GIBSON;- Killed in action, in France, August 8, 1918, Frederick C Gibson (Crowdy), MM., late stretcher bearer, 13th Battalion. Inserted by his fond cousins. Nell and Babe Pantlin, Banksia.
Gosford Times 5th September 1918 Killed in Action
Private Frederick Crowdy Gibson, aged 23 years 8 months was killed in action in France on the 8 th August last. Deceased was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs A Gibson, of Macquarie Farm, Glenfield, late of "Glenroy" Ourimbah. He enlisted at Gosford in 1914, and was attached to 13th Battalion, D Company, 4th Division. While on active service he was recommended by Major-General Holmes for his plucky work as a stretcher-bearer during as attack on the 4th and 5th February, 1917, and was awarded a Military Medal. On the 14th November of the same year he was again congratulated by Major-General MacL*gan for pluck and devo-tion to duty, tending wounded under fire near Zonneluke on September 26, 1917. the deceased soldier was a native of Cooma, Monaro, where his family resided for some years. He was a prominent foot-baller, his Battalion (the 13th) having won six trophies since the advent of the war.
