BEKU 2422 SEMESTER III SESI 2010/2011
1.0 Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this subject, student should be able to:
1. Use appropiate common engineering and technology tools. (P) 2. Obey to safety instruction and practices (KI – Ethic and Morale) 3. Describe and interpret symbols, schematic and diagram typically used in wiring, installation and
assembly works. (C,A) 4. Configure and operate winding machine correctly according to the task requirement.(C,P,A) 5. Perform electrical wiring and installation, basic troubleshooting and faultfinding to rectify
problem encountered. (C,P) 6. Exhibit soft skill such as communication skills and team work spirit.(A)
2.0 Synopsis
Modules to be conducted in this subject are essential in an electrical engineering fields and have
not been covered in the normal laboratory subjects. Among the practical works that will be included are
relay controls, motor starters, automation, Auto CAD, domestic wiring, electrical winding works,
instrumentation and measurement procedure as well as troubleshooting and faultfinding works. Besides
that, student will be also exposed to the basic industrial works and technologies related to field of
mechanical, manufacturing and computer engineering tools.

2.0 Synopsis
For this subject, student has to prepare and submit technical report regarding on the practical tasks that they have undergone throughout 10 weeks duration of implemetation. The report has to comply format and criterias that will be outlined by the faculties.

4.0 Course Implementations
BEKU 2432 Engineering Practice Technical Report is to be registered together with BEKU 2422 Engineering Practice. However, the students are required to withdraw the subject if they failed BEKU 2422 Engineering Practice. If students failed for BEKU 2432, they only need to repeat this subject. Each student is required to prepare and send a technical report to every multi disciplined module and electrical engineering practices module that pass through for evaluation purpose. Report that will be prepared must be complied with the format and criteria that is fixed by faculty.

BEKU 2422 SEMESTER III SESI 2010/2011
1. Learning Outcomes
After completing this course, students (or participants) will be able to: 1. Navigate and configure the AutoCAD Interface correctly. 2. Use the drawing commands, editing commands and dimensions command in the development of an engineering drawing correctly. 3. Use the precision drafting tools, layer functions, text functions, block functions, plot functions, title block, template, isometric functions and layout views in the development of an engineering drawing precisely. 4. Develop an electrical schematics drawing, electrical layout drawing, instrumentation or electrical circuits and also simple isometric drawings.
2. Synopsis Introduction to AutoCAD Module specially design for bachelor degree of electrical
engineering students in FKE, UTeM. Student should have the basic knowledge in using computer and in engineering drawings. This module will introduced AutoCAD Interface 2010 Versions, drawing, editing, dimensioning, precision drafting, layer functions, text functions, block functions, title block, creating template, isometric function and understanding the layout views. The process of producing electrical engineering drawings by using CAD software will cover in the practical works. Students will develop an electrical schematics drawing, electrical layout drawing, instrumentation or electrical circuit and also a simple isometric drawings.

1. Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this subject, the student should be able to: 1. Identify basic components for domestic wiring installation correctly. 2. Explain the basic components and tools use in low voltage wiring design appropriately. 3. Construct and install a simple single phase electrical domestic wiring properly. 4. Perform the basic inspection, testing and commissioning of low voltage electrical wiring
system according to BS7671 standards accordingly
2. Synopsis
This module will expose student to the basic components and tools use in basic single phase electrical wiring systems. This module will cover the procedures on safety, basic design, installation, inspection, testing and commissioning of a single phase electrical installation. The experiments are designed to expose student on the practical aspects of the above mentioned topics.
3. Practical Application
Experiments cover on single phase domestic electrical wiring including – installation, inspection, testing and commissioning of electrical installation. Besides, students will use the tools and instruments for installation works in the workshop.

2. Synopsis
Introduction to motor starter module is specially designed for bachelor of electrical engineering degree students in FKE, UTeM. This module will introduce some of the methods for starting electrical motor normally used such as Direct on Line (DOL) and Star-Delta motor starter. The methods will be illustrated through practical works. Students will construct electrical circuits for the methods covered and demonstrate motor start-up using real three-phase electrical motor.
