L’an 2003 marque la naissance de Free Launch avec un line-up inchangé à ce jour. Le groupe constitue le lieu de rencontre de musiciens aux horizons musicaux divers : rock, metal et electro, unis par une même passion pour la musique. De cette fusion d’infl uences naît le son de Free Launch. En 2004 sort une première demo 4 titres qui permet au groupe de trouver des dates importantes dans des festivals belges tels que le «Nandrin» ou la «Fiesta du Rock». La seconde demo défi nit plus clairement le son actuel et séduit elle aussi plus d’un organisateur.

Après avoir gagné en maturité et défi ni clairement l’orientation musicale, la réalisation d’un album s’imposait comme une évidence et un aboutissement.

Cette année 2009 verra donc la sortie offi cielle de « Human Contradiction ». Le thème général est le questionnement de l’homme par rapport à lui-même, sa vie, son ego, sa relation aux autres… et sa mort.

Au niveau scénique, l’aspect visuel a été renforcé, pour les concerts en salle ou nocturnes, grâce à l’utilisation de «body painting» et de «lumière noire».

Le groupe collabore avec VJ Ackeron qui, en plus d’être le graphiste de l’album, apporte sa touche visuelle lors des concerts.

The year 2003 marks the birth of Free Launch with a line-up that remains unchanged up to this day. The band is a meeting place where musicians of various musical backgrounds (rock, metal and electro) unite for a shared passion of music. This fusion of diverse infl uences shapes the sound of Free Launch.

In 2004, the fi rst demo is released and gave the band the opportunity to play important gigs in Belgian festivals such as the “Nandrin”, the “Fiesta du Rock”, etc.

The second demo (2005), defi nes even more clearly the style and the direction that the band is taking. The response is extremely positive and attracts more than one organizer.

In 2008, with its gathered maturity and writing skills, Free Launch became aware that it was time to push a little further by making their fi rst album.

“Human Contradiction” will be offi cially released early 2009. The general theme revolves around man. Man in relation to himself, his life, his ego, his relationships ... and his death.

The scenic appearance has been worked out, for indoor or night concerts , with the use of body painting and black lights. The band is also working with Vj Ackeron who, apart from being the album designer, brings also his visual touch during the concerts.

L’aboutissement de plusieurs années d’écriture«Human Contradiction» est le premier album de musiciens qui se sont donnés le temps de murir et de perfectionner leurs compositions. Le groupe y démontre toute son inspiration et son originalité, sans concessions, sans limites. Une fois pour toute, cet album défi nit le style particulier de Free Launch, qui explore sa propre voie, en tirant avantage des multiples infl uences des membres qui le composent.Des grosses guitares, de l’électronique, et une voix mélodiqueSi on veut classer l’album dans la bonne catégorie, la comparaison à certains groupes est un passage obligé... Les rythmiques carrées de «Why», «The Day Before I Die» ou «Things Are Not...» peuvent faire penser à Rammstein ou Oomph!, mais le chant mélodique se rapproche de Faith No More voire de Pain. «No Matter What» s’apparente à du Prodigy gonfl é aux guitares électriques. Les arpégiateurs trance de «What I Am» feront place aux pianos d’un Paradise Lost. «Heavy Lie» vous noiera dans la sophistication d’un Celldeweller. Les envolées de «Black Or Red» rappellent Muse, mais c’est sans compter que Free Launch aime surprendre... en y ajoutant sa touche.Un album conceptLes titres le révèlent déjà: les paroles portent sur les questionnements et la complexité de l’homme. Un thème qui lie les 13 titres, et que l’illustrateur Ackeron a parfaitement concrétisé en réalisant tout le digipack.

Ultimately, this album defi nes the band’ style, which explores its particular way of making music by taking advantage of the numerous infl uences that are driving the different members.BIG GUITARS, MACHINES AND MELODIC VOICEIf there is a need to categorize the album, some comparisons to other bands can however be done...When listening to the straight forward guitars of “Why”, “The Day Before I Die” and “Things Are Not What They Seem”, the names of “Rammstein” or “Oomph!” will easily come to mind, yet the melodic vocals are closer to the likes of “Faith No More” or “Pain”. “No Matter What” is a guitar driven “Prodigy”. The trance arpegiator of “What I Am” mixed with pianos would probably make you think of “Paradise Lost”. “Heavy Lie” will sink you in a sophisticated world close to “Celldweller”. The melodic progressions of “Black or Red” inevitably recalls “Muse”. Nonetheless, Free Launch likes to surprise you... by bringing its very own touch.A CONCEPT ALBUM As the track titles already show, the lyrics are related to the self-questioning and the complexity of man.
