1 Introduction to the laboratory

This laboratory is called Beijing Key Laboratory of Flow and Heat Transfer of

Phase Changing in Micro and Small Scale. Through the communication with Dr.Jia's

doctoral students and searching information on the website, I will show you the details

about the laboratory.

1.1 Introduction to the experimental platform

Through the understanding of Beijing Key Laboratory of Flow and Heat Transfer

of Phase Changing in Micro and Small Scale of Beijing Jiaotong University, some

functional aspects of its experimental platform and instrument were realized.

Mixed working fluid pool boiling test platform

It mainly studies the boiling mechanism of non-azeotropic mixed working fluids,

and obtains the dynamic behavior and boiling heat transfer characteristics of bubbles

during boiling process by means of visualization and temperature and pressure

measurement, which provides theoretical guidance for the industrial application of non-

azeotropic working fluids. There is a heating surface inside the body, the heating area

is 1cm*1cm, and the generation of single or small bubbles is realized to observe the

dynamic behavior of the bubble and combine it with the boiling heat transfer

Micro-nanostructure surface steam condensation experimental platform

As a highly efficient form of heat transfer, steam condensation plays an

irreplaceable role in power generation, heat management, water desalination and

recovery, and indoor environmental regulation. Improving steam condensation heat

transfer performance and promoting condensate removal will greatly Saving energy and

resources, the micro-nanostructure surface steam condensation experimental platform

mainly studies the dynamic behavior of droplets on the surface of micro-nanostructures

and the macroscopic heat transfer characteristics of the surface during steam

condensation process through visual and experimental measurement methods. The

theoretical basis for achieving the enhancement of steam condensation heat transfer.

Microchannel-separated heat pipe system experimental platform

Today, with the rapid development of high-speed rail, electric traction has become

the mainstream traction mode of rail trains. IGBT is the "heart" of traction electric drive

system. The high temperature is the main cause of IGBT damage. Microchannel

evaporation section-separated heat pipe experimental system, heat transfer experiment

under pure gravity drive system, start-up characteristics, stable operation characteristics

and heat transfer mechanism study; heat-driven characteristics and mechanism research

under power drive; micro-integrated IGBT module Study on the structural form of the

channel evaporation section.

Microchannel condensation test bench

The steam condenses into a liquid state in the microchannel, observes the change

of the condensing flow pattern in the microchannel through a high-speed camera, and

measures the temperature and pressure data to study the heat transfer performance of

the microchannel condensation, and calculates the heat exchange intensity through the

change of temperature. The reinforcement of condensation heat transfer in the

microchannel provides a theoretical basis.

Separate microchannel condensing heat exchanger experimental

platform

Through the visualization method, the flow pattern change of the steam flow inside

the liquid-collecting condensing heat exchanger is observed, and the overall heat

transfer coefficient and pressure drop characteristics of the heat exchanger are studied

through experimental means, and the heat exchanger is compared in the presence or

absence of liquid separation. Performance improvement and proper pipe optimization.

Horizontal long thin channel flow boiling experimental sub-platform

The steam generator is the hub of the pressure reactor power unit that connects

the first and second circuits. In the nuclear reactor, when the cooling water comes to

the steam generator with heat, the heat is transferred to the cooling water in the

second circuit through the heat transfer tube, so that the water in the second circuit

boils, and the generated steam drives the steam turbine to generate electricity. The

traditional two-circuit has a large diameter, which occupies a large space, and the heat

transfer situation is not ideal. However, its performance and safety directly affect the

performance and safety of the entire nuclear power plant. With the development of

steam generators in the direction of high power and miniaturization, modern nuclear

power plants hope that the structure of nuclear power plants will be more compact.

Therefore, in order to increase the specific volumetric energy density of heat

dissipation, the study hopes to provide basic reference knowledge for the design of

large-scale plate evaporators.

Lithium ion power battery microchannel heat exchange cooling

experimental sub-platform

With the increasing importance of energy conservation and emission reduction,

the development of new energy vehicles is the main development direction of

transportation energy conservation. Thermal management is one of the core

technologies that restrict the development of batteries and electric vehicles, and has

always been the focus and hotspot of research. Lithium-ion battery cooling test bench

is mainly used for cooling experiments of large-capacity lithium-ion batteries for

electric vehicles. It studies the cooling effect of batteries under different charge and

discharge ratios, ambient temperature, working fluid flow and different battery

combinations. The cooling of the battery pack provides engineering guidance to ensure

that the battery operates properly at lower temperatures.

Porous medium flow heat transfer experimental system

Based on the single-blowing method, the experimental platform for measuring the

fluid-solid coupling heat transfer characteristics in porous foam media was established.

The integrated control, measurement and data acquisition were realized by electronic

control design. By measuring the temperature transient of the airflow and the solid

skeleton when the airflow flows through the foam porous medium, the inversion

method is used to determine the convective heat transfer coefficient; and the

reciprocating ventilation is used to measure the temperature of the airflow during the

cycle time to obtain the heat recovery efficiency.

1.2 Research direction

There are four main research direction, They are microscale fluid flow and heat

transfer enhancement studies, microscale boiling and condensation process flow and

heat transfer studies, nanofluid flow and heat transfer theory and technology, and high

energy beam metal phase transition heat transfer studies. And I will show you the details

about the research direction.

Research on Micro-scale Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer Enhancement

Research content: basic theoretical research on gas flow and heat transfer

mechanism in microchannels; research on liquid flow and heat transfer characteristics

in microchannels; research on microchannel heat exchangers.

Research unit: gas microscale flow and heat transfer research; liquid microscale

Study on Flow and Heat Transfer in Microscale Boiling and

Condensation Process

Research content: study of supercooled boiling flow and heat transfer

characteristics in small channels; study of gas-liquid phase transition behavior in

microchannels; study of flow and heat transfer characteristics in small channel

condensation process; microstructure transfer behavior and proton membrane fuel

Research on dynamic mass transfer mechanism of batteries.

Research unit: research on microchannel boiling heat transfer characteristics;

microchannel bubble motion behavior and heat transfer research; fuel cell diffusion

behavior research; pulsating heat pipe mechanism research; High-power power battery

thermal management phase change technology research.

Nanofluid flow and heat transfer theory and technology

Research content: research on flow and heat transfer mechanism of nanofluid

pulsating heat pipe; research on nanowire motion characteristics in solution under

complex multiphysics; theory and application of nano magnetorheological fluid.

Research unit: nanofluid performance research, magnetic nano-solution

condensation and sealing research, nano-solution pulsation heat pipe research,

nanowire solution characteristics research.

Study on Phase Change Heat Transfer of High Energy Beam Metal

Research content: Research on local thermophysical phenomena induced by laser

source characteristics; research on gas-liquid and solid-liquid interface characteristics

of high-density energy melting pool.

Research unit: numerical study of molten pool characteristics, research on metal

welding phase change transfer process.

1.4 Papers published in the laboratory

There are totally about 141 paper published in the laboratory, Mainly included in

SCI and EI, and among the doctoral students of professor Jiali, I think Peng Qi, An

Zhoujian and Dang Chao are doing research in the direction of Microscale Fluid Flow

and Heat Transfer Enhancement. Ding Yong and Zhang Yongxin are doing research in

the direction of Flow and Heat Transfer in Microscale Boiling and Condensation

Process.

further action steps

In my opinion, I think there are some advice on the cooperation about two schools.

First, Conduct in-depth and meticulous discussions on laboratory research projects,

I think knowing about each other is an important and necessary thing, and then we can

assign some students who interst and know the project to the laboratory to study with

the team and receive further education with the team.

Second , not only can students communicate, but teachers can also conduct

academic discussions. I think it’s important for Beijing jiaotong university to establish

the international relationship with Ostfold university college. And the Ostfold

university college also can conduct academic exchanges. The teachers from two school

can talk about something academic.

Third, it is also a good way to learn and communicate with companies in both

countries. Through learning the different company culture and management mode can

we get the benefits each other.

2 Introduction to the School of MECE

the School of Mechanical and Electronic Control Engineering, In the

undergraduate training stage, there are six majors, namely Mechanical Engineering,

Vehicle Engineering, Measurement and Control Technology and Instruments

I will introduce the school directly firstly, and then I will briefly summarize each

major and discuss the same points and differences.

2.1 Detailed introduction of different majors

Mechanical engineering

Training Objectives of Mechanical Engineering: Training and meeting the needs

of modern manufacturing development, possessing good humanities and social

science literacy and sustainable development potential, mastering solid basic

knowledge of mathematics, foreign languages, physics and computer applications,

with expertise in mechanical design, manufacturing and automation. With advanced

skills and engineering skills, and with international vision and teamwork ability, he is

able to engage in advanced engineering and technical personnel in design,

manufacturing, technology development, applied research and operation management

in the field of mechanical engineering in research institutes and manufacturing

enterprises

During the school, students must learn theoretical mechanics, material

mechanics, engineering drawings, mechanical principles, mechanical design,

mechanical manufacturing techniques, metalworking internships, and knowledge in

addition to mathematics, physics, chemistry, English, and computer science.

Professional basic courses such as internships and mechanical creative practice. On

The major relies on the national-level mechanical engineering experimental

teaching demonstration center to carry out a large number of experimental teaching,

and at the same time arranges four integrated comprehensive practical teaching links

through the mechanical principle scheme design, mechanical system innovation

design, modern manufacturing technology and electromechanical system design.

Project-based teaching methods are used to comprehensively develop students'

engineering practice, teamwork and innovation.

Vehicle Engineering

The predecessor of the vehicle engineering of Beijing Jiaotong University is the

railway vehicle and diesel locomotive that was established in 1958. The rofessionally

applied engineering of transporting tools is a national key discipline. The vehicle

engineering discipline is a key discipline of the Ministry of Railways. The further

study of students exceeds 35 % per year. After the school was transferred from the

Ministry of Railways to the Ministry of Education in 2000, the professional name was

changed to mechanical engineering and automation (railway locomotives), but the

railway features have not changed! In 2007, the majors of mechanical engineering and

automation (railway locomotives) successively obtained national-level specialty and

Beijing-specific professional construction projects; in 2011, with the approval of the

Ministry of Education, the professional name was changed to vehicle engineering.

It has the background of large-scale rail transit engineering, meets the needs of

key technical fields of rail vehicle engineering, has solid basic theory, systematic

professional knowledge, strong engineering quality, professional expression ability and

engineering practice ability, and has international vision and teamwork ability. , capable

of competent engineering talents in the design, manufacture and operation management

of rail transit vehicles.

In the process of converting high-speed EMUs from “Made in China” to“Created

in China”, the profession has fully utilized the professional construction experience

and solid foundation of more than 50 years of rail vehicles, advancing with the times,

relying on national key disciplines, scientific research support, and school. Enterprise

cooperation, continuously strengthen the construction of professional connotation,

solve the problem of how the knowledge structure and ability of featured

professionals can adapt to the development needs of the industry, the "win-win"

mechanism of joint development of talents by schools and enterprises, and how the

discipline advantages lead professional development. This major has become a

national-level specialty, the first batch of outstanding engineer training program pilot

program, national professional comprehensive reform demonstration program;

cooperation with enterprises to establish two national engineering practice education

Measurement and control technology and instruments

The measurement and control technology and instrumentation profession pays

attention to the "electromechanical combination" in the process of student training, and

integrates the teaching reform results of our school in recent years, fully embodying the

teaching characteristics of "wide caliber, thick foundation, heavy personality, strong

ability, and innovation". Two years of mathematics and natural sciences, humanities

and engineering, professional basic courses, two years of professional courses. In the

training plan, we pay attention to the cultivation of practical links and students' practical

ability. The practice links run through the university for four years, and the practice

ratio reaches 57%. The mechanical design of the course is a national bilingual class.

The engineering training and mechanical principles are Beijing-level quality courses,

the automatic control principle, the measurement and control system design, and the

computer control technology are the school-level quality courses.

Training objectives of measurement and control technology and instrumentation:

Cultivate in line with national development needs, has a solid natural science

2.3 Same points and differences

Same points: in my opinion, they all belong to engineering subjects, and students

in different majors will all learn the same courses in sophomore, called public

foundation course, and then they can choose what they like for further education.

Additionaly, Students will take course-related lab classes, physics experiments, etc.

Differences: there are many different aspects in the six majors.

From the overall design of the course, industrial engineering belongs to the

discipline of engineering and management. International engineering class for

mechanical engineering belongs to the international training mode. The other four

majors belong to traditional engineering subjects.

From the content of the major, there are many differences, Mechanical

engineering is mainly related to plant mechanical design, manufacturing and

automation, such as design-related instruments for automated operation design. It

works through mechanical products. Vehicle engineering is mainly focused on rail

transportation, such as the design and manufacture of high-speed rail. Measurement and

control technology and instruments are mainly engaged in the automatic detection and

control of instruments and equipment, and play an important role in the control of the
