WHO  WE  ARE    

AIESEC  is  the  world’s  largest  student-­‐run  organisation,  with  over  60  years  of  experience  and  present  in  more  than  100  countries.  Worldwide  we  have  a  membership  base  of  over  60,000  students  and  graduates.  Focused  on  providing  a  platform  for  youth  leadership  development,  AIESEC  offers  young  people  the  opportunity  to  participate  in  international  internships,  experience  leadership  and  participate  in  a  global  learning  environment.  What  makes  AIESEC  unique  is  the  youth  driven,  impactful  experience  that  it  offers  to  its  members.  AIESEC  is  run  by  young  people  for  young  people,  enabling  a  strong  experience  to  all  its  stakeholders.    

AIESEC  engages  with  thousands  of  companies  and  organisations  to  support  their  highly  competitive  international  talent  acquisition  and  consistent  global  employer  branding.    

AIESEC  in  the  UK  is  present  across  20  universities.  Together,  they  all  work  towards  providing  international  exchange  experiences  for  students  across  the  United  Kingdom.  The  AIESEC  UK  network  is  a  source  of  support  for  members  and  exchange  participants.

WHAT  WE  OFFER  AIESEC  Cardiff  is  especially  offering  you  to  participate  in  our  Global  Community  Development  Programme  (GCDP),  which  is  basically  volunteering  programmes  in  a  various  range  of  countries.  These  programmes  are  designed  by  AIESEC  committees  in  respective  countries,  hence  you  will  be  creating  the  impact  and  making  a  change  right  where  it  is  needed.  Candidate  criteria  for  this  programme  is  very  flexible  and  anyone  with  any  academic  background  are  eligible  to  apply.  Projects  are  run  for  a  minimum  of  6  weeks,  up  to  4  months.  Although  this  is  an  unpaid  internship,  accommodation  will  be  provided.

WHERE  CAN  YOU  GO?      

Our  vast  network  provides  you  with  the  opportunity  to  go  work  or  volunteer  in  more  than  100  countries  around  the  world.  This  year  however,  AIESEC  UK  has  established  partnerships  with  countries  we  have  identified  to  have  successfully  deliver  high  quality  exchanges  and  services  to  support  participants.

PROJECTS  IN  CHINA  

 

Rural  Education—Hope  of  the  Future  

Children  in  rural  areas  of  China  often  do  not  get  the  sufficient  access  to  education  they  need.  Challenge  yourself  and  step  into  

the  rural  China  and  directly  experience  the  culture.  Get  the  chance  to  give  back  and  share  your  knowledge  to  these  children.  

Things  you’ll  do…  

• Programmes:  Summer  Camp  (6  weeks)  or  Long  Term  Education  Assistance  (8-­‐12  Weeks)  

• Receive  training  materials  from  NGO  • Deliver  cultural  education  activities  

• Organise  school  activities  with  local  students  • Participate  in  Rural  Development  Research

Community  Health—Red  Wings  Program  

China  is  developing  in  a  very  rapid  speed.  People  are  getting  busier  each  day,  yet  having  a  less  healthy  lifestyle.  Young  people  are  more  prone  to  high  blood  pressure  and  heart  diseases.  AIESEC  in  China  recognises  this  issue  and  aims  to  bring  change  to  the  community,  and  they  would  need  

your  help  to  run  the  programme.  

 

Things  you’ll  do…  

• Attend  training  about  HIV  prevention,  health  self-­‐management,  flu  prevention,  low  carbon  life  and  presentation  skills;  

• Deliver  courses  to  about  150  community  residents  on  both  culture  and  health  aspect.  

• Peer  Education  in  Colleges  and  HIV/AIDS  Day  Event  Management  • Organize  all  the  activities  and  courses  at  each  community  school;  

• Attend  every  activity  and  give  courses  on  time  • Organize  project  event

Cultural  Awareness—Explore  China  Programme  

 

Working  together  with  museums  and  galleries  across  the  nation,  AIESEC  local  committees  in  China  developed  a  programme  aimed  at  raising  

youths’  the  awareness  of  Chinese  culture  and  heritage.  This  project  is  a  very  interesting  platform  to  experience  Chinese  culture  in  depth,  exploring  

its  rich  ancient  history  and  art,  while  encouraging  local  youths  to  appreciate  their  culture.  

 

Things  you’ll  do…  

• Receive  training  from  local  NGO  • Work  with  a  local  museum  or  gallery  as  an  activity  manager  or  

culture  guide.  • Plan  and  create  an  exhibition  about  Chinese  culture.  • Design  arts  and  cultural  education  courses  for  children.  

• Create  survey  of  the  project  and  report  on  the  success  of  the  project  to  the  local  committee

PROJECTS  IN  BRAZIL

Global  Citizen  Third  Sector  

An  NGO  management  initiative  is  AIESEC  in  Brazil.  Be  part  of  the  team  in  local  NGOs,  and  helping  them  build  their  capacity.  This  would  be  a  

magnificent  opportunity  for  you  to  develop  your  personal  and  professional  skills  and  generate  direct  social  impact  

 

Things  you’ll  do…  

• Receive  training  from  NGOs  • Participate  in  fundraising  events:  bazaars,  developing  projects  and  

campaigns  • Communication:  institutional  branding,  recruiting  volunteers,  social  

media  management  • Project  and  programme  management  

• General  management:  planning,  budgeting/financing

Global  Citizen  Educational  Project  

 

Be  part  of  a  project  to  deliver  cultural  and  educational  workshops  to  elementary,  middle  school  and  high  school  students.  You  will  be  involved  in  the  campaign  to  promote  cultural  diversity  and  tackle  issues  such  as  

human  rights,  prejudice  and  social  responsibility  

 

Things  you’ll  do…  

 

• Deliver  workshops  on  subjects  of  social  responsibility,  creating  positive  impact  on  society,  developing  an  international  perspective.  

• Run  language  workshops,  motivational  activities  • Assist  institution  in  developing  innovative  education  methodologies

PROJECTS  IN  INDIA

Children’s  Rights  -­‐-­‐  Project  Footprints  

 

Many  children  in  rural  India  are  forced  to  leave  school  in  order  for  them  to  be  able  to  help  their  parents  earn  a  living.  These  children  are  trapped  in  the  vicious  cycle  of  poverty.  However,  you  can  be  a  part  of  a  project  that  will  give  them  hope  to  excel  in  the  future.  You  will  be  part  of  a  team  to  

help  these  children  excel  in  life  and  maximise  their  potential.  

 

Things  you’ll  do…  

• Teach  English  to  underprivileged  children  • Lead  workshops  in  various  aspects  such  as  hygiene,  cultural  sensitivity,  arts,  dance  and  small  activities  to  earn  livelihood  

• Develop  the  children’s  leadership  potential

HIV  Awareness  –  Project  Genesis  

 

HIV/AIDS  remains  one  of  the  most  significant  health  challenges  in  the  world.  It  claimed  the  lives  of  more  than  27  million  people  and  more  than  2  

million  people  are  infected  today.  This  is  your  chance  to  be  part  of  a  project  that  works  to  equip  the  present  generation  with  the  knowledge  

and  motivation  to  prevent  the  spread  of  this  deadly  disease.  

 

Things  you’ll  do…  

• Delivering  workshops  in  schools  and  colleges  highlighting  facts  on  prevention  of  HIV/AIDS  

• Planning  events  to  raise  awareness  to  the  masses  • Gathering  information  with  respect  to  the  current  situation  • Working  with  local  NGOs  and  visiting  various  affected  regions

WHAT  ARE  THE  COSTS?  

 Once  you  have  been  accepted  into  the  Work  Abroad  Programme,  you  will  be  asked  to  pay  the  Exchange  Participant  fee  of  £350*.  Below  is  the  breakdown  of  the  fee.  Please  note  that  AIESEC  is  a  non-­‐profit  organization  and  you  will  be  responsible  for  obtaining  your  own  visas  and  flights.
