antonment’s talented International Dance group has been showcased once again when the ensemble performed 活力花园 (Our Garden of Vitality) on February 24th during the Tanjong Pagar and Tiong Barhu’s Community Centres Lunar New Year celebration dinner. When you see these boys and girls perform together it is hard to imagine that the group was only formed two years ago, in 2011 when the school opened! Students were then auditioned and 20+ amongst them were selected to prepare for the Singapore Youth Festival 2012. “It was their very first competition and they won a Silver award,” proudly says Angela Low, one of the parent volunteers who has been helping to co-ordinate the activity. “The children were very proud to have their eorts recognised!” Performing in front of larger audiences is a great opportunity for them to build up their confidence while they enjoy themselves. “Dear parents and guardians, February was marked by many activities related to Chinese New Year celebrations. Teachers from the Chinese Language Committee and parent volunteers from the Chinese Learning Support Group came together and produced an amazing programme for our children that started by decorating the school for this festive season. Around 20 parent volunteers helped during a two-day “Mini Chinatown’ (see photos on page 2-3) during which students had fun trying on traditional Chinese costumes, doing crafts, and enjoyed getting their names written in Chinese characters by 爷爷 (Gao Ye Ye) at the calligraphy stand! The festival ended on a high note with a school concert on February 14th. The PSG would like to thank everyone who contributed to make this event a success and wish everyone a good year ahead! again when the ensemble performed 活力花园 (Our Garden of Vitality)

on February 24th during the Tanjong Pagar and Tiong Barhu’s Community Centres Lunar New Year celebration dinner.

When you see these boys and girls perform together it is hard to imagine that the group was only formed two years ago, in 2011 when

the school opened! Students were then auditioned and 20+ amongst them were selected to prepare for the Singapore Youth Festival 2012.

“It was their very first competition and they won a Silver award,” proudly says Angela Low, one of the parent volunteers who has been helping to co-ordinate the activity. “The children were very proud to have their efforts recognised!”

Performing in front of larger audiences is a great opportunity for them to build up their confidence while they enjoy themselves.
