Editor’s Note
‘Time’
What really does a word we come across so frequently mean? A
distinct measurement that just gives us the duration of any event or
action, or is it more than that, does it have a value far greater than
we might know? We all know time and space are the basic
foundations of the universe and are concepts to which no answers
are meant to be found. But time has its defining role in every aspect
of the universe, and what matters is how we choose to understand it
- we could see it as the past , the history with priceless lessons, or
as the future , a purpose for the present. No matter what you
choose, the basic dynamics of life remain the same; neither can the
past be changed nor the future predicted. Many fantasies based on
the phenomenon have been made, but none have made a more
formidable presence than Time travel. Time travel has always
signified its presence as a scientific fantasy in our minds that
directly disobeys the very fabric of reality. But what if that
changes? What if it was a fantasy no longer…?
Reader's attention! This edition, you have the power to travel
through time itself, but what will you do with such immense power?
Will you go back in time to the past or forward to the future?
Whichever it might be, here's your chance to share your ideas.

Looking Into My Future
Defy time? That’s something many people commonly speak of,
but I never really thought what I'd do if I got this opportunity
that most would envy. Seeing the future? Yes. Many would say
that they'd go back to the past, re-live and reminisce the
moments that they were most fond of. But, then again – I'm
pretty different, if I do say so myself. I'd look into the future
more, for awaits for me- be it good or bad. If I know what
awaits me – be it my failure or my success, I'd like to know it,
to get prepared for it. Besides, I'm not this person who can
suppress her curiosity or the anxiety of not knowing something.
And when someone like me is awarded the chance of knowing any
clue about what their labyrinthine-future has puzzling planned
for them – I'll steal the chance. All I'd want to know is about
what moulds to be my future.
I don't expect my life to be a cloth weaved with perfect knits
of happiness, merry and joy. I do expect for unfortunate and
unsuccessful events – they are what made me who I am today.
But, I also don't want to lose no more. I'd like to see my future,
to know what hits me and what gifts me. I shall want to know:
How to not lose. I don't want to lose.
Oh, this excites me. What will I see in my future? Maybe I'd
meet a few blokes whom I've always loved – One Direction and
Zayn. Maybe I'd be a successful author, maybe not. Maybe I'd
be a normal lady who works all morning and spends her time
reading every evening. Whatever it is, eagerness and ecstasy is

brewing in me. Whatever shall it be, I'm prepared to know, I am
strong enough, or at least I pretend so.
When I think of defying time, I think of myself falling
inevitably, or more likely, swirling inevitably in air – on a vacuum
space. Clouds surround me and it’s more like a dream. Then, I
feel something zooming into view – a breaking ground beneath
me. My imaginations can be ridiculous and also meaningless – but,
that's how imaginations are supposed to be! Imagination is not
perfect. Everything that you imagine or wish for may not come
true and whole. Thus, you remain unsatisfied, but if you don't
dare to give it a try – it won't even happen! Something is better
than nothing, folks.
Knowing my future, I can be prepared for anything. I'd be
stronger to face any loss. Be brave and handle any problem.
Wiser, to make any resolution. My future, whatever it may be, is
rightfully mine anyway. To know it, to me, is a boon, a privilege.
And to be granted this gift is an honour. Defying time? That’s
something I’ll fantasize about all the time- starting now.

PYP Article of the Month
If I could control time:
This is my dream. I would go back to a time when I was
happy, I would peek into the future, an extremely long
time before choosing some sort of final point to simply
live out my life. I would not have to worry about money
or anything else. I would be truly happy. Sometimes I
would pause time, just for a few seconds. Mainly when
I'm about to die. Sometimes if it is boring I will go to
the past to see the invention of the watch, or a
language, etc. Also, I’ll see World War 1 and 2. I will be
able to control the whole universe. I can also go to the
time when I was born, where I tell my father, “I'm your
child and you can see me like this in 2016”. I can then
come to the present and ask my dad whether I asked or
not. I would also go to space by stealing a spaceship or
rocket, and spend time with some aliens. I can even
change the wrong things I have done. I can predict the
lottery number, so it’s easy to win. But yet I realise that
this will not happen.

Tribute to tradition
The residential students, too, celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi on Monday, 5th
September right here in the hostel. Hearing about them making clay idols, and
attending a Pooja and prayer session along with their friends, it sounds like
they had a more interesting time than any of us at home did!
A busy 1st of October
The school was packed on Saturday, 1st October, with the students of grade VI
to VIII & X and their parents, who were there to attend their PTM, SLC and
MRM. However, a bonus for their busy day was the spectacular Heritage India
event that the very talented students of Grade 7 had put up for them. With
the auditorium decorated and brimming with exciting models on the history,
culture, traditions, famous personalities, geographical land forms and the
scientific achievements of Andhra Pradesh, everyone who visited were

shows and ran a food stall that attracted everyone to it with the delicious
Andhra foods it promised.

Formative Assessments started on Thursday, 01 September 2016 for Grade VI

for grade 8 commenced on Tuesday, 4 October 2016. And a mock obviously means
a super-important examination follows – the Checkpoint Examination for Grade
VIII students began on Monday, 12 October 2015 and completed on Wednesday,
14 October 2015.
While the previous batches had time to rejoice the end of their examinations
and celebrate a while, the present batch were out of luck – They had to write
the Formative assessments along with Grade VI, VII and IX, which commenced
on Monday ,17 October 2016.
The XI graders, on the other hand, had far more important matters to deal
with when their juniors took their FAs. Their IGCSE Board Examination on
Monday, 05 October 2015, and while the Combined Science batch has
successfully completed the exams, the Individual Science

Tech Section Computing and Mobility:
Another year marking the release of an extravagant phone:
The electronics giant, Apple, has once again stolen the show this year with their
exciting release of the new iPhone models which will eventually hit the shelves of the
stores close to you. Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, has launched companion products for the
sleek-looking phones, the highlights being Apple Watch Series 2, Air Pods, and few
more remarkable gadgets.
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus
possess much of the same design
concepts of their predecessors
(the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus). The
antenna lines have been placed on
the top. The addition to the Plus
edition is a dual camera setup
which slightly protrudes for a
stronger presence of the amazing camera. The home button has been altered from a
physical button to a pressure sensitive pad.
Under the hood of these phones is the formidable Apple A10 Fusion chip which is
reckoned to be the most powerful CPU chip ever placed in a smartphone. The display
is the same old bright and colourful Retina HD display, but with more colour punch
and brightness than its predecessor. It will be a disappointment for the music lovers
who like to pop their earphones on and enjoy their playlists often, considering the
fact that Apple has ditched the headphone jack in these new devices, seeming to
believe in a wireless future of listening.
While brushing through the specs, we come across a 12MP back camera paired with
7MP front shooter, 4.7” & 5.5” displays for each, A10 Fusion CPU and storage options
of 32GB, 128GB, or a mammoth 256GB. Colours include the new jet black and black
along with the good old Rose Gold, Silver, and Gold colour options. The flagship device
will be available from 7th October in India. So, when are you getting yours?

named via a simple poll on their webpage. After a short period of time, it was
announced that it was to be named Nougat.
This time, Google has been generous in
making cool new tweaks and adding exciting
features into their new mobile OS. They
include redesigned and new emojis for your
texts, multi-windows, custom quick setting,
bundled notifications and so much more. All
of these features seem to play a productive
roll in everyday life. For the gaming geeks,
the new version of the OS now supports
Vulkan (a GPU API) for more immersive gaming console-like experiences and visuals.
In the future Android expects to blend a dedicated platform interface for the
Virtual Reality experience known as Daydream to the OS.
Android Nougat is now available as an Over-The-Air update for the Nexus 5X, Nexus
6p, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, and the Pixel-C. It should be made available in other recent
flagship phones, too. Surprisingly, LG is also giving its users the opportunity to
experience the OS fresh out of the box with its new flagship, LG V20.

The Affordable beast of a device
The OnePlus 3 packs in a lot of state-of-the-art features which are even better than
its predecessor and its comparatively costly competitors struggle to catch up with its
cool new advancements. Be it incredible processing power or taking pro shots with the
camera, the OnePlus 3 is the way to go.

Book Review – The girl from everywhere
The story revolves around the female protagonist, sixteen-year-old
Nix. The only home Nix has ever known has been The Temptation –
her father’s ship that can steer you away to anywhere in time, to
places real or imaginary provided they are in possession of an
original map. They spend their time aboard the ship sailing to

historical as well as modern
times, but the only map that
Nix’s father wants to get his
hands on may take them to a time
that may alter Nix’s existence.
She is reluctant to help her
father, though the latter may
cost her far more than she
realizes: her sole friend and
infamous thief, Kashmir.
The author paints vivid settings
for readers from 17th century
India to 21st century modern New
York City. It also has a diversity
of intriguing characters and
cultural backgrounds which adds to the overall story. The strained
relationship between the father and daughter is well portrayed and
enables readers to relate with Nix’s emotions. The book also
contains illustrations of maps, which allows readers to create a more
vivid picture of the story inside their heads. The story pace is
moderate, thereby allowing for the chance of a reader beginning to
feeling impatient with it, if he or she prefers fast-paced books.
In short, it explores a different take on time travel that tells a
story about a rag-tag group of time traveling pirates, or rather a
pirate, who finds friendship and self-discovery- a story definitely
worth reading.

Movie Review: Finding Dory
Can you imagine, how it would be to say something and completely forget about
it, in the next ten seconds? Finding Dory is all about that. Dory travels all
around the Big Blue, for just one cause- Family.
The prequel of Finding Dory –Finding Nemo–
that was released in 2003, turned out to be a
stunning underwater adventure that everyone
enjoyed, regardless of their age. 13 years
after that grand success, Finding Dory has
made its way to the stage. In Finding Nemo,
Dory’s role was a funny, enthusiastic and
curious companion for Marlin, while he was
searching for his son. In Finding Dory, Dory
ventures by herself, goes through obstacles
and overcomes her many fears. She needed a
supporting character, and the result of that
was Pixar bringing Hank into the picture.
Hank is this grouchy, but good-hearted
octopus (a septopus actually- he only
has seven tentacles, not eight). Dory
starts her journey, her ears ringing with just two names – Jenny
and Charlie, Dory’s mother and father. A journey unforgettable (even for Dory!),
Dory faces multiple unexpected and unusual obstacles, keeping the audience on
their toes, from crazy sea lions to an eccentric beluga whale with wild echo-
locating abilities. Finding Dory, without a doubt, is a fun but emotional movie
which has left the audience wanting more. This movie skilfully portrays the
inseparable nature of family and tells its viewers that there is always someone
looking out for you, teaching you hope and faith. This movie is easily an 8.7 out
of 10, perfect to watch with your family, all huddled close on the living room
couch, with a big bag of popcorn for the final touch.
