一、 ICLP 學生須知

1. 學費繳費規定：

第 1 學期（秋季班）-新生請於開學前繳費完畢，舊生請於前一期上課最後一天前繳交完畢

第 2 學期（冬季班）-請於第 1 學期上課最後 1 天前繳交完畢

第 3 學期（春季班）-請於第 2 學期上課最後 1 天前繳交完畢

第 4 學期（暑期班）-新生請於開學前繳費完畢，舊生請於第三學期上課最後一天前繳交完畢

未依以上規定繳費者，視為未註冊，不予選課也不予排課。

2. 學費其他規定：

(1) 每學期安排每日 1 單 3 合課程。若因個人因素自動放棄課程，不得要求退費。

(2) 報名第 1-3 或 1-4 學期之學生，訂金 USD300 統一於最後一學期學費中扣除，若因個人因

素於第 1 或 2 學期提前離校，保證金不予退還。

3. 排課之規定：

第一學期學生不得選課，若有特殊情況，必須在開學後一週內經教務老師同意後始可換課。

第二學期開始，經由導師與教務老師的輔導，可以選課，若同一門課人數不足，教務老師有權另

排其他課程。

為了維持理想的課程，學生不得自行選擇上課時間，除非有特殊需要，請向教務老師說明。

4. 出缺席之規定：

(1) 一般學生缺課（含請假）總時數不得超過全學期上課總時數 1/5。

(2) 教育部獎學金生，每月不得缺課（含請假）超過 12 小時，超過者停發下月獎學金，且缺

課總時數不得超過全學期上課總時數 1/5。

(3) 超過規定時數的學生，本所得：

a. 取消其學生資格，同時不退任何費用。

b. 不接受其下一期的註冊。

c. 不核發結業證書。

d. 通知主管簽證單位取消其簽證資格，並依法遞解出境。

5. 欲續讀之學員無須重複報名手續，只需於學期結束前告知辦公室並在學期結束前繳清學費即可。

6. 中途離校的學生，須完成以下離校手續，否則恕不核發任何學習證明與成績單:

(1) 與教務老師安排離校測驗時間，完成離校考試；

(2) 繳交離校說明書至 420 辦公室；

(3) 住宿生須完成退宿手續。

I、 Essential Information for ICLP Students 1. Tuition Due Dates:

Fall quarter – New students: first day of class; Returning students: last day of summer quarter

Winter quarter – last day of fall quarter

Spring quarter – last day of winter quarter

Summer quarter –New students: first day of class ; Returning students: last day of spring quarter

Those who fail to pay tuition according to the regulations above are not considered enrolled, and

are not allowed to schedule or attend courses.

2. Other regulations concerning tuition:

a. Every student is scheduled to take 1 individual class and 3 group classes per day. Tuition is

non-refundable should the student forgo any classes for personal reasons.

b. For students enrolled in the first 3 quarters or all four quarters, the deposit of US$300 will be deducted

from the tuition of the last quarter. Deposit is non-refundable should the student leave school for

personal reasons after first or second quarter.

3. Course scheduling:

a. In the first quarter, all courses are assigned. Any student dissatisfied with the courses assigned must

consult the Chief Instructors during the first week of class before changes can be made.

b. Starting from the second quarter, students are allowed to select courses in consultation with their

advisors and the Chief Instructors. However, if the number of students who wish to take a particular

course is not enough, the Chief Instructors have the right to make alternative arrangements.

c. We will try our best to accommodate students' schedules. However, once the final timetable is set, a

student can change his/her schedule only under special circumstances and with the permission of the

Chief Instructors.

4. Attendance:

a. A student is not allowed to miss over 1/5 of the total class hours in a quarter.

b. Recipients of the Ministry of Education scholarship may not miss over 12 hours of class (including

excused absences) in any month. Those who violate the rule will not receive the scholarship payment

for the next month.

c. Students who violate attendance regulations are subject to the following consequences:

The student’s enrollment will be cancelled and the student will be disqualified from student status.

Tuition will not be refunded.

Enrollment for the next quarter will not be accepted.

A certificate will not be issued.

The relevant visa authorities will be notified; this generally results in a change to the student’s

residential status in Taiwan and may lead to deportation.

5. Second Year Registration

Students who would like to remain at ICLP beyond the first year do not need to repeat the entire

application process. Please inform the main office and pay the next term’s tuition before the end of your

last term to continue your enrollment.

6. If you withdraw from ICLP prior to the completion of the program, you need to (1) make an appointment

with the Chief Instructors in Room 320 for an exit exam, (2) submit a statement of explanation to Room

420, and (3) if you are living in the dorm, please complete the check-out procedure. Any proof of

attendance or progress report will not be issued to students who leave the program without

completing the procedure.

二、所規

1 請說中文

為維持本校的全中文環境，每位學生都得簽訂中文誓約，保證在學校內只說中文。違反中文誓約，

並經三次警告無效者，施以退學處分，並不予退費。

2 請假規定

請假手續：

2.1 如有事不能上課，須事先通知教務處與辦公室；要是生病，當天也一定要提早通知學校。未

主動請假者，視為曠課。

2.2 請假不得要求老師調課或補課。

2.4 請假時，課程進度要自己趕上，並且要主動連絡同學或老師，確實掌握隔天作業、進度。

曠課：

若曠課時數超過該學期總上課時數的五分之一，下一學期不准註冊，本所亦不發予結業證書。

3 不可遲到

學生必須準時上課，不得遲到，遲到超過 15 分鐘，必須得到教務老師及老師同意才可進入教室。

4 上課規則

4.1 上課時間未到時，請勿進入教室。

4.2 上課時不可以吃東西。

4.3 上課時不得使用英文或其他外語。

4.4 上課時請關上手機。

4.5 上課時不可以查字典。

4.6 上課前一定要作好充分準備，如果有特別情況影響準備功課，可以請老師同意當天僅旁聽，

而不參與課程的進行。是否可旁聽則由老師決定。

5 導師制度

每一位同學都分配到一位老師作為導師，若上課有任何問題，可以先請導師幫忙解決。

6 辦公室時間

教務處每學期從第二週起均安排老師於辦公室時間輔導學生課業。如果學習上有問題，學生可利

用辦公室時間請老師協助。

7 問題解決

若遇到上課的問題，或對課程及教材有意見，請先跟任課老師溝通，再跟導師與教務老師說明，

由所長做最後決定。此外，若遇到中文學習或其他生活方面問題，可以請教務老師諮詢。

8 評量

學習評量項目以及比重如下：

平時上課表現：40%；課後語言任務：30%；期中筆試：10%；期末成果發表：20%（所方得因

課程需要調整評量項目和比重）

8.1 每堂課每週有一次口頭報告，隨堂紙筆小考，由任課老師視學生的需要和同學討論後決定執

行方式。

II、 School Policy

1. Total immersion Chinese environment

Chinese is the lingua franca on ICLP premises. It is the sole language spoken in and outside the

classroom. No other language is allowed except in emergency or in the Director’s or the Chief

Instructors’ office (Room 420 or Room 320). All students are required to sign a Chinese

language pledge. First-time offenders will receive a verbal warning. Serious (3 or more

violations) offenders will be asked to leave the program. No refund will be processed.

2. Leaves

Students must obtain permission from the Chief Instructors’ Office (Room 320) in advance for

personal leave. In case you need to call in sick, please inform us by email or by phone before

your class begins. ICLP teachers work on a tight schedule and are not allowed to give

unauthorized makeup sessions for students who miss classes. It is the responsibility of ICLP

students to obtain from their teachers and other students information about homework and

progress made during their absent periods.

AWOLs

Students who miss one-fifth of the total class hours for any specific ICLP quarter due to

unexcused absences will not be allowed to continue into the following quarter and will not

receive a certificate of program completion from ICLP.

3. Be on time

Students must be on time for classes. Lateness is not allowed. Students who are more than 15

minutes late cannot enter the classroom without the Chief Instructors and the teacher’s

permission.

4. Attendance

4.1 Please do not enter the classroom before the bell rings.

4.2 No food allowed in the classroom.

4.3 No language other than Chinese is allowed in class.

4.4 All cell-phones must be switched off in the classroom.

4.5 No dictionary is allowed in class.

4.6 Students are expected to fully prepare for the day’s classes and to be ready to participate in

speaking tasks. If you feel you are under-prepared, please ask for permission to audit the

class. ICLP teachers have the right to decide if such permission is granted.

5. ICLP Mentors

Each ICLP student is assigned a mentor. Students should consult with their mentors first when

they encounter difficulties with the program.

6. Advising hours

Beginning the second week of classes, the Chief Instructors’ Office will post office hours for

students who may need help with their lessons or assignments. This service is free to all ICLP

students.

7. Problem solving

Should you have any questions about the program and your classes, please approach your teachers or your mentor

first for a solution. You may also bring up your concerns to the Chief Instructor or make an appointment with the

Director. Most of the problems can be solved by the Chief Instructor and the Student Affairs Director.

8.2 期中筆試。

8.3 期末口頭成果發表，題目由任課老師和學生決定，交給教務處彙整。

8.4 離校筆試。離開學校時再考一次入校考試，作為語言能力進步的指標依據之一。

9 排課原則：

9.1 全年度學生---第一學期課程由教務處根據入學測驗成績及口試成績分班，不得選課，若有特

殊情況要求換課，請在開學後一週內由教務老師處理，第三週後不得以任何理由換課或調

課。第二學期開始，經由導師與教務老師的輔導，可以就學校提供的課程選課。同一門課若

未達開課標準，教務老師有權另排其他課程。

9.2 暑期班學生---課程由教務處根據入學測驗成績及口試成績分班，不得選課。若有異動要求，

必須在開學後一週內由教務老師處理。

9.3 學生不得指定上課時間及老師。

9.4 本所課程不開放旁聽。

9.5 除進修生以外，學生不能自行決定課程及教材。

9.6 學生因故可選擇放棄課程，但不得要求學校另外安排其他課程。

10 退費原則：

若需退出課程，請注意下列規定：

10.1 開課前申請退費者，退還已繳費九成。

10.2 自實際上課之日算起，未逾全期授課時數三分之一申請退費者，退還已繳學費五成。

10.3 自實際上課之日算起，已逾全期授課時數三分之一者，不得申請退費。

10.4 若因招生不足或非歸咎於學員之事由，致無法開課，無息退還已繳費用。

10.5 除因故無法開課之班別外，報名費概不退還或保留。

10.6 退費須於退費截止當日 17:00 前，攜帶下列文件「親自」至辦公室辦理（約需時 1 小時）。

10.7 申請退費所需文件：

a) 退費申請書(現場填寫)

b) 繳費證明（收據）正本

c) 國際華語研習所學生證正本

d) 身分證、護照或居留證影本

e) 本人存摺封面影本（帳號及分行名稱須清晰）

10.8 待本所確認您申請手續完成後，費用預計於申請退費後 3 週內匯款（匯費及手續費自付）。

10.9 學籍保留：

開課前，如因故無法繼續就讀，得申請延期，惟以順延一年為限，所繳費全額保留至下期。

開課後未逾全期授課時數三分之一而申請延期者，所繳學費保留三分之二至下期，並應於下

期開課前，繳足整期學費差額。

辦理延期就讀時，若下期收費調整，須補繳差額，但不退其減少部分；並得酌收與報名費相

等之手續費（金額隨當期報名費調整）。

一旦申請延期後，將無法退費。即使延期就讀後無法就讀，仍不得申請退費。

11 課程與內容：

全年度學生---

合班：3 小時，訓練交際、評析等綜合能力。

單班：1 小時：與核心課程配合或加強個別需要。

8. Evaluation: Your performance at ICLP will be evaluated based on the following metric

(subject to change without notice):

Attendance and participation: 40%

After class language assignments: 30%

Midterm: 10%

Final: 20%

Please note that:

8.1 ICLP teachers can require weekly oral presentations or quizzes.

8.2 There will be a written midterm.

8.3 Topics of your final presentation will be jointly decided by you and your teacher.

8.4 All students are required to take the exit test.

9. Your ICLP curriculum:

Your first quarter courses will be scheduled based on your placement test and interview scores.

First quarter students are not allowed to shop around for courses. All scheduling changes must be

approved by the Chief Instructors no later than the first week of classes. No adjustments will be

made after the third week. Beginning the second quarter, students may consult with their mentors

and the Chief Instructors for course selection. ICLP retains the right to cancel courses if

enrollment drops below the minimum. Please also note the following:

For the 8-week summer quarter, courses will be assigned based on your placement test and

interview scores. All changes must be approved by the Chief Instructor in the first week of

classes.

Students are not allowed to choose class periods and teachers.

Students are not allowed to audit other ICLP classes.

First-year ICLP students cannot choose which courses to attend and what classroom materials

to use.

Unless a written agreement is made prior to your admission, ICLP does not adjust the tuition

for students who choose to attend fewer classes. Students cannot request to substitute one

course for another or to exchange two group classes for another one-on-one hour.

10. Refund policy

In case you need to withdraw from the Program, please note the following refund guidelines:

10.1 Students who submit a refund application prior to the first day of class are entitled to a

90% refund of the tuition.

10.2 Students who submit a refund application before the end of the third week of classes are

entitled to a refund of 50% of the tuition.

10.3 No refund will be given after the third week of classes.

10.4 If the course is cancelled due to low enrollment or other reason that is unrelated to the

student, a full refund will be issued.

10.5 Except for the situation mentioned in Point 4, the enrollment deposit is non-refundable.

10.6 The refund application must be submitted by 5 p.m. on the day of the deadline. Please

submit the following documents to the ICLP Office in person (the procedure takes about 1

hour).

10.7 Documents required for a refund:

a) application form

b) receipt

c) ICLP student ID card

d) copy of ID card/passport/ARC

e) copy of the applicant’s bank passbook (bankbook) cover page, which should clearly

indicate the account number and the name of the bank branch

10.8 The refund will be issued within 3 weeks after the submission of the refund application is

accepted and confirmed by the ICLP Office. The student will be responsible for all the

charges associated with remitting the refund.

10.9 Students who are unable to attend/continue the Program may apply for deferment.

a) Application prior to the beginning of the course: the enrollment and full tuition fee will be

held for one year.

b) Application before the end of the third week of classes: the enrollment and 2/3 of the

tuition fee will be held for one year. The applicant must pay the remaining tuition fee

balance prior to the beginning of the quarter that the applicant plans to enroll in.

c) No application for deferment will be accepted after the third week of classes.

d) A processing fee and difference in tuition will be charged in the case the tuition fee is

raised. However, no refund will be issued if the tuition fee is reduced.

e) Deferment will only be granted once. No refund will be issued once deferment is granted.

11 Class Scheduling

ICLP classes are typically scheduled as follows:

Academic Year Students:

Group Class: 3 hours—strengthens language skills to communicate and analyze.

Individual Class: 1 hour—complements and reinforces the major spoken text used in

group class or can be tailored to student’s individual needs.

Summer Students:

Group Class: 3 hours—strengthens language skills to communicate and analyze..

Individual Class: 1 hour—complements and reinforces the major spoken text used in

group class or can be tailored to student’s individual needs

三、ICLP 開放時間

1. 學校「上課期間」開放時間：

週一至週五 8:00 am – 6:30 pm

周六、日 依通知開放

＊ 學校於國定假日時不開放。

＊ 學校於週末與國定假日前一日只開放到 6:00pm.

2. 學校於「二學期間停課」時開放時間：

週一至週五 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

週六、週日 依通知開放

3. 辦公室上班時間

週一至週五 8:30 am – 12:00 pm; 1:00 pm – 5:30 pm

＊辦公室於週六、週日及國定假日不上班

4. 注意事項：

a) 週末期間，請由語文大樓西南角之側門進出本所。

b) 由於本所於週末開放時，並無管理員負責清潔工作，故請勿留置食

品或飲料於所內。

c) 於課程非進行中，需要刷門禁卡才能夠使用學校設備。

d) 請務必於關門前離開學校。

e) 如果週末期間大樓側門無法進入，請撥電話 2363-9123#22，值班人

員會來開門。

f) 若發現被鎖在大樓內，請聯絡陳立元老師 (0928-763-856)，或范美媛

老師 (0936-494-619)。

III、 ICLP hours of operation and access

1. During term time, ICLP facility hours are:

Mon. – Fri. 8:00 am – 6:30 pm

Sat. – Sun. According to the announcement

ICLP facilities are closed on:

Single-day holidays in mid-week.

Long weekends (3 or more days).

For the last day of class before the weekend or a national holiday, the opening hours will

be the same as on a normal Friday (i.e., closing at 6:00 pm).

ICLP “facilities” refers to the lounge, library, 2 computer labs, and restrooms. If you find any

of these locked during open hours, ask the person in charge to open it.

2. When classes are not in session, ICLP facility hours are:

Mon. – Fri. 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

Sat. – Sun. According to the announcement

3. The Main Office and Instructional Office are open Mon. – Fri., 8:30 am – 12:00 pm and 1:00

pm – 5:30 pm, and closed on national holidays.

4. Special notes:

a) The Language center building itself (with the exception of ICLP facilities) is closed

Saturdays and Sundays. ICLP students will need to enter from the rear door of the

building (southwest corner).

b) There is no cleaning service on weekends, and so the waste bins will not be emptied.

Therefore, please do not leave food or beverages here on weekends.

c) You need to scan your student ID to access ICLP facilities when classes are not in

session.

d) Do not stay in the building after school hours.

e) If you are unable to get into the building, please call 2363-9123#22, and the person in

charge will open the rear door for you.

f) When finding yourself locked in the building, please contact Chen Li-Yuan laoshi

(0928-763-856), and Fann Meei-Yuan laoshi (0936-494-619.)

四、ICLP 教材 CD、錄音帶購買流程

本所目前提供兩種聽力輔助教材：

1. 【數位化教學檔案】

* 只適用於視聽教室內之視聽軟體使用。

* 請勿擅自拷貝。

* 目前大部份課程已完成數位化，尚在持續增加中。

2. 【教學錄音帶】

* 只限於視聽教室內共同使用。

* 使用完畢後請歸回原位，不可帶走。

若欲上本所網頁收聽視聽教材，可至辦公室申請帳號密碼。帳號有效期限至學期結束為止。

備註:

ICLP 出版教材皆附 CD。

【遠東生活華語Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ】、【實用視聽華語Ⅰ、Ⅱ】課程為市售產品，由辦公室代為訂講，

需 1-2 天工作天。

【廣播劇選集】僅開放於視聽教室，不附贈光碟。

IV、 Audio Materials Purchase Procedure

Two types of instructional and individual-use materials are available.

1. Digital teaching files:

* These files can only be played by computer software in the AV lab.

* Please do not copy the files in any form.

* Most courses have been digitized, and many more are in the process of being

digitized.

2. Audio tapes

* These tapes are to be used in the AV lab only.

* Please return the tapes to their proper places on the shelf after using them.

To access audio materials at the ICLP website, apply for a username and a password from

the office. The username expires after you leave ICLP.

Note:

CDs are included in ICLP-published textbooks.

【Far East Everyday Chinese Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ】、【Practical Audio-Visual ChineseⅠ、Ⅱ】are

available on the market. Please allow 3-5 working days for order processing.

【Collected Radio Plays】are available only in the AV lab, and are not for sale.

五、ICLP 電腦室使用規則

電腦室是讓同學們備課的地方，請遵守下列規定，維持良好的環境

1. 本電腦室之電腦僅供 ICLP 學生使用，非本校學生請勿進入使用。

2. 使用個人筆記型電腦者，請在使用完畢之後，將電腦恢復原狀（如網路線或螢幕線請插回

原位），以方便下一位使用者。

3. 電腦室之所有電腦均為 windows 7 系統，並已加裝還原卡，系統將會於電腦重新開機後，

恢復為原始設定狀態，故請勿自行下載或安裝任何軟體。“自行下載或安裝之軟體將會於電

腦重新開機後消失”

4. 電腦若發生問題，請儘速通知辦公室。

5. 不可攜帶食物入內使用。

6. 不可大聲喧嘩、聊天、使用電話。

7. 請勿在內睡覺，或一人佔用 2 張椅子或電腦。

8. 請勿長時間佔用位置，請給其他同學備課的機會。

9. 如果你只是要看書，圖書館可提供你安靜的閱讀環境。

10. 若要在 ICLP 使用無線網路，請選 clip-g，然後在瀏覽器網址欄輸入 192.168.0.130 或

10.10.10.10，選擇「進階」，接著選擇「繼續前往」，帳號輸入你的學號(英文字母大寫)，密

碼輸入你的生日四碼(月月日日)。(註：無線網路的帳號、密碼與收聽 ICLP 網站上之語音

檔所使用之帳號、密碼是相同的。)

V、 Computer Lab Regulations

1. The labs are for ICLP student use only. Non-ICLP students may not enter the labs or use

the computers.

2. Notebook users should reconnect internet cables to their original computer after use.

3. Software installed by students will be deleted the next day.

4. Please report computer problems to the main office.

5. Food and drinks are strictly prohibited in computer labs.

6. Please refrain from talking unless you are practicing lessons. Conversation with friends

and on mobile phones is discouraged.

7. Please do not sleep at the computers or use more than one computer, chair at a time.

8. Please do not monopolize the computers; our resources are limited.

9. If you do not need to use audio materials, you are advised to study in the library.

10. If you would like access to wireless internet, please choose “clip-g”, and then open a

browser and enter 192.168.0.130 or 10.10.10.10 in search bar. Next, please choose

“advanced” and “continue to the website”, and enter your student ID number (with

capital letters) as your User Name and your birthday (MMDD) as your Password.

(Your username and password for wireless internet are the same as those you use to

access online audio materials.)

六、關於學生證，以及如何使用台大體育館和圖書館

學生證：每位學生只發予一張學生證，若需申請補發，請繳交新台幣 1000 元至辦公室。請注意，

臺大正式學生證至多只能夠每學期補發乙次。為開通悠遊卡功能，需加值新台幣 100 元。

但若學生証毀損或遺失，捷運站無法償還已加值在學生證裡的金額，因此建議不要使用學

生證的悠遊卡，而是在捷運車站另外買一張悠遊卡來使用。

台大綜合體育館

台大綜合體育館距離語文大樓約步行 10分鐘的距離。所有的 ICLP學生皆可使用那裡的設備。

1. 目前開放辦證使用之場地：溫水游泳池、健身房、壁球室、羽球場、桌球室

2. 辦證地點：綜合體育館 B1 大廳櫃檯

3. 售票辦證時間：

週一至週五： 08:00~21:00

週六：上午 09:00~12:00，下午 13：00～21：00

週日：上午 09:00~12:00 ，下午：13：00～17：00

4. 如何使用：攜帶學生證至櫃臺申請會員。

5. 場地開放時間如下：

1.ICLP 學生可以在臺大各圖書(分)館借閱書籍。

2.借書證限本人使用，不可轉借或交換。

3.借書之總冊數為二十冊，借期三十天，借書到期仍需閱讀時，可辦理續借一次，若所借之書籍

借期已滿仍不歸還，圖書館得課以逾期滯還金。

4.所借之書籍如有損壞或遺失，應負賠償之責。

5.其他規則依圖書館規定辦理。

VI、 NTU Student ID, Gymnasium and Library

Student ID

An official NTU student ID is issued only once. If you lose or damage it and need to re-apply for an

official one, please pay NT$1000 to Office 420, but the new ID can only be issued in the next quarter.

To activate your student ID/MRT easy card, you need to add a NT$100 deposit to your card. However,

this deposit is not refundable and the MRT stations are unable to issue a refund if you damage or lose

your student ID, so we suggest that you buy a separate easy card at MRT stations.

Gymnasium

The new gymnasium is ten minutes’ walk from the language center. All ICLP students can use the

facilities there. Hours are as follows:

Monday to Friday 6:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M.

Saturday 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M.

Sunday 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.

Gym is closed on the following days:

1. The fourth Monday of every month

2. Chinese New Year, Tomb-Sweeping Day, Dragon

Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival

3. Other Days as announced by the school

administration.

Gym facilities available for students include: Heated indoor swimming pool, weight room, squash room,

badminton room, table tennis room. To apply for membership, please bring your student ID to the

information counter on floor B1. Applications are accepted at the following hours:

Monday to Friday – 08:00~12:00, 13:00~21:00

Saturday – 09:00~12:00, 13:00~21:00

Sunday – 09:00~12:00, 13:00~17:00

NTU Library

To apply for an NTU Library Card (if you do not have an official NTU Student ID), please submit the

following to the information counter on the first floor of the library:

1. application form (available at the counter) 2. passport 3. ICLP Student Card 4. one photo

Please note the following rules:

i. You can borrow books from the all NTU libraries.

ii. Your library card can be used only by you.

iii. You can borrow up to 20 books for a period of 30 days. You can renew books once for another 2

weeks. A fine will be imposed if books are overdue.

iv. You are responsible for loss of or damages to borrowed books.

v. Please observe other library policies.

每個學生在學生休息室內均有 1 個馬克杯、信箱櫃以及置物櫃。

1. 馬克杯及信箱櫃

ICLP 為每個學生準備 1 個馬克杯，杯底有號碼，請對照杯架上之號碼放置，學期結束

後請勿帶走。請每天查看自己的信箱櫃，因為有重要事件都會放在信箱櫃。學期結束

後請清空信箱。

2. 置物櫃

置物櫃的號碼與信箱櫃的號碼是一樣的。學期結束後請清空置物櫃。

置物櫃使用方法：

(1) 打開置物櫃的門，把東西放進去（保持鎖的位置在”開”）

(2) 將鎖設定好你自己的 4 位數密碼（保持鎖的位置在”開”）

(3) 把鎖轉向”關”的位置（密碼已設定）

(4) 再把號碼弄亂以免洩漏你自己的密碼。完成了!

(5) 每一次使用，請重複(1)～(4)步驟

PS：如果你不小心忘了你的密碼，請到 420 辦公室求助。

3. 腳踏車貼牌

停放在校園內未貼上識別證之腳踏車，將遭拖吊至水源校區處份。請至辦公室領

取 腳 踏 車 識 別 證 ( 一 人 一 車 一 證 ) 。 識 別 證 上 號 碼 可 供 上 網

(http://140.112.172.91/NTUSearchBike.asp)查詢腳踏車是否因違規停車遭拖吊。若確

定遭拖吊請帶著護照與學生證於 8:00-12:00, 13:00-16:30 逕至水源校區領回。

4. 影印機

位於三樓教師電腦室旁。帳號請參考影印機旁的學生名單，密碼為生日四碼(月月

日日)。每位學生每個學期皆有一百張免費的影印張數，若張數已滿，可至辦公室

付款加值（一百二十張一百元）。請不要使用四樓教師與行政人員的影印機。

5. 意見箱

學生休息室放置了一個意見箱，若對 ICLP 有任何意見，歡迎提供你們寶貴的意

見。

VII、 Miscellaneous (Locker, Mailbox, Mug and Bike Sticker)

Every student is given a locker, mailbox, and mug in the student lounge.

1. Mug and Mailbox

The number on the bottom of your mug is the same as the one on your mailbox. Please

clear your mailbox but leave the mug in the mailbox when you check out of the program.

Important notices will be left in your mailbox. Please check your mailbox every day.

2. Locker

Your locker number is the same as your mailbox and mug numbers. Please also clear your

locker when you check out of the program.

Locker usage:

(1) Deposit items into the locker and close the door. (Keep the knob turned to “OPEN”).

(2) Set a four digit password. (Keep the knob at “OPEN”).

(3) When you turn the knob to the “CLOSE” position, the locker will be locked.

(4) Change your password frequently to avoid having your password revealed.

(5) Please repeat steps (1)～(4) each time you use your locker.

PS：If you forget your password, please come to Room 420 for assistance.

3. Bicycle ID Sticker

Bikes parked on campus without an ID will be towed away to NTU Shuiyuan Campus.

Please request one bicycle sticker from the main office. The bike sticker is only issued

once a year. The sticker comes with an ID number you can track on the online

(http://140.112.172.91/NTUSearchBike.asp) system if your bike is towed due to

inappropriate parking. Please reclaim your bike with your passport and student ID at

Shuiyuan during 8:00-12:00 and 13:00-16:30 if it has been towed.

4. Photocopier

(1) The copy machine is located on the third floor by the teachers’ computer room.

Please find your “username” on the student list posted by the machine. Your

password is your birthday (MMDD).

(2) Each student can photocopy 100 free sheets each term. You can buy more at the

office if needed (NT.100 for 120 sheets).

(3) Please do not use the copy machine on the fourth floor which is reserved for the

faculty.

一般小病如感冒或身體不舒服到小診所即可，如小兒科、耳鼻喉科、眼科、牙科診所等等；

大病才需要到大醫院去看。學校裡有保健中心，身體不舒服可先去保健中心就診，去看病只

要帶學生證去即可，看診費約在五百元以內。第一次去看診要填基本資料表，需帶護照。

每家業者的預付卡面額及費率不同，但多提供減價時段及網內互打優惠價。多數預付卡

開通日起算 180 天後過期，無論屆時是否仍有通話餘額。每次儲值後即重新計算 180 天的使用

期。若於過期前將額度用完，仍可接聽來電。過期後若仍有餘額，某些業者接受申請將餘額轉

移至其他組號碼繼續使用，否則將從中扣除管理費直到完全抵消。並非所有業者皆可轉移餘

2.1 Clinics

In Taiwan, it is common to go to a clinic, instead of a hospital, for minor illnesses and medical

problems. Pediatric, dental and other clinics are easy to find. There is also a health center on

campus. We advise you to go to the health center first for any minor illness. You need to bring

your passport and student ID to fill out a personal information form on the first visit. Later on, you

need only bring your student ID when you wish to see a doctor at the health center.

Bring 2 ID documents to any retail outlet of a telecom service provider. Passport, ARC, ICLP student

ID, driver's license, and National Health Insurance Card are all acceptable. You can only sign up for a

single number.

The initial airtime credit and the rate vary with different service providers, but most of them offer

discounts during off-peak hours or for inter-network calls. Most prepaid cards expire 180 days after

activation regardless of the balance, and every recharge starts another 180-day valid period. If the

balance reaches 0 before expiration, incoming calls can still be received. For some service providers,

九、簽證

1. 停留簽證

申請

已獲「臺灣大學國際華語研習所」（以下簡稱 ICLP）入學許可之外籍人士，可逕持 ICLP 寄發之「入

學許可」至最近之中華民國大使館、台北經濟文化辦事處或領事館申請「停留簽證」（來台目的請

勾選〝求學〞）。

延期

需攜帶「護照」及「在學證明」、「出缺席證明」(請至少於簽證到期前 2 週向 420 辦公室申請)，

於簽證到期日前 15 日內，至內政部入出國及移民署填寫延長簽證之申請表辦理。

拿到相關文件後請盡速前往辦理，否則移民官有可能視你的文件過舊，有權力請你提供更新的文件。

注意：若簽證上標示入境次數為「多次」，表示每次離台再入境皆可重新計算停留期限。意即，

若在簽證所示入境期限內離開後重返台灣，既自動再獲得 180 天之單次停留權(需延長簽證一至二

次。)(即使你的簽證是「多次」簽證，超過其入境期限，即不得持同張簽證出入境台灣。簽證如可

延長，但入境期限並不會因為簽證延長而延後。)

更換簽證

若簽證上蓋有「不准延簽」字樣或是持短期簽證（14 天或 30 天）者，可試著至外交部領事事務局

申請改變簽證。所需文件包括：

若獲准改變簽證，再至內政部入出國及移民署辦理延簽。請注意:

IMPORTANT NOTES – Please read carefully!

1) IF YOUR VISA EXPIRES, YOU CANNOT APPLY FOR A NEW VISA IN TAIWAN. YOU WILL

HAVE TO LEAVE AND BE FINED ON DEPARTURE.

2) CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATE ON YOUR PASSPORT – YOU WILL NOT BE GIVEN A VISA

IF YOUR PASSPORT EXPIRES IN LESS THAN SIX MONTHS – REGARDLESS OF THE LENGTH

OF YOUR ACTUAL STAY. IF YOUR PASSPORT EXPIRES IN LESS THAN 18 MONTHS, IT IS IN

YOUR INTERESTS TO RENEW IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

A. Visitor Visa

Applying for a Visa outside Taiwan

Those who have already been accepted to ICLP can bring their Admission Letter to a Taiwanese

embassy, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office or diplomatic mission to apply for a visitor visa (valid

for 60 or 90 days). (For “purpose of visit,” please mark “study.”)

Extension

The visitor visa can be extended once or twice; depending on the duration of stay (up to180 days each

stay). Students can apply for an extension within 15 days before their visa expires.

To apply for an extension, please go to the National Immigration Agency with the following:

1. Certificate of Enrollment and Record of Attendance (Please apply at Office 420 at least 1 week before

you plan to go to the National Immigration Agency).

2. Passport

After you pick up the documents, please submit them to the National Immigration Agency ASAP,

otherwise the officers may consider them outdated and ask you to resubmit.)

NOTE: If you have a multiple-entry visitor visa, the visit period effectively “resets” every time you enter

Taiwan. That is, if you leave and return before the date marked “enter before” or “valid until” on the

visa, you will again have a 180-day stay (with one or two extensions) starting from the day of arrival in

Taiwan. (You cannot leave and return Taiwan on the same visa AFTER the date marked “enter before” or

“valid until”, even though your visa is a multiple-entry visa. Extending one's visa while in Taiwan DOES

NOT extend “enter before” date, rather it extends the amount of time one can legally stay in the country.)

A. Visitor Visa (continued)

Switching your Visa

Students with a non-extendable visitor visa or 14 (or 30) day visitor visa may apply for an extendable

visa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Bring the following documents:

Application

You may apply for an ARC : 1) if you hold a resident visa* or 2) after a minimum of four-month

study and if you still have more than three months remaining at ICLP or any university program

in Taiwan recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (Payment of tuition fee for next quarter

is necessary.)

in Taiwan.

e)Study plan and a photocopy (should explain your reason for studying Chinese and

description of the program of study)

f) Health certificate issued within the last three months and its photocopy.

欲延長外僑居留證者，需於到期前攜帶「護照」、「在學證明」、「出缺席記錄」及「外僑居留

證」，至內政部入出國及移民署填寫申請表辦理。

簽證為國家主權行為，中華民國政府有權拒發且無須說明原因。未獲同意核發簽證案件，已繳

之簽證規費依法不退還。

辦理居留簽證需時至少七個工作天，故欲將停留簽證改辦為居留簽證者最好於到期前兩週至外

Step 2：Applying for an ARC

After switching your visitor visa to a resident visa, you can apply for an ARC at National

Immigration Agency with the following:

6. Application Fee (about NT$1,000)

Extension

You should prepare to apply for an extension at least two weeks before your ARC expires.

The granting of visas is an act of national sovereignty; the ROC Government has the right to

reject an application without explanation. Application fees for rejected application will not

be refunded.

Since it takes at least 7 working days to issue a resident visa, apply at least two weeks before

your visa expires.

After obtaining a resident visa, go to the police station to apply for an ARC (Alien

Residential Certificate) and Re-entry Permit within 15 days. The duration of stay shall

correspond to the effective duration given in the ARC.

National Taiwan University exchange students and one-year Taiwan Scholarship recipients

must apply for their ARC within two weeks of entering Taiwan; otherwise, the violator will

be fined. These students should apply for an ARC according to the procedures explained

above.

The information above can be adjusted in accordance with the announcements of the

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Immigration Agency.

C. Punishments and Fine Notice:

1. If you hold a “multiple-entry visitor visa” overstaying in Taiwan for the first time while your

current visa is still valid, you can leave the country, pay the fine at the airport, and come back to

Taiwan without needing to re-apply for a visitor visa abroad. However, from the second violation,

you will have to leave the country, pay the fine, and re-apply for a visa abroad in order to re-enter

Taiwan.

2. If you hold a “single-entry visitor visa” and overstay in Taiwan, you need to leave the country,

pay the fine at the airport, and re-apply for a visa abroad in order to re-enter.

3. Anyone (with or without a visa) overstays in Taiwan will be fined and required to leave

Taiwan and will not have visa-free access to the country within a year.

X、 National Health Insurance

Students who hold an ARC and stay in Taiwan for at least 6 months after receiving your ARC

card (without leaving the country for more than once in this period) can apply for the National

Health Insurance at the District Office of your residence:

Please bring your ARC and a name chop to apply for NHI. The Insurance fee is about NT$700

per month. The bill will be sent to your mailing address by the Bureau monthly.

XI、 Accident Insurance

ICLP offers student accident insurance. Those who need to get insurance should apply on

registration day; to extend the insurance, please apply at the Office 420 before the last week of

each quarter. The earliest starting date for each quarter is indicated on the following table.

However, if you pay the fee after the starting date has passed, the coverage will be valid

from the following day after the fee has been paid. When this occurs, the period will be

shorter, but the fee remains the same regardless of the duration of coverage and is

non-refundable.

This section does not attempt to list all the restaurants in the surrounding area. However, there

are a couple tips that can be applied to any eatery that you desire to enter.

Concerning cleanliness, many of the restaurants in this guide are fairly clean. However, when

judging the cleanliness of a particular place, besides looking at the floors, tables and chairs, you

may want to pay attention to how the dishes are washed. Sometimes, the dishes are washed

outside on the streets with cold water.

There are a number of the fruit juice shops, especially during the hotter seasons. One should be

very careful about these stands, as sometimes the ice which is put in the drinks are handled in an

unsanitary way (placed on the floor before being put in the freezer, etc.). There are also a

number of baobing (刨冰: shaved ice with various bean, fruit or sweet toppings) shops. Again,

water sanitation may be a problem. In the end, if you're not comfortable with the hygiene at a

particular location, you can ask that no ice be added, or visit another shop.

In addition, there are a few places on campus where food can be purchased. The Student

Activity Center (學生活動中心) has a cafeteria. The Fuli Zhongxin (福利中心, next to the post

office) sells beverages, popsicles, biandang (便當, box lunch), and other interesting snacks.

9 Women's Dormitory (女九餐廳). You can't miss it—it’s the prison-like structure located on

the corner at the end of the lane.

Taipei is a pretty safe and comfortable city to explore on foot. We encourage you to walk as much

as you can if you have time, so that you can see all of the interesting yet hidden aspects of this

city.

As a city that has been highly urbanized, Taipei is famous for its easy-to-follow

transportation system. Buses and metro (or MRT) can take you to almost every place in Taipei. To

reach places not readily accessible by bus or MRT, we encourage you to take advantage of the

public bike-sharing system, YouBike, which is cheap and environmentally friendly. To board any

type of public transportation in Taipei, all you need to do is obtain a valid Easy Card (悠遊卡)

from a MRT station, register it with your name, and add money to it, then, as long as you still

have cash value on the card, you can fully enjoy unlimited rides.

It is also feasible to have a motor scooter or a car, given that you pass the local driving

license test or exchange your country’s driver license for an official international driving permit

from your home country—rules and conditions still apply. Taking a taxi is safe and not

particularly expensive, and most drivers are professional and do not make detours. If you have

consumed alcoholic drinks, please do NOT attempt to drive or ride a motor scooter, as doing so

would incur a high fine or even detention at the police station for a couple of days.

Last but not least, although it is easy to get around Taipei using public transportation, it is

important to ALWAYS LOOK BEFORE YOU CROSS THE STREET. We never know when

a careless driver might be on the road.

stations, major crossroads and venues around the city.

*The fare for each zone is currently NT$15. Most rides within Taipei city do not go through more

than one zone. Bus drivers DO NOT provide change so students should prepare exact change

before boarding (otherwise, a NT$15 bus ride may end up costing a student NT$100 or more!).

The fare may be paid by using an EasyCard (see below), or in exact change on the bus. Some

buses require payment upon boarding, others upon leaving; a sign on the bus will specify this. A

traveler should not have to pay twice unless he/she has traveled through more than one zone.

additional 0.2 km. Besides, passengers will be charged a surcharge fare, which rises along with

Useful Bus Routers

The destinations and suggested bus routes included below have ICLP as the point of departure.

中央研究院 (Academia Sinica)

Take bus #74 to the stop on Renai Lu (仁愛路) just before the traffic circle. Switch to bus #270.

It costs you NT $45 and the ride is at least half-and-hour, depending on traffic conditions. You

can also take #284 to the stop on Zhongxiao Donglu (忠孝東路五段或市立工農站) and switch

to bus #270 or #212. This ride only costs you NT $30. Academia Sinica will be on your left.

Ask the bus driver which stop at which to get off.

美國運通銀行 (American Express)

Bus #74 on Heping Donglu (和平東路) can take you to the intersection of Dunhua Beilu (敦化北

路) and Minsheng Donglu (民生東路). The American Express office is kitty-corner from the

bus stop.

Bus #74 now runs up Fuxing Beilu (復興北路) but it is still the best bus to take.

美國在台協會(American Institude in Taiwan)

At the intersection of Fuxing Nanlu (復興南路) and Xinhai Lu (辛亥路) , you can catch bus #209.

The route runs up 復興南路 and will turn left at Xinyi Lu (信義路). Get off at the first stop

after the turn. AIT will be on the south side of the street.

美國銀行(Bank of America)

Take bus #74 to the intersection of 敦化北路 and 民生東路. The bank of America will be

located on 民生東路 to your right. See above.

故宮博物院 (National Palace Museum)

At Taida's Xinsheng Nanlu (新生南路)entrance, take bus #280 with the white sign or #606 to

Zhongzheng Lu (中正路) in Shilin (士林). It is the intersection with the McDonald's on the

right. At Zhongzheng Lu (中正路)switch to bus #304, #255, #18 heading east. For #304, the

museum is the last stop. Otherwise, ask the driver which stop is 故宮博物院. You can also

take #72 at Heping Donglu (和平東路) to the last stop—Dazhi (大直), then switch to #213

heading north.

Before you walk away from the bus stop in Shilin (士林) for the Gongguan (公館), remember to

write down the location and name of the bus stop. This will eliminate a lot of confusion when

you want to head home.

台安醫院 (Taiwan Adventist Hospital)

Bus #52, picked up on Heping Donglu (和平東路), runs along Dunhua Nanlu/ Beilu (敦化南/北

路) and will turn left onto Changan Donglu (長安東路). Get off the first stop after the turn.

The Adventist Hospital will be across the street from the stop. Bus #74 also goes past the

hospital. Get off after the first stop after the intersection of Changan Donglu and Dunhua Beilu.

西門町 (Xi Men Ding)

This is a shopping and movie theater district. To get there, take bus #235 on Heping Donglu (和

平東路) across the city. You will pass Zhonghua Lu (中華路) and hit a small traffic circle with

a McDonald's directly in front of you. Get off at the stop right after the circle. Or bus #209

stops at Zhonghua Lu, and you can walk across the pedestrian sky walk.
