Risk of major accident – the initiative

BACKGROUND

• ConocoPhillps, ExxonMobil, Total and Petoro formed a project to establish how we as licencees can contribute to increase the focus on reducing risk for major accidents by;

– Defining the role and responsibilities of the licencees with respect to managing risk of major accidents

– Etablish a process to follow-up major risk elements in the licence(s)

– Implement the process on a selected field

OBJECTIVE

• Reduce the risk of major accidents by:

– Strenghten the licence(s) focus on risk for major accidents

– Ensure better, uniform and structured transfer of experience between the participants in the licence(s)

– Contribute to positive development of the Operators risk management process

– Ensure compliance with the «see to duty»

• OBJECTIVE – Workshop to establish the risk picture for the licence as Petoro sees it, prior to the

workshop in the licence – Participants; Asset manager, MC & TC reps, drilling, HSE

– To ensure experience transfer and competence building 2 or 3 fields are covered in the same workshop

• STRUCTURE – First discussion round the table is based on contribution from the asset

manager – Theme – Risk – Source – Measure – Status

– Second discussion round based on a checklist – To ensure as complete a picture as possible

• IMPORTANT with solid «homework» by the licencees upfront the yearly workshops in the licences – Competency
