respective fields from a global perspective,
discuss potential solutions and prospects and apply academic skills and research approaches
honed during their year abroad to finalize their individual project.

and/or IELTS scores.

Classes will include presentation of key information, speaking and writing activities, and peer
review of each other’s work. Students will be asked to write one 1,500-word essay for

本学の国際副専攻コースは、グローバル化する社会における確かなコミュニケ―ション力
や、多様な文化に適応可能な実行力を身に付けるための教育を通して、国際的な視野を持ち
国際社会の第一線でリーダーシップを発揮して活躍できる人材を育成することを目的として
いる。この趣旨に鑑み本授業では、本学あるいは海外留学先大学において履修した授業を通
して得た知識やスキルを活かし、国際的な場面での就労経験を積むことで、将来国際社会で
活躍するグローバル人材としての素養をさらに高めることを目指す。
・国際的キャリアを目指す広い視野の形成
・講義だけでは得られにくい社会人としてのマナーや素養の修得
・国際社会で働くためのコミュニケーション能力やスキルの向上
・国際的な就労経験が可能な組織で 60時間以上の実習を行うこと。また、研修前および研修
後に本学にて実施するオリエンテーションに必ず参加すること。
・研修先については、以下の 3項目のいずれかとする。
① 授業担当教員の助言を受け、学生が自ら研修先(国際機関の海外ないし国内事務所、国際
交流に関連する民間企業・官公庁・研究機関・NPO/NGO法人等)を確保する。
② 本学が実施する海外インターンシッププログラムに参加する(費用は参加学生の負担とす
る。一部奨学金付与のあるプログラムがある。)
③ 国際副専攻コースの必修である海外留学期間中に、インターンシッププログラムに参加
する(交換留学先で参加が認められる場合に限る。ただし、取得した単位を「海外留学単位
認定科目」として認定した場合、インターンシップ科目としての単位認定は行わないので、
注意すること。)
研修前および研修後のオリエンテーションへの参加を必須とする。
特に定めない。
実習レポート、作業日誌あるいはこれに準ずる書類により判定する。
*オフィスアワーは毎週火曜日の 15 時から 16 時。その他随時相談を受け付けるので、以下
のメールにて予約をとってください。
・本科目の履修を希望する者は、まず担当教員(国際副専攻アドバイザー)へ研修先につい
ての相談を行うこと。
・本科目は特別申請科目である。通常の履修申請時期に限らず、上記にしたがって研修先を
