MISSION MODULE
The MM (Figure 7-I) is 37 ft long' It is built in two sections which are
joined with a bolted fietd splice' The forward section is l4-lfZ ft long and
the aft section is ZZ-IlZ ft long. Each section is rnade up of eight corrugated
panels. The diarneter to the inside su¡face of the corrugations is l0 ft'
There are lZ0 corrugations around the circurnference' With the lZ0-in'
diam, the corrugation pitch is thus I ' 57 in'
The corrugated panels are biake forrrred frorn ?0?5-0 alurninurn which is heat
tleatedandagedtoTOT5-t6aftel.forrning.Sheetingl/Bin't}rickisusedforboth the forward and aft sections so thät the sarne brake die can be used'
The panels run the full Iength of each section' They are taper che"m-rnilled'

The MM is joined to the Titan at eight hardpoints' Four of the hardpoints

ated to seParate MOL frorn the booster. The panel splices are located rnid-
way between hardpoints so that four panels are 40-1 /Z' wide and four panels

Twenty-seven frarnes, including the frarne at the aft seParation joint' are
used in the MM. The larges u separation belween frarnes is I8 in' , and the
srnallest separation is 15,2 in. The frarne at the separation point is 8-l/Z in'
deep. The frarne Z bays frorn the aft end and the frame 7 bays from the aft
