Static electricity is everywhere. At its most spectacular expression appear storms and lightnings. Static Electricity is also generated by friction and separation of two materials where one is nonconductor. This produces a build-up of electric charge on the surface of each material with one becoming positively and the other becoming negatively charged.

The electrostatic charges naturally seek to balance themselves out. Electro Static Discharge (ESD) occurs as soon as contact is made with a conductive element.

Static electricity is harmless to humans. However, it can pose serious threats to sensitive equipment. Vulnerable electronic equipment can be subject to a reduction of sensitivity and even complete failure in the event of an uncontrolled discharge of static energy.

Typical concerned areas include healthcare environments such as operating theatres and intensive care wards, electronics industry and industrial clean rooms.

In technical areas and industrial premises, electrostatic discharges lead to numerous problems. The most frequent among them are: degradation of sensitive electronic components

leading to a loss of performance which is occasionally impossible to detect during routine quality control

MIPOLAM TECHNIC EL5 is a conductive flexible homogeneous compacted vinyl floorcovering available in tiles.The conductive carbon coated PVC pellets create a perfect conductive network for permanent conductive properties and antistatic properties (< 20 V) throughout its full life expectancy.It acts as a continuous conductive 104 Rt 106 (EN 1081) and complies with EN 649.

Mipolam ROBUST EL7 is a dissipative flexible homogeneous vinyl floorcovering available in both sheet and tile. Calendered and compacted. It has permanent antistatic properties (< 100 V). It acts as a continuous dissipater 106 < Rt < 108 (EN 1081) and complies with EN 649.
