FM 200 OVERVIEW
FM-200
Developed in 1980’s, environmentally friendly alternative to halon
1301
First system installed 1992
UL listing / FM approval 1994
Hundreds of thousands of systems in over 70 countries
FM-200 Originally Manufactured by Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (GLCC)

FM-200 Great Lakes Chemical Corporation - Formerly largest producers in the world of Halon
1211 and Halon 1301
FM 200 FEATURES
FM 200 has no hazardous physic-chemical properties or health effects and it meets all criteria laid down by Chemical (Hazard Information and Packaging) Regulations 1993.
FM-200® Discharge of 95% of agent must be achieved within 10 seconds
FM-200® is a gas at ambient pressure and temperature[vapour pressure 4.5bar]
FM-200® is pumped into welded steel cylinders at vapour pressure, ensuring the agent is in liquid phase.
The cylinder is then super-pressurised with Nitrogen to operating pressure [25bar]
FM-200® is discharged as liquid from the pressurised container and vaporises at nozzle.

FM 200 PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
FM-200® Natural, non-toxic and efficient this risk specific agent is a
fine spray mist that offers effective protection without the deluge
and damage of traditional water based systems.
FM-200® is only harmful in high concentrations
FM-200® is the clean agent protection for a range of sensitive
applications, many where people are involved.
FM-200® does not deplete stratospheric ozone.
FM-200® is stored as a liquid in steel containers and super-
pressurized with nitrogen to 360psig (2482 kPa) to increase its
discharge flow characteristics

system operation steps Activation of any detector on either circuit shall;
1. Illuminate “ALARM” on FECP2. Energize Bell (1st Stage Alarm)3. Send alarm signal to Main Fire Alarm Control Panel.4. Shut down HVAC
Subsequent operation of a “Cross-Zoned” detector shall;1. Illuminate “pre-descharge” on FECP2. Activate Strobe/Horn (2nd Stage Alarm Sounder)3. Initialize discharge delay “Evacuation Timer” 30s.4. Enable system abort sequence5. After preset time delay, release agent circuit activated. FM200 is
Released. 6. Activate discharge strobe

FM 200 HYDRAULIC CALCULATION
W=(v/s) * ((c/(100-c)) W = weight of clean agent V = net volume of hazard
V= AREA * HEIGHT S =specific volume s.h agent S : NFPA 2001 –Appendix A- Table A-3-5.1C = concentration of agentC : RANGE (7% TO 9% ) TAKE IT 7%T= temperature of place T : Different according to application condition
Solved example illustrate how to determine amount of fm200 and distribution of piping
FM 200 HYDRAULIC CALCULATION
Control room area 10m*5m with height 3m and its temperature 30CCalculated total weight of fm200 and draw net work with sizing and number of nozzle ?
Solution Step one :write the law of weight W=(v/s) * ((c/(100-c))
Step two : cal. Volume & V= 10*5*3=150m3Step three : get the s from NFPA2001 from Table A-3-5.1
match with T= 30C s= 0.1425 (m3/kg)
Step four : put c= 7%Then , w= (150/0.1425)*(7/93)=79.2 kg of fm200
Manual method
FM 200 HYDRAULIC CALCULATION
Programming method
You can use different programBut
Program calculation Should
Or Near
Equal to Manual calculation
This is program window Click on
fire option Then Select fm200
Will appears to you
window of data input
put the area
put the height
Put the temperature
After date input
Click calculate
This total amount of
Fm200
You can see
manual equal to program
79.2 kg
So You are right
AndUse this program
