in a team of four students,
we were asked to design two
concepts of wristwatches for
the great maison horlogière
baume & mercier.
our brief was about the
theme of luxury: we thought
about luxury experience as a
lifestyle. it’s all about choosing
the best without showing it
off, nurturing not only the
appearence but also the
substance.
in a world where more and
more is mass-produced, only
craftmanship lends objects a
unique disposition.
arts, simplicity, elegance
and tact are our keywords:
our watches offer a formal
minimalism accompanied
by an excessive attention to
details, materials and crafts.

“apparently invisible,
substantially yourself.
the delicate luxury shields
your essence.”
essentia 10543
the first watch is in step
with the maison’s historical
tradition, since it is inspired
by a model of its collection.
the main time markers were
cut out and with the bottom
in sapphire glass, they show
gears’ beauty and precision.
essentia 10542
for the second one, we
presented something more
refined: cut outs in the
needles make every single
minute precious and unique
showing little by little a new
shade of its essence.
from there essentia originates.

16 we were asked to offer a
realistic proposal for a racing
boat following r3 classed
centerboards restrictions from
“mille e una vela cup”, a racing
competition among italian
universities.
the biggest restriction was
to conceive it in natural
materials for at least the 70%
of the boat.
we carefully studied our
competitors and finally took
inspiration from 3 existing
boats: “earth sup”, for its
hull shape and materials;
“mirabaud”, for its wings;
“tiwal”, for its simple structure.
the result was a 15ft skiff
(kind of a centerboard) for 2
people in paulownia wood,
cork and bio-epoxy resin.
it is lightweight, cheap and
really performant, but is
a professional boat which
requires an expert team to be
steered.

the alma mater foundation
asked us to design a product
inspired by palazzo poggi
museum, in bologna, suitable
for its shop.
the museum hosts the
collections from the old
“istituto delle scienze” and
among the exposed scientists
we focused our interest
on luigi galvani (1737 -
1798), the italian physician
who discovered animal
electricity.
we found really interesting
an experiment by which
lichtenberg figures were
burn into wood through a
transformer and tabula is
the result of the incredible
behaviour of electricity on
wood.
it consists in a set of modular
trays, two made of wood
and decorated through
electrocution and a third one
that contains the others, in
ceramic, following romagna’s
tradition.

24 we had to research, study
and develop a new lunchbox
concept for an exam, following
project management main
rules.
we first built up our team and
decided the roles for each of us:
i was the project manager.
planning is indispensable for
an effective design process: wbs
and gantt scheduling are useful
tools for checking activities
progresses.
of course we had to take into
consideration the project
stakeholders, our target and
benchmark, building useful
matrix and tables.
the most difficult part was to
study the quality function
deployment (qfd house) which
recaps all the assumptions,
risks, requirements and smart
objectives we defined for
our product.
but thanks to this working well
method we finally have our
concept: the “tastybox”.

tastybox is a good compromise to
make lunch moment special even
if you are not at home.
it is a lunchbox that allows
you to easily bring a complete
meal in a slim space. it is
transportable, modular, ergonomic,
microwavable and efficiently seals
food inside, so you can put it in
your backpack without taking care
of leaks. you can separately buy
each part of the kit and choose
your favorite color or texture for
every single piece.

family sidewhere time flies
family side
in a situation where space is
precious, family side allows
families to crop a little area for
themselves.
family side is an entertainment
service within airport areas to
handle travelling stress of some
specific passenger categories.
communication
small airplanes draw a long
yellow line that accompanies
families from strategically
located advertising to the family
side zone.
just like a leaving plane, the
signages climb the walls next to
the interactive screens.
foldable flyers are also available
in each airport info point and
hotspot.
interactive screens and mobile app
children of all ages can play
with the interactive screen
and take photos with their
parents, who can find and share
them through the bologna
airport mobile app.

family case bag
with family case bag it is
possible to dress up airport
seats to satisfy kids’ needs and
entertainment.
available at every family side
point, family case bags are tiny
yellow pursues: some blank
sheets and feltpens are bound
to the external side, while on
the inside there is a folded
envelope to coat the seat and
backrest of airport chairs to
crate a babykeeper.
foldable tables
another innovation are
foldable tables, which
operate by means of a spheric
joint and can be attached to
the armrests. offering two
possible configurations, they
may be employed by both
adults as a support and by
children as a dining table or a
playtime desk.

we were asked to bring
university of bologna
in a new identity position
through the study of its official
merchandising.
unibo’s brand simbolizes
strenght and tradition and
its merchandising should
emphasize those concepts,
bringing awareness to
bologna’s citizens and students.
that is the reason why we
designed our infopoint system:
“knowledge frames” with
informational purposes and
which can also offer users
additive solutions, for example
a little studio office with tiny
tables and sockets.
“uniboint” is designed to
be placed either indoor or
outdoor, since it is composed
in naval plywood, steel and
plexiglass. it is modular and
thanks to the wheels system
beneath it can be easily
transported and closed for
any safety reason.
finally, through a sticker system
that colors the walls, uniboint
can be easily updated when
any new information comes.

40 the task was to define our
product design course brand
identity, following university of
bologna tradition and history.
the acronym “debo” merges the
words “design” and “bologna”
and it can be adapted to any
class of the school through the
aid of the payoff.
so we build up debo brand
identity guide, describing every
single section of our research:
we defined our concept and
aims and studied our target,
competitors and benchmark
placement.
through keywords and
moodboards we started our
reflection about logotype and
payoff colors and tipography
and then structure the correct
and incorrect logo applications.
we also thought about the
communication strategies
and the real application on
advertising or merchandising
products.

graphic behaviour
since there are many
conferences and events,
organized by university of
bologna professors, “debo”
would be often associated with
different subjects and spaces.
here are two examples where
“de” is textured to refer to
the event subject the school is
partecipating at.

44 i was asked to create the 3d
model of a mini pimmer
produced by Ariete. the aim of
the course was to learn how to
replace a photographed object
with a virtual one.
first of all, we had to study
the object in every single part,
disassembilng each piece and
taking the exact measures of it.
then we transported the
measures in autocad and also
i drew some sketches in order to
simplify the modeling part
but also to explain our
interlocutors how did the
product work.
to realize the model, we used
autodesk alias design, one of the
best programs to work with for
surfaces and curves.
rendering the model has been
really difficult, due to the
reflactive materials th product
was made of and the really
coloured scene where i decided
to photograph my object.
