Our Inherited Corporate DNA Drives Our Further Evolution.

Futaba Corporation was founded in 1948, just after World War II, to manufacture and sell vacuum tubes. Since our founding, we have supplied components

that underpin a variety of fields with trustworthy technology and quality. This is in line with our corporate philosophy of "Honshitsu-no-Chokushi” (to look

deeply into the nature of things and investigate it thoroughly). Thus, through our business, we have contributed to the expansion of industry.

As technology has evolved, we have expanded our product lineup to meet the advanced demands of a wide range of fields. It now includes: Vacuum

Fluorescent Displays (VFDs) and Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) Displays, touch sensors, radio control equipment for industrial and hobby use,

machinery and tools for dies and molds such as mold bases, plate products and mold streamlining equipment.

In an age that continues to evolve daily, companies are required to act with a sense of urgency. Moving forward, we plan to use the following strategy

to expand our business. We will strengthen manufacturing by incorporating advanced technologies like AI and IoT. We will exploit global management that

utilizes our worldwide network. And we will focus on strengthening new product development by evolving and combining Futaba technology.

As our company orients toward the next stage of development, we will push forward with “creating equipment, materials and services which are

indispensable” as we to share our joy and passion with all stakeholders. We would appreciate your continued support.

Developing innovative new products that will support the cars of the futureAs the field of on-board equipment becomes more integrated with electronics and ICT, interfaces will need to be considered from new angles. We are pursuing new touch sensors with integrated cover glass, curved surfaces and various shapes with on-board equipment quality that will support safety and comfort while driving. We will implement free design to respond to diverse needs and replace mechanical switches with touch sensors to cater to the future needs of car manufacturing.

Innovation in Touch Sensors

Our advanced display technology is being utilized in increasingly more areas as digital society continues to develop.Following the development of film type curved OLEDs, we are pressing ahead to develop transparent OLEDs. We will focus on dramatically improving the design and usability of information equipment like mobile devices and communications robots.

Innovation in OLED Displays

Touch SensorsThese sensor devices employ Futaba’s original thin film technology to achieve high sensitivity and excellent environmental resistance. A thin lightweight substrate with a single glass or film structure and a dedicated controller gives users smartphone-like operation.

Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) DisplaysThese attractive next-generation display devices feature beautiful high contrast, high definition screens. Because they meet the strict quality standards for on-board equipment, they are widely employed in applications such as vehicle instrument panels. For wearable devices, film type curved OLEDs are also available.

Developing products to meet diverse needs As the wave of digitalization has swept over society and daily life, technology and products that can display information in a user-friendly manner will become increasingly important. We have combined our experience and knowledge accumulated over years with new ideas and technology and developed touch sensors and Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) Displays that meet a variety of needs. Their reputation for reliability has led to their use in a wide range of applications including vehicles, home electronics, audio equipment and POS terminals.

Mobara Awa Dance Group (Named “Futaba-Ren”)

In 1977, the Mobara Dance was created to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the municipal government of Mobara City. After much study and training which included visiting the famous Awa Dance Festival in Koenji, Tokyo, it came to be called the Mobara Awa Dance. We formed a dance group named “Futaba-Ren” when the Mobara Dance was created. The group has participated in the festival ever since—marking its 40th anniversary in 2017.

IoT Devices

We engage in product development with the aim of rapidly creating new business. The key is taking our core technology and expertise from existing products and actively merging it with technology developed by other companies. Our research and development delves into all areas of our business. However, our main focus is developing products that utilize communications, controls, sensing and actuators like servos.

We are working on compact energy harvesters (environmental power generators) that promise to power wireless sensor devices that sense the state of a machine or structure and convert it into data and IoT devices.

2. Developing RoboticsWe are developing collaborative robots for simple tasks. And we are pursuing peripheral technologies for the same field, such as control technology and servos.

A collection of experts that fuel Futaba’s creativityFutaba has established the Core Technology Development Center and Mechatronics Product Development Center to hone the technological skills of the entire group. We also aim to develop new high-value added products and create new business to support future society. We have constructed a research and development framework that utilizes the specialized skills of the experts in each area to their maximum potential. These experts strive to produce unique and original technology and products that anticipate the future.

Basic Philosophy

We follow the Futaba Philosophy, “Honshitsu-no-Chokushi” (to look deeply into the nature of things and investigate it thoroughly). With this philosophy, we will manufacture products and conduct all business without losing sight of what is truly important. Our goal is to continue to be useful to society by pursuing our corporate philosophy, “contribute to the prosperity of the global society by creating equipment, materials and services, which are indispensable to our customers”. In order to meet this goal, we recognize that the basics of corporate governance, and one of the most important issues in our management, is to meet our obligations to our stakeholders by ensuring the validity, efficiency and legality of all business operations.

Basic Concept

1. We will make great efforts to ensure the rights and equality of shareholders2. We will make great efforts to cooperate appropriately with stakeholders who are not shareholders3. We will make great efforts to disclose appropriate information and to ensure the transparency of information4. We will make great efforts to ensure the board of directors appropriately executes its roles and responsibilities in order to make fast and resolute decisions

with transparency and fairness5. We will make great efforts to have constructive dialog with shareholders

Basic Policy

Cherry Blossom Viewing Day in the Chosei Factory

The Chosei Factory opens its doors to the public every year at the peak of cherry blossom season. Local residents can enjoy the approx. 600 cherry trees in full bloom. At night visitors can view the cherry blossom illuminated to fantastic effect.

Environmental Education

We have established an annual plan relating to the environment that aims to increase employees’ environmental consciousness and increase their abilities thus leading them to take concrete action.

Emergency Drills

Employees go through emergency drills to determine the environmental impact of emergencies (earthquakes, fires, explosions, floods or other hazardous situations) and minimize such impact.

Developing Environmental Value-Added Products

Our product development guideline is to “create customer value and develop environmental value-added products.” So, we focus on researching and developing new technologies with a minimal impact on the environment.

We have 5 fire trucks in the Mobara, Chosei and Chonan districts. In the event of a fire, we cooperate with the fire department in the area to extinguish it. In this way, we play a part in local firefighting activities. Our Special Fire Brigade marked its 50th anniversary in 2017; the brigade continues to dedicate itself to preventing fires in the community.

Core Technology Development Center

Research and Development PolicyFutaba puts strong emphasis on developing new products that respond to the diverse needs of the electronic device and manufacturing equipment businesses. We strive to achieve sustainable growth and increase corporate value.

Futaba TechnologyWe believe that the secret to remaining competitive lies in perfecting Futaba technology and promoting the development of the advanced core technology behind our next-generation products. Our core technologies include: material technology (light-emitting materials, material design), design technology (optics, thin-film, thick-film, electrostatic, controls, circuits), evaluation technology and simulation technology. We will use open innovation to integrate Futaba’s unique technologies with new outside technologies. This will allow us to create products with a more competitive edge.
