1 The 4th Joint Meeting of the Japanese Dermatological Association and Australasian College of Dermatologists.第４回日本・豪州合同皮膚科学会

For the three days from July 10, 2009 we hosted the 4th

Joint Meeting of the Japanese Dermatological Association

and Australasian College of Dermatologists at the Hokkaido

University Conference Hall (Photo 1). The many participating

doctors came not only from Japan, Australia and New

Zealand, but also from the U.K., and Asian countries. We were

concerned that the WHO’s announcement of the H1N1 flu

pandemic might drastically reduce participation, but more

than 300 people ended up attending.

The more than 100 presentations, the poster sessions,

symposia and seminars, and the special lectures by many

specialists including Professor John McGrath of Kings

College in London and Professor Rodney Sinclair of the

University of Melbourne in Australia made the meeting

exceptionally fruitful. Doctors from other areas of Japan and

other countries enjoyed our social program, which included

events at Sapporo Beer Garden (Photo 2) and Okurayama

Jump Hill. Professor Gang Wang of the Department of

Dermatology, Fourth Military Medical University, China, who

had done research in our department, gave a lecture and

participated otherwise. We had a wonderful time renewing

old friendships.

With the assistance and cooperation of many doctors on

the organizing and the program committees, we were able

to conclude the meeting successfully. The Koshikai members

in particular helped us by taking time out of their busy

schedules. I would like to extend my gratitude to them.

平成21年７月10日〜12日の３日間にわたり、第４回

日本・豪州合同皮膚科学会を開催させて頂きました（写真

１）。会場となりました北海道大学学術交流会館には日本、

オーストラリア、ニュージーランドのみならず、イギリス、

中国、台湾、韓国など様々な国から多数の先生方にご参加

頂きました。当初はWHOから新型インフルエンザのパン

デミックが宣言され、参加者が激減するのではと懸念して

おりましたが、結局会期中300人を超える方々にご参加

頂きました。

学会では100題を超える一般演題、ポスター発表の他

に、シンポジウム、セミナー、特別講演を開催し、英国ロ

ンドン、キングス大学のJohn McGrath教授、オースト

ラリア、メルボルン大学のRodney Sinclair教授をはじめ、

多数の先生方にご専門分野の講演を頂き、大変実りある会

になったものと考えております。また、会期中にはサッポ

ロビール園（写真２）、あるいは大倉山シャンツェなどで、

多彩なSocial Programを催させて頂き、海外からの参加

者のみならず国内からご参加頂いた先生方からもご好評を

頂きました。特に、以前北大皮膚科で一緒に研究生活を送っ

た、中国第四軍医科大学皮膚科の王剛教授にも講演者とし

てご参加頂き、旧交を温め楽しいひとときを過ごすことが

できました。

今回の学会では組織委員、プログラム委員の先生方を始

めとして、多数の先生にご協力をいただき、盛会の内に学

会を終了することができました。なかでも北大皮膚科甲子

会員の先生方には、お忙しい中多数の先生方に学会場に足

をお運び頂くなど多大なるご支援、ご協力をいただきまし

た。この場をお借りして改めて御礼申し上げます。

As president of the 4th Joint Meeting of the Japanese

Dermatological Association and Australasian College of

Dermatology, I was able to share fun, happy memories with

people from many countries. I would like to express my

gratitude to all the people who made the meeting such a

great success. I renewed my impression of the beauty of July

in Sapporo.

In the afternoon of July 12 (Sun.) the scheduled programs

of the meeting ended. I invited 24 persons, including some

attendees and accompanying persons, to my home for

champagne. The gathering, which started at 6PM, was a

very international affair, with Australians, Japanese, British,

Chinese, Taiwanese and Koreans.

My apartment is atop a six-floor building, and we all talked

while enjoying the view of Hokkaido Shrine and Maruyama

from my south-facing living room. I suggested that we

see the northern view from the roof balcony. The guests

gradually moved from the living room to the balcony.

About an hour later, all of the guests were on the roof

balcony enjoying the view and the champagne in the

fresh evening air. The early evening of July in Sapporo was

exceptionally beautiful. The sky was bright from the late

sunset. The air was fresh and clear. The temperature was

neither hot nor cold. It was a perfect evening for relaxing

after the enjoyable but busy days of the meeting.

第４回日豪皮膚科学会の会頭として、いろいろな国の皆

さんと、多くの楽しい思い出を共有することができました。

皆さまのサポートに感謝します。ところで、今回の学会で

はとくに７月の札幌のすばらしさを再確認しました。

7月12日日曜日の午後、学会の全プログラムが無事終

了しました。午後６時から一部の学会関係者とその同伴者

総勢24人を我が家にお招きし、シャンペンを楽しみまし

た。お客様は、オーストラリア人、日本人はもとより、イ

ギリス人、中国人、台湾人、韓国人がそれぞれ数人ずつと

いう非常に国際色豊かなものとなりました。

我が家はマンションの６階最上階に位置しますが、皆初

めは、南側のリビングルームで、窓から見える北海道神宮

や円山の景色を楽しみながら語りあいました。

「北側のバルコニーからの眺めも良いので、ご覧になり

たい方はどうぞ」と案内しましたところ、そのうち、一人

二人と、リビングルームからバルコニーに移り、一時間ほ

どすると全員がベランダに出て、シャンペンと一緒に、爽

快な気候、眺めをエンジョイしました。７月の札幌の夕刻

は、日没が遅く、空気が澄んでいて、暑くも寒くもなく、

学会の心地よい疲れをいやすにはまたとない美しさでし

た。

The Japanese Dermatological Association Award平成21年度日本皮膚科学会賞（皆見省吾記念賞）受賞

Teruki Yanagi 柳　輝希

At the annual meeting of the Japanese Dermatological

Association held in April 2009, I was honored to receive

the Seigo Minami Award. This award was given for my

paper on model mice for harlequin ichthyosis, published in

Human Molecular Genetics (Yanagi, T., Akiyama, M. et al.,

Hum Mol Genet, 2008). This paper elucidated the barrier

dysfunction in the cornified layer in the initial stage of

embryonic development and abnormality in alveoli cells of

the lungs of the model mice. I would like to thank Professor

Shimizu, Associate Professor Masashi Akiyama, the doctors

in the Pathology Department, and all other doctors and lab

technicians for their part in making this recognition possible.

I will work hard with other young doctors at Hokkaido

University toward helping more of them to receive the award

in coming years.

2009年４月の日本皮膚科学会総会にて、日本皮膚科

学会賞（皆見省吾記念賞）を頂きました。これは2008

年にHuman Molecular Genetics誌に掲載された道

化師様魚鱗癬モデルマウスに関する論文に対するもの

です（Yanagi T, Akiyama M et al. Hum Mol Genet

2008）。この論文では、モデルマウスで認められた発生

段階における角層バリア機能の障害、ならびに肺胞異常の

詳細を解明することができました。今回私が受賞できたの

は清水教授と秋山真志准教授、病理学講座の先生、大学勤

務されている先生方・実験助手の皆様のおかげであり、大

変感謝しております。これからも北海道大学の若い先生達

が続いてこの賞を受賞できるように、良い仕事を一緒に頑

張っていこうと思います。

3 JSID NEWS: From the Office of the Japanese Society for Investigative Dermatology at the Department of Dermatology, Hokkaido University.

JSID NEWS 〜日本研究皮膚科学会事務局からの報告〜Hiroshi Shimizu (Secretary-General, JSID)

When the Office of the JSID moved to the Department of

Dermatology, Hokkaido University in May 2008, we started

e-mail delivery of JSID News. The office was transferred to our

department because I retired as Editor in Chief of the Journal

of Dermatological Science (JDS) and assumed the position

of Secretary-General of the JSID. The former office was at the

Department of Dermatology, University of Occupational and

Environmental Health, where Professor Yoshiki Tokura (the

current present President) served as Secretary-General.

The JSID regularly delivers JSID News in English and

Japanese to its roughly 1,300 members. The most important

role of the JSID is to further internationalize skin research in

Japan and to contribute to the development of dermatologic

at science around the world. The delivery of JSID News has

become routine work for the Secretary-General. I enjoy the

work just as if I were a reporter covering the dermatologic at

science beat.

JSID News, including back issues, can be read at http://

www.jsid.org/. The issues have detailed articles and photos

of JSID activities, such as international meetings and

seminars. Please visit the website to enjoy the articles.

The following are the recent major topics.

1) JSID Kisaragi Juku opensThis project, launched in 2010, is an educational

program for fostering young Japanese researchers. The

name “Kisaragi” is the idea of President Tokura. He gave

the program this name, the classical Japanese name for

February, because the program is held annually in February.

The program is for 40 young doctors who are nominated

by universities throughout Japan. It is held in Okinawa. The

1st JSID Kisaragi Juku was held from Feb. 11 to 13. All the

participants spent a wonderful and meaningful time at the

program.

2) Impact factor for Journal of Dermatological Science (JDS) keeps rising

The impact factor for the 2009 JDS will be announced in

July 2010. The journal’s impact factor for 2009 is calculated

from the number of citations during 2009 of JDS articles

published in 2007 and 2008. The current Editor in Chief,

Akimichi Morita (Professor of Dermatology at Nagoya city

University), confidently expects the journal to earn an impact

factor of 3 or higher. For me, the former Editor in Chief who

retired in 2008, the days in July before the announcement of

the impact factor will be fraught with expectation and some

nervousness.

3) ESDR/JSID Young Fellow Collegiality Awards and SID/JSID Young Fellow Collegiality Awards

The JSID and the European Society for Dermatological

Research (ESDR) started granting awards to promote

international exchanges between young researchers of both

groups in 2009. The awardees will attend the meeting of the

counterpart association and will be given an opportunity

to visit the desired university or research institute in that

country. The JSID started a similar program with the Society

for Investigative Dermatology (SID) of the United States

in 2010. It is expected that the ESDR/JSID and SID/JSID

Young Follow Collegiality Awards will further promote the

internationalization of the JSID.

2008年5月、日本研究皮膚科学会事務局（JSID Office）が北大皮膚科へ移転したのを機会にJSID NEWSのメール配信を開始しました。事務局の移転は、私がJSIDの学会誌Journal of Dermatological Science (JDS)の編集長を退任し、事務総長へ就任したことによります。前JSID事務局は現理事長（前事務総長）である戸倉新樹教授の産業医大皮膚科教室にありました。

現在、JSIDでは全会員（約1300名）へ、英語と日本語の両方で、JSID NEWSを定期的に配信しています。JSIDの最も大きな役割は、「日本の皮膚科学のさらなる国際化」と「世界の皮膚科サイエンスへの貢献」です。JSID NEWS配信が事務総長のルーチンワークとなりましたが、皮膚科サイエンスの新聞記者になったつもりで楽しむように心がけています。

JSID NEWSは、既報も含めJSIDホームページからご覧になれます（http://www.jsid.org/）。国際学会やセミナーの開催案内などJSIDの活動を写真と共に詳しく掲載しておりますので、是非ご閲覧ください。

以下に最近の主な話題を簡潔に紹介します。

１）JSIDきさらぎ塾　開講「JSIDきさらぎ塾」とは、JSIDが2010年より新しく開

始した日本の皮膚科若手研究者育成のためのプログラムです。「きさらぎ」という名称は戸倉理事長の発案で、毎年２月に開催されることから名づけられました。JSIDきさら

ぎ塾は、日本の大学から推薦された若手医師40名を対象とし、毎年沖縄で開催されます。第１回JSIDきさらぎ塾は、2010年２月11日〜13日の３日間にわたりホテル日航アリビラで開催され、参加者全員が大変充実した素晴らしい時間を過ごしました。

２） Journal of Dermatological Science (JDS) インパクトファクターさらに上昇

2009年度のImpact Factor は2010年７月に発表されます。これは「2007年、2008年に出版された本誌掲載論文が2009年の１年間に何回引用されたか」に基づき計算されます。森田明理現編集長（名市大皮膚科教授）は、念願の３点台はまず間違えない、と言ってくれています。2008年に退任した前編集長の私としては、７月の発表までドキドキする毎日です。

３） ESDR/JSID Young Fellow Collegiality Awards: SID/JSID Young Fellow Collegiality Awards

2009年よりヨーロッパ研究皮膚科学会（ESDR）と、2010年より米国皮膚科研究学会（SID）と、それぞれの学会の若手研究員が相互の学会に参加するとともに、各自が訪問国の希望する大学や研究施設を訪ね、国際交流を図るための奨学金賞を開始しました。JSID のさらなる国際化に繋がることが期待されます。

4 International Honorary Membership in the American Dermatological Association (ADA)

American Dermatological Association（ADA）の国際名誉会員の称号をいただき

Hiroshi Shimizu 清水　宏

Last year I was granted International Honorary Membership

in the American Dermatological Association (ADA). During

the few days after I had received notice of this honorable title

from the association, I started to receive nearly fifty e-mails

expressing congratulations and the wish to meet in Salt Lake

City in August. These came from friends and acquaintances,

and even from American dermatologists whom I had never

met. I was slightly surprised, but later I realized that the

association had e-mailed all the ADA members with a

notification of the new International Honorary Members.

At the meeting, the International Honorary Members

were introduced to all the attending members at a reception

and were given opportunities to deliver short lectures. My

old friends Professor Irene Leigh of Dundee University, UK

(President: International Investigative Dermatology 2013)

and Professor Lorenzo Cerroni of Graz University, Austria

were also granted International Honorary Membership and

attended the meeting, which made the event even more

delightful.

昨年、American Dermatological Association（ADA）か

ら国際名誉会員（International Honorary Membership）

の称号をいただきました。ADAは、推薦された人だけが

メンバーになれるというクローズドな会です。これが大変

名誉なことだとは以前から知っていましたが、驚いたのは、

連絡を受けてから数日間の間に、「Hiroshi, おめでとう、

８月にSalt Lake Cityで会うのを楽しみにしているよ」と

いうようなe-mailを、友人はもとより、これまでお会い

したことも無かったアメリカの先生方から50通あまりも

らったことです。ADAのメンバーに、新国際名誉会員の

紹介がメール連絡されたことを後で知りました。

国際名誉会員は、レセプションで推薦者から紹介され、

ADAでのShort lectureの機会が与えられまます。古く

からの友人である、英国Dandee大学のIrene Leigh 教

授（2013年国際研究皮膚科学会の会頭）とオーストリア

Graz大学のLorenzo Cerroni 教授も一緒に国際名誉会員

に選ばれ出席していたので、学会はさらに楽しいものとな

りました。
