Dear Members and Guests,

The golf course has undergone several

changes as per request of Sheshan’s

designer, Neil Haworth. The fairway

bunkers on holes No. 1 and 18 have been

enlarged and moved closer to the fairway.

This looks much nicer and will provide a

little more challenge for the Pros as well as

for our members.

The back left portion of the 8th green has

also been enlarged to accommodate new

pin placements. Previously, the area was

too small to have a pin placement and now

we will have 2 new areas to place the pin

for both daily play as well as during the

WGC-HSBC Champions.

The greenside bunker on hole No. 14 has

also been changed slightly. It is a little

deeper and the face is slightly steeper to fit

in better with the design of the other

bunkers on the golf course.

Finally, in March we will add a new large tree

to the left rough on hole No. 13. In front of

the fairway bunker, we will put a beautiful

new tree to help frame the hole better and

provide more challenge for those who hit

their ball in the left rough.

The course conditions overall are very good.

The dormant rye grass is a brownish color

which is why the golf course isn’t very green

at the moment but the playing surfaces are

very good. The greens are still in excellent

condition and running around 9.5 on the

stimpeter most days.

近期，佘山高尔夫俱乐部设计师 Neil

Haworth 将自己的新理念再一次注入进

球场。改建后，我们加长了 1 号洞和

18 号洞球道旁沙坑并使其愈加靠近球

道。新年新变化不仅让球场更加美轮

美奂，更将为职业球手和会员们平添

几分挑战！

此外， 为配合 8 号洞新的旗杆位置将

扩大果岭左后部分面积。以前，8 号洞

果岭区域过于狭小。现今，经过重新

设计后将会有两处交替摆放旗杆，从

而更好地应对日常打球及汇丰冠军赛

期间的高密度运作。

聪明的设计师在 14 号洞果岭边沙坑这

儿也挥下了神来之笔。略有深度和陡

坡的设计使其更佳地与球场融为一

体。

最后，在三月份我们会在 13 号洞球道

沙坑的左方长草区及前方种植两棵惩

罚大树。繁茂的大树好比带刺的玫

瑰，可要小心打进左侧的长草区哦。

球场总体来说状况非常好。进入休眠

状态的黑麦草裹上棕色大衣，虽不及

绿裙轻逸，但这并不影响击球表面。

果岭仍旧保持着最佳状态，且速度始

终维持在 9.5 左右。

The Way to NCAA

NCAA 之路

Getting in to College in the United States is becoming more and more competitive every

year and for those who hope to play NCAA golf at the highest Amateur level, it is even

more difficult. ACDS (American College Development Services) was founded to prepare

young student athletes to have the best chance to achieve their college goals. Recently,

ACDS organized a trip for coaches from many of the top NCAA Division 1 Colleges

and on Sunday, January 11th, they came to Sheshan to check out some of Sheshan’s top

junior players.

每年想要进入美国读大学的竞争越来越激烈，对那些想在高尔夫业余最高水平

的 NCAA 打球的人来说，这个竞争就更残酷了。ACDS（美国大学发展服务）是

一家为青少年学生球手提供机会进入大学打球的机构。1 月 11 日周日，ACDS

组织了 NCAA 排名在第一梯队的教练们来到佘山俱乐部，为俱乐部的青少年球

手们指点迷津。

Getting a chance to play collegiate golf is a challenge and there are a lot of factors that

have to be considered for international players. There are key classes that must be taken

while in high-school, SAT scores are vital, English proficiency exams are a must, and of

course academic and athletic performance.

有机会进入院校高尔夫打球是很有挑战性的，对于国际球手来说有很多因素要

考虑。例如，在高中时就需要上得一些必须课、SAT 的成绩、英语水平、球场

上的表现等。

While they were here, they were

extremely impressed with the

facilities, natural beauty, and quality

of young players that Sheshan had to

offer. There were coaches

representing schools from all over

America including Yale, University

of Kentucky, University of Oregon,

Boston College, and many more.

Although many of the juniors are still very young, these coaches stress that the earlier

they prepare the better. It’s not uncommon for a team to be filled 2 years in advance

so if they wait until they are 16 or 17 to start exploring options, it may already be too

late. They also stressed the importance of fitness and endurance. Many college

tournaments will play 72 holes in 2.5 days. There are no caddies, no buggies, and no

trolleys so all players must carry their own bags and walk 18 holes on Friday, 36 holes

on Saturday, and 18 holes on Sunday.

排名在 NCAA 第一梯队的大学在全球都拥有顶尖水准的业余球手，竞争就会

NCAA Division 1 has the highest quality of amateur golfers in the world and there is

tremendous competition to get in. Each year, schools will generally only look for 1 or 2

players to fill their team and take spots from those who graduate and move on. With

players looking at US Colleges from all over the world, there is a tremendous amount

of competition to take advantage of these vacancies.

尽管许多青少年仍然非常年轻，但这些教练仍强调希望他们越早做准备越

College golf can be very demanding and juggling a full tournament schedule along

with academics is certainly a great challenge. We look forward to working more

with ACDS to ensure that all of our juniors who are interested in pursuing NCAA

colleges are prepared with the tools needed to take that very big step.

院校高尔夫要求十分高，而平衡学习和打球也是一个非常大的挑战。我们

Rule 24-1: Movable Obstruction

规则 24-1 : 可移动妨碍物

Definition:

定义：

An obstruction is a movable obstruction if it may be moved without unreasonable

effort, without unduly delaying play and without causing damage. Otherwise, it is an

immovable obstruction.

当无需过分费力、不会造成比赛不当延误或引起伤害即可移动一个妨碍物时，

该妨碍物为可移动妨碍物。否则，它是不可移动妨碍物。

A player may take relief, without penalty, from a movable obstruction as follows:

球员可以按照以下方式从可移动妨碍物补救，不用受罚：

a. If the ball does not lie in or on the obstruction, the obstruction may be removed. If

the ball moves, it must be replaced, and there is no penalty, provided that the

movement of the ball is directly attributable to the removal of the obstruction.

Otherwise, Rule 18-2a applies.

a.如果这个球没有位于妨碍物之内或之上，可以将这个妨碍物移走。如果这个球移动，必须将其放置回原

位。如果这个球的移动由移走妨碍物直接引起，不用受罚。否则，适用规则18-2a。

b. If the ball lies in or on the obstruction, the ball may be lifted and the obstruction

removed. The ball must through the green or in a hazard be dropped, or on the

putting green be placed, as near as possible to the spot directly under the place where

the ball lay in or on the obstruction, but not nearer the hole.

On Thursday, 22 February 2015, Sheshan Golf Club was proud to be crowned one of

the Top 10 Golf Courses at the 2014 Asian Top 10 Golf Course Selection Awards and

Asian Golf Industry Summit Forum. Sheshan was awarded this prestigious award

alongside numerous famous golf courses like the Korea Nine Bridges golf Club, Ria

Bintan Golf Club from Indonesia and Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club from

Malaysia.

1 月 22 日，在 2014 年亚洲十佳高尔夫球场评选颁奖盛典暨亚洲高尔夫球

会高峰论坛上，上海佘山国际高尔夫俱乐部荣获亚洲十佳高尔夫球场称

号。同时获得该荣誉的还有包括韩国九桥高尔夫俱乐部、印尼民丹岛乐雅

亚洲十佳高尔夫球场评选是由泰国旅游发展局、韩国《高尔夫指南》、亚洲

杰出成就奖联合会、新浪高尔夫、阿里高尔夫网多家机构联合发起，亚洲十

佳高尔夫球场评选组委会主办，新浪、网易、优酷特约支持，阿里高尔夫网

承办的亚洲高尔夫大型评选活动。旨在打造一个亚洲高尔夫球场评选、交流

的盛会，推动亚洲区域内高尔夫球场资源整合、高尔夫旅游的发展。

The Top 10 golf courses in Asia were selected by board of judges hailing from all

over the world, including the Thailand tourism board, Korean Golf Magazine, Sina

Golf Website and Ali Golf Website. The awards is jointly supported and organized

by Sina, Net Ease,and Youku, and also included a forum which discussed about the

future of golf tourism.
