• Turun yliopiston ylioppilaskunta hakee tällä hetkellä opiskelijaedustajia 1.4.2012 alkavaksi kaudeksi Turun yliopiston yliopisto-kollegioon, tiedekuntien johtokuntiin ja laitosten laitosneuvostoihin.

• The Student Union of the University of Turku seeks student members for a two-year term beginning 1 April 2010 for the University of Turku Collegiate Body, faculty boards and department councils.

Hakukelpoisuus• Opiskelijajäseniksi hakukelpoisia ovat henkilöt, joilla on oikeus

suorittaa alempi ja/tai ylempi korkeakoulututkinto, lisensiaatin tai tohtorin tutkinto, erikoislääkärin tai erikoishammaslääkärin opinnot Turun yliopistossa.

• Hakukelpoisuuden edellytyksenä on lisäksi se, että opiskelija on ilmoittautunut läsnäolevaksi.

• Henkilö on hakukelpoinen vain siinä tiedekunnassa tai laitoksessa, jonka tutkinnonsuoritusoikeuden hän on ilmoittanut lukuvuosi-ilmoittautumisen yhteydessä ensisijaiseksi.

• Hakukelpoisia eivät ole henkilöt, jotka ovat päätoimisessa, vähintään kuusi kuukautta kestävässä työsuhteessa yliopistoon. Päätoimisuuden rajana pidetään 20 tuntia viikossa.

Students eligible for application• Students eligible for application are those who have the right

to complete a Bachelor’s, Master’s, Licentiate or Doctoral degree, specialist medical studies or specialist dentistry studies at the University of Turku.

• Furthermore, students are required to have been registered as attending at the University of Turku in order to be eligible.

• An applicant is eligible only in the faculty and department to which he/she belongs.

• Those who have had a full-time working relationship with the University of Turku for at least six months are not eligible to apply. For this position, 20 hours of work is considered full-time.

• päättää hallituksen jäsenmäärästä sekä hallituksen ja sen jäsenten toimikauden pituudesta samoin kuin hallituksen puheenjohtajan ja jäsenten palkkiosta;

• valita muut kuin yliopiston henkilöstöä ja opiskelijoita edustavat jäsenet yliopiston hallitukseen;

• vahvistaa yliopistolain 15 §:n 2 momentissa tarkoitettujen yliopistoyhteisön ryhmien valinnat hallituksen jäseniksi;

• vapauttaa hallituksen jäsen tehtävästään hallituksen esityksen perusteella;

päättää vastuuvapauden myöntämisestä hallituksen jäsenille ja rehtorille;

• päättää vahingonkorvauskanteen nostamisesta hallituksen jäsentä, rehtoria ja tilintarkastajaa vastaan; ja

• päättää hallituksen jäsenen vapauttamisesta tehtävästään yliopistolain 65 §:n 3 momentin mukaisesti.

• Yliopistokollegio on yliopiston ylin valitseva elin.

members;• deciding on the compensation paid to the chair and

members of the Board;• selecting Board members outside the sphere of university

staff and students;• confirming the selection of university community groups,

under the Universities Act § 15 subsection 2, as members of the Board;

• releasing a Board member from his/her duties under proposal of the Board;

the university;• decisions on granting members and the Rector release

from responsibility;• decisions on increasing action for damages against a

Board member, the Rector and auditor; and• decisions on releasing a Board member from his/her

duties under the Universities Act § 65 subsection 3.• Collegial Body is the highest selecting body of the

University of Turku.

Johtokuntien tehtävät• kehittää tiedekunnan opetusta ja tutkimusta;• tehdä ehdotukset toiminta- ja taloussuunnitelmaksi ja

vuotuiseksi talousarvioksi;• päättää tiedekunnalle myönnettyjen voimavarojen jakamisen

suuntaviivoista;• hyväksyä opetussuunnitelmat;• hyväksyä väitöskirjat ja lisensiaatintutkimukset sekä myöntää

opiskelijoiden edunvalvonnan paikka ja tiedekuntien korkein päättävä elin.

The job of the faculty boards• developing faculty teaching and research;• giving proposals for the operational and financial plan and the

annual budget;• deciding on the distribution of funds granted to the faculty;• approving the curriculum;• approving dissertations and Licentiate research and granting

dissertation defense approvals; and• making proposals on the annual number of new students to be

admitted to the faculty and deciding on admission criteria.• Faculty boards are a key place for the development of

special interests of students and the highest decision-making body of the faculty.

Laitosneuvostojen tehtävät

• antaa lausunto esityksistä toiminta- ja taloussuunnitelmaksi ja vuotuiseksi talousarvioksi;

• antaa lausunto esityksestä voimavarojen käytöstä;• antaa lausunto esityksestä opetussuunnitelmaksi; ja• antaa lausunto laitosjohtajan valinnasta; sekä• käsitellä mahdolliset muut sen käsiteltäväksi annetut

asiat.• Laitosneuvostot ovat keskeinen opiskelijoiden

edunvalvonnan paikka.

The job of the department councils

• giving comments on the proposal for the operational and financial plan;

• giving comments on the annual budget;• giving comments on the use of resources in the budget

and the curriculum;• giving comments on the decision of selecting a director;• as well as, handling other possible business brought to

the council’s attention.• Department councils are a key place for the

development of special interests of students.

Miksi hakea?

• Vain osallistumalla opiskelijat voivat muuttaa yliopistoa parempaan suuntaan opiskelun ja työskentelyn kannalta.

• Yliopistoyhteisön jäseninä meillä on myös velvollisuus osallistua päätöksentekoon.

• Toimielimissä työskentelemällä saa arvokasta kokemusta, jota yliopistosta ei mahdollisesti muuten saisi.

• Only by participating can we hope to make our university a better place to study and to work.

• Students have a responsibility to participate as members of the university community.

• By working in the university’s bodies, you get valuable experience you, perhaps, wouldn’t normally get while in the university.

• Turun yliopiston ylioppilaskunnan edustajisto valitsee yliopistokollegion opiskelijaedustajat keskiviikkona 29.2. pidettävässä kokouksessa.

• Turun yliopiston ylioppilaskunnan hallitus valitsee tiedekuntien johtokuntien ja laitosneuvostojen opiskelijaedustajat viikolla 11 pidettävässä kokouksessa.

Valinnat 2/2

• Jos hakijoita on enemmän kuin johtokunnan tai laitosneuvoston paikkoja, edustajiston valintatoimikunta tekee valittavista perustellun esityksen TYYn hallitukselle. Lisäksi hakijoista pyydetään lausunto kyseisten tiedekuntien, kauppakorkeakoulun tai laitosten opiskelijoita edustavilta aine- tai tiedekuntajärjestöiltä.

Selections 1/2

• The Student Union Council will make selections for the University Collegiate Body at its meeting on 29 March 2012.

• The Executive Board of the Student Union will make selections for faculty boards and department councils at its meeting on week 11.

Selections 2/2

• A selection committee appointed by the Student Union Council will present a well-founded proposal of applicants if there are more applicants than faculty board or department council seats. In addition, students from the subject or faculty associations that represent the faculty or department in question will be asked to give a statement on the applicants.
