The World Expo is a large-scale, global, non-commercial( 没有商业的 ) Expo. The hosting of the World Expo must be applied for ( 申请 )by a country and approved by the international World Expo committee( 委员会 ). Expo aims to( 旨在 ) promote the exchange of ideas and development of the world economy, culture, science and technology, to allow exhibitors to display their achievements and improve international relationships.

Since 1851 when the Great Exhibition of Industries of All Nations was held in London, the World Exhibitions are great events for economic, scientific, technological and cultural exchanges, serving as an important platform( 平台 ) for displaying historical experience, exchanging ideas and looking to the future

EXPO 2005 Aichi is an opportunity( 机会 ) for the linking of all cultures of the world. The world of the 21st century must learn to use the resources of our planet in the most effective way as well as use all its wisdom to find a method of how to live and solve the problems ,such as environment , population . For this reason the Japanese organizers have also made this exhibition “Exhibition of Global Harmony( 和谐 )”.
