Selection Guide

When buying a kitchen sink it is recommendable to, consider thefollowing:

Cabinet width – rst of all, you must know the size/width of the sinkcabinet, which has inuence on your choice.

Our sinks are classied according to the minimum required cabinetwidth, namely 400, 450, 500, 600, 800, 900 and 1000 mm plus900x900 mm corner cabinet. Smaller kitchen sinks can be accomo-dated by larger cabinets, but never vice versa. For instance, a sinkdimensioned to t a cabinet of 400 mm minimum width can also beinstalled into any cabinet exceeding the designated size.

Sink orientation – once you have determined the cabinet width,you have to determine orientation of the sink on the kitchenworktop. You can choose among left-hand, right-hand andreversible sink designs. Most of sinks are reversible, you need not toworry about the orientation upon your purchase, as you can turnthe sink with its main bowl(s) according to your needs.

In the next step, you can choose among various materials (stainlesssteel or composite material), various installation types (inset,ush mount, at mount, undermount or sit-on) and, various sinkdesigns .

Sit-on sinks are installed as top end element of one or two kitchencabinets. Height of the sink edge falls with 30 mm thickness ofstandard kitchen worktops. Sinks are normally made also with rearwall rim of 30 mm however there are version without it.

Installation Types

Alveus sinks are suitable for various installation types, thus adjustingcompletely to design and architectural requirements of your kitchen.

Inset sinks are installed into kitchen worktop, thus forming partof continuous working surface. Sink is inserted from above into asuitable worktop cut-out and fastened with supplied clamps.

Flush mount sinks are installed into previously adjusted kitchenworktop made of waterproof material (natural stone, composite

material, glass, impregnated solid wood). Surface of the sink andsurface of the worktop are in the same level. The main advantageis seamless working surface that enables very easy cleaning and anattractive appearance.

Flat mount sink are installed into kitchen worktop so that auniform working surface is created. Thin, almost unnoticeable rimsallow quick and easy cleaning. An additional advantage is simpleinstallation from above into each type of kitchen worktop.

Undermount sinks are installed into kitchen worktop from below.Worktop must be made of waterproof material, such as naturalstone and composite material. This type of installation enablesvarious combinations of undermount bowls in different sizes.Absence of seams between sink and worktop contributes to simplehygiene maintenance and overall appeal of a kitchen.

Sound-Deadening Undercoating

As a contrast to some competing products, all Alveusstainless sinks are serially tted with special sound-deadeningundercoating. This undercoating mitigates the noise from watersplashing upon hitting the sink surface, and thus successfullyincreases the comfort of working and living.

With suitable accessories, such as strainer bowls, choppingboards, detergent dispenser, trays and covers Alveus sinksturn practically into complete small kitchens, furnished for themost delicious activities. Waste Kits and Pop-Up System

Most sinks come with suitable waste system traps in order tofacilitate the installation process. Certain sinks are supplied withpop-up system, which allow remote operation of the drain stop-per. This is very practical for the moments when we wish to closean waste or empty the water out of a full sink without gettingour hands wet.

Seals

Most of the sinks are tted with top-quality Alvoex sealsalready attached to the undersides of their outer rims. This ispermanent xation that enables faster and easier installation,and prevents water leakage under the sink rim to kitchenworktop and cabinet.

Overow

Alveus sinks are designed in a way that the excess water doesnot remain on the level surfaces, but is drained either throughthe central drain or overow. The overow is an opening on thebowl wall or drainer surface, which prevents water from spillingover the sink in case the waste drain is blocked. The overow isthus a kind of a safety device in your kitchen.

Factory-Made Cut-Outs

Assembly of additional elements Alveus is very simple, as theorices for kitchen ttings and eventual other equipment(pop-up waste or detergent dispenser) are mostly preparedalready in production. Thus, there is no need to bother with therisky business of cutting out the precisely located holes yourself.

Undermount Sink Fittings

The undermount sinks can be supplied with special fasteningaccessories, designed to suit installation method as well as typeof worktop material.

Mounting Accessories

The type of fastening accessories depends on installation typeof sinks and kitchen worktop material. There are suitable accessories available for each type of sinkinstallation - I (inset), F (ush), S (at) or U (undermount). ForI, F and S installation method, there are optimum number offastening clips enclosed with each sink, suitable for mountinginto worktops of 30 to 40 mm thickness. For worktops ofnon-standard thickness up to 65 mm, specially designed clipscan be supplied.

Apart from the stainless steel sinks in three nishes(SAT- Satin, LEI - Leinen and MICLEI - Microleinen), our offer includes selected models from high-quality composite material Algranit. Inthe wide range of Algranit colours, you will certainly nd the one that will blend into your kitchen or create with the kitchen a beautifulcontrast.

Top-Quality Materials

Surface nishes

The difference between the nishes is mainly reected in the appearance and partly in the scratch resistance. While the SAT nish pro-duces a polished, easy-to-clean stainless steel surface the LEI and MLEI nishes produce a matte texture, which is less sensitive to tinyscratches, but requires a bit more care. The technical characteristics of the basic material are the same in all varieties; however, certainsinks are not always available in all three nishes.

Special surface treatment of stainless steel

A thin vaporised metal substance known as ceramic nitride is deposited onto stainless steel surface, resulting in:- unique metal lustre,- superior scratch resistance,- extremely hard-wearing protective surface. The surface-treated stainless steel is available in three precious metal colour shades - GOLD, COPPER and ANTHRACITE.Due to the nature of surface treatment process, each sink ends up with unique colour shade.

The main characteristics and advantages of 18/10 stainlesssteel are:

• Easy cleaning which ensures a high level of hygiene• Resistance to high temperatures and rapid temperature

changes (thermal shock)• Resistance to impacts

Since thesinks are made of various materials with specic characteristics,care and maintenance must be adjusted accordingly. Every sink issupplied with care and maintenance instructions. Following therecommendations stated, you will ensure a long service life to yourAlveus kitchen products.

Care and Maintenance

Stainless steel sinks and hob units

Soft cloths and liquid household cleaners should be usedfor cleaning. Avoid silver cleaner, steel wool pads, bleachor abrasive detergents. Do not deposit unprotected metalobjects onto the stainless steel parts.

Should stainless steel come into contact with strong acids,ush it immediately with a large amount of water. To avoidstaining, do not leave food or corrosive substances (e.g. fruit juice, kitchen salt, vinegar, mustard, mayonnaise etc.) onstainless steel surfaces for longer period of time. We recom-mend that stainless steel products be wiped with a dry softcloth after use to prevent scale formation.

Composite sinks

Most stains and dirt can be removed with mild liquidnonabrasive household cleaners or ammoniac-baseddetergents. More difficult stains can be removed with a nepolishing agent; the remains of limestone can be removedwith 9% acetic acid (vinegar).

Chlorine detergents (soda hypochlorite) or hydrochloricacids as well as exposure to strong chemicals (varnish re-movers, oven cleaners, concentrated acids, lye and similar)can damage the sink nish. Should the contact occur, rinsequickly the surface with water. We recommend the use ofappropriate chopping boards.

Kitchen taps

For cleaning of Alveus kitchen ttings it is best to use asoft cloth, hot water and liquid detergent for kitchen sinks.Should scale build up on the tap, remove it with 9 % aceticacid.

Silver cleaners, steel wool pads, bleach or abrasive deter-gents can damage the tap nish, so they should be avoided.Chlorine detergents (soda hypochlorite) or hydrochloricacid can have a similar effect.

Waste segregation bin systems

Waste segregation systems are designed to allow forthe most convenient removal of kitchen waste from thework surfaces. Apart from mixed binning, the systemsenable separate binning of different kinds of biologicaland non-biological waste. Due to various container sizesand large total capacity, they t any home.
