When shifting the pump, check that thegreater weight is above the centre line of the packaging itself. In anyevent, check the total weight marked on the packaging.

TO LIFT THE ELECTROPUMP, USE YOUR HANDSOR A ROPE SUITABLE FOR SUCH A WEIGHT;NEVER WRENCH THE ELECTRIC POWER CABLE.

EVM electropumps require accurate installation so that theirperformance and efficiency can be guaranteed long term.

10.1 GENERAL PRECAUTIONS FOR INSTALLATION:

a) Depending on the installation site, choose a supply cable asdescribed below:1) Installation site in the open air; cable H07RN-F2) Installation site in a closed place; cable H05RN-F

The size of the supply cable conductors must be selected (sectionand number) in terms of the nominal current, the length of the cable

used and the type of motor (single-phase or three-phase). (CEI EN60204-1 P.13). Depending on the installation site, use a type ofplug with a sufficient level of damp protection.b) Use plastic pipes with a certain degree of rigidity or else in metal,

to prevent them from collapsing under the vacuum that is createdduring suction.

c) If using flexible suction or delivery pipes, avoid bending them toprevent choking and avoid blockages caused by treading onthem or twisting them.

d) Seal any connections in the pipes; air infiltrations in the suctionpipe have a negative influence on pump operation.

e) Use pipes of suitable diameter. Note that the suction diameter is thesame as the delivery diameter; for the dimensions see (figure 1).

10.2 CONNECTION TO THE MOTOR:

EVM pumps purchased without a motor can be connected to anytype of motor that conforms to IEC standards.

To obtain a correct performance of this operation, proceed asfollows:

- Remove the motor (A) and the pump (B) from the packaging andplace both the motor and the pump on a horizontal surface. All the operations are to be carried out when the motor is notconnected to the mains.

Pumps without bearing on joint:

a) Place the pump in a vertical positionb) Remove the two coupling protections from the motor support (4

screws)c) Unscrew the clamp screws and remove the jointd) Raise the motor, move it into a vertical position with the shaft

turned downwards then position it above the pump. Make surethet the motor and pump shaft tongues are ligned

e) Insert and uniformly fix the 4 motor clamp screwsf) Position the two halves of the joint, aligning the tongue seats

with the tongues on the pump and motor shafts. Insert the 4clamp screws of the joint and fix lightly

g) Use two screwdrivers to lever between the motor support and thecoupling in order to push the coupling towards the motor as faras the motor pump; at the same time, carefully tighten the screwsthat fix the coupling

h) Try to rotate the coupling a couple of times to check that it iscorrectly fixed to the motor

i) Connect the delivery and suction pipes, even provisionally, andopen the delivery valve

j) Fill the pump with water as described in chapter 12.4k) Reassemble the two coupling protections (4 screws)l) Connect the motor to the mains as described in chapter 12m) Run the electropump for some minutesn) Check that any noise and vibrations are of a normal level o) Stop the pump by cutting off the power supply to the motorp) Remove the two coupling protections from the motor support (4

screws)q) Check inside the support to see if any water is present. In the

event of water drawing from the mechanical seal, reposition thecoupling (Ref.i) after emptying the pump (chapter 14)

r) Reassemble the two coupling protections (4 screws)s) Disconnect the suction and delivery tubes if provisionally

connectedt) Electropump is ready for installation

10.3 INSTALLATION:

a) The electropump must be placed on a sufficiently solid flatsurface (see weight on package), as near as possible to a sourceof water

b) When positioning the electropump, observe the requireddistance from inside and outside walls so as to allow functioning, use and maintenance operations in safe conditions (as per EN292-2 p.5.5.1.b)

c) Use pipes of a suitable diameterd) Using a bit, mark the centres of the holes for fixing the base of

the electropump to the surface on which it is to stande) Move the electropump aside for a moment and drill a hole in

each centre to take a screw of Ø 12mm; the holes must besufficiently deep to take an expansion plug of suitabledimensions.

f) Check that the pipes and the electropump are correctlypositioned, then tighten the screws until they are blocked inplace.

10.4 PIPING:

a) Use a suitable support for the suction and delivery pipes, toavoid compromising the alignment of the electropump.

b) To reduce the effect of water hammering, install a fast closurenon-return valve.

c) Suction system:1) The end of the suction pipe should be immersed to a depth

of at least twice the diameter of the pipe and should be at adistance from the bottom of the tank of one or one and a halftimes the diameter of the pipe.

2) Install a suction filter at the end of the suction pipe in orderto prevent foreign bodies from entering

3) The suction pipe should point downwards (over 1/100) inrelation to the pump so as to avoid air stagnation

4) The suction pipe should be as short and as straight aspossible

5) Install the suction reducer as indicated in figure.2 to avoidthe formation of air locks

The electropump has no separate accessories, so no assembly isrequired for installation. If the electropump has to be disassembled (due to breakage or any

other reason), the user must apply to the dealer or to the technicalservice centre.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS RULE RENDERS THEGUARANTEE INVALID.

TO DISASSEMBLE THE MOTOR, PROCEED AS INDICATED INCHAPTER 10.2, IN REVERSE ORDER.

On three-phase EVM version electropumps, check the direction ofrotation of the motor. The impeller must turn in a clockwise directionwhen viewing the electropump from the motor fan side. As it is notpossible to check the direction of rotation of the impeller visually, you should proceed as follows: before anchoring the electropump tothe system and without the pipes, connect the power cables to theelectric panel and turn on the mains switch for a moment; thedirection of rotation of the fan that cools the electropump motor isthe same as the direction of rotation of the impeller. In the event thatit is turning in the wrong direction (that is, anti-clockwise), invert twoof the three wires on the motor terminal board.

12.1 ELECTRIC CONNECTION

ABSOLUTELY AVOID GETTING THE TERMINAL BOARD WET ORDAMP WHEN CONNECTING THE ELECTROPUMP.

THE ELECTRIC CONNECTION MUST BE CARRIED OUT BY ASKILLED TECHNICIAN.

– For connection to the mains, use a cable complyingwith IEC standards of a suitable section (remember totake into account the power installed, as in chapter 7)and of suitable length; bear in mind the mains voltageand the polarity (chapter 7).

– The power cable must be connected to the terminals,as illustrated on the wiring diagram, in accordancewith CEI 6150/26.6.standards.

– The mains must have an efficient earthing system inaccordance with the electrical standards existing inthe user’s country: this is the installer’s responsibility.

12.2 SINGLE-PHASE VERSION (figure 3)

The power supply for the electropump must arrive by means of thefollowing :

a) a bi-polarity disconnecting switch (with min. 3 mm. contactopening);

b) a motor protection thermal-magnetic tripswitch calibrated to thenominal current indicated on the identification plate;

c) Surge protection device, to protect the electrical equipment supplyconductors.

If the installation is fixed, the sectioning device must beinterblocking or positioned in a place which is easily visible from thesite of the electropump. The control panel must be set up and installed by a qualifiedtechnician , or it must be purchased from EBARA PUMPS EUROPES.p.A.. All the single-phase electropumps are fitted with anautomatic reset thermal protection. It is unconnected, and in orderto connect it, follow the instructions below
