The highland face of the Giant Mountains with round peaks does not lack sharp rock formations and deep steep slopes of alpine type either.Among the treasures of the region, there is the unique Nordic tundra on the mountain ridges with rare flora and fauna. In 1963, a national parkwas established on the territory of the Giant Mountains, which became a part of the organization of world parks in 1982. Being a uniquecentral-European natural complex, the Giant Mountains were awarded the status of UNESCO reserve in 1992.
