verb to be ได้แก่คำาวา่ is, am, are, was, were แปลวา่"เป็น, อยู,่ คือ"be เป็นรูปเดิมเมื่อกระจายรูปจะได้เป็น   is, am, are เปล่ียนเป็นชอ่งท่ีสองคือ was were และเปล่ียนเป็นชอ่งท่ีสามคือ beenใชกั้บ Present

หน้าท่ีของ verb to be

1.ทำาหน้าท่ีชว่ยกรยิาตัวอ่ืนในประโยค continuous tense และประโยค Passive voice     They are watching tv.     She was writing to her parents.     A dog was killed by bad man.

2.ใชกั้บประโยคท่ีมคีำานาม (noun) หรอืคำาคณุศัพท์ (adjective) ตามหลัง   We are students.3.ใชกั้บประโยคขอรอ้งและคำาสัง่(ในรูปของ be) เชน่    Be careful!    Be gentle!

Verb to do ได้แก่คำาวา่ do, does, did

ใชกั้บ Present tense (ปัจจุบนักาล)

does ใชกั้บประธานเอกพจน์

do   ใชกั้บประธานพหพูจน์

ใชกั้บ Past tense (อดีตกาล)

did ใชไ้ด้ทัง้ประธานเอกพจน์และประธานพหพูจน์

จากประโยคบอกเล่าเป็นประโยคคำาถามและประโยคปฎิเสธPresent SimpleShe goes to school by bus.She doesn't go to school by bus.Does she go to school by bus?

Past SimpleDum went to the post office yesterday.Dum didn't go to the post office yesterday.Did Dum go  to the post office yesterday?Note: เมื่อเอา Verb to do เขา้มาชว่ยกรยิาจะต้องเป็น V1 เสมอ

Verb to have ได้แก่คำาวา่ has, have, hadhas ใชกั้บประธานเอกพจน์have ใชกั้บประธานพหพูจน์had ใชไ้ด้ท้ังประธานเอกพจน์และพหพูจน์ในรูปของ past

1. เราจะใชกั้บ Present Perfect Tense และ Past Perfect tense เชน่Frank has seen the rainbow.Frank hasn't seen the rainbow.Has Frank  seen the rainbow?

2. Verb to have ท่ีเป็นกรยิาแท้แปลวา่ "มี " "รบัประธาน"เชน่ -I have a new dress. -I have lunch early every day.เมื่อต้องการทำาเป็นประโยคปฎิเสธและคำาถามให้เอา Verb to do มาชว่ยเชน่ -We don't have a new home. -Do we have a new home?

can  could  แปลวา่ "สามารถ"1.ใชก้ล่าวถึงความสามารถวา่สามารถทำาสิง่น้ีสิง่นัน้ได้เชน่-I can play the piano.-I can speak French.ในรูปประโยคปฎิเสธและคำาถามสามารถใช ้can ได้เลยเชน่-She can't drive.-Can you drive?

2.เราจะไมใ่ช ัcan กับ infinitive หรอื participles แต่เมื่อจำาเป็นเราจะใชค้ำาอ่ืนแทนเชน่

-Are you be able to go home late? -She will be able to drive soon.

3.could เป็น past ของ can เราใช ้could สำาหรบัความสามารถท่ัวไป หรอืการอนุญาตเชน่

-She could speak three languages when she was five. -He finished his home work. He could go out to play.

3. เราใช ้can และ could

3.1 กับความสามารถ (ability) -I can use a computer.

3.2 การขอหรอืการให้อนุญาต -Can I use your bicycle? -You can leave early today.

แต่ถ้าเป็นแบบสภุาพหรอืเป็นทางการเราจะใช ้could เชน่ -Could you hand me that book, please?3.3 การขอรอ้ง (requests) -Can you .... ? -Could you...? สภุาพกวา่ -Do you think you could...? -Can you take this bag? -Could you loan a hundred baht? -Do you think you could help me move this box?

3.4 เสนอตัวเพื่อชว่ยเหลือ (offers) เชน่ -Can I turn the air on for you ?3.5 พูดถึงความเป็นไปได้และคาดคะเนในสิง่ท่ีอาจจะเกิดขึน้ (possibility and probability)ใช ้can กับสถานการณ์หรอืเหตกุารณ์ท่ีเป็นไปได้ เชน่ -This road can be dangerous at night.

1. ใชกั้บการพูดถึงการมโีอกาสของบางสิง่บางทีอาจเป็นจรงิหรอือาจจะเกิดขึน้ เชน่

-We may take a day off  next week. -He might call me tonight

2. might ไมไ่ด้เป็น past ของ may เราจะใช ้might เมื่อเรามโีอกาสท่ีน้อยกวา่ may เชน่ -I may go to visit my parents in this weekend. (บางทีโอกาสจะเป็น 50%) -Jane might go with me. (บางทีโอกาสจะเป็น 30% )3. การใช ้may/might กับ have ใชแ้สดงการคาดคะเนท่ีอาจจะเกิดขึน้ในอดีต    may/might + have +V3 -She may have gone out when I phoned her.

4. ใช ้may might ในการขออนุญาตเชน่ -May I sit here? -I wonder if I might have another cup of coffee?5.  ใช ้may   ในการอนุญาตและไมอ่นุญาตเชน่ -Children may not play alone in the pool. -A: May I turn the TV on? -B: Yes, of course you may.

will 1.ใชเ้มื่อเราพูดถึงอนาคตI will go to school early tomorrow.2.ใช ้will   แสดงการขอรอ้งอยา่งสภุาพเชน่Will you open the door for me please?

would เป็นอดีตของคำาวา่ will

1. ใชใ้นประโยคขอรอ้งท่ีสภุาพกวา่ will -Would you turn the volume down please?

2. ใชกั้บประโยค Would you mind if.... -Would you mind if I smoke?

3. ใช ้would กับคำา rather แปลวา่ ควรจะ....ดีกวา่ ตัวยอ่ 'd rather ใชใ้นการเลือกอยา่งใดอยา่งหนึ่ง

-I'd rather study harder this year than go to summer school.

4. ใช ้would กับ like to ในีรูปคำาถามเป็นการเชื้อเชญิเชน่

-Would you like to go dancing with me?

shall 1.ใชใ้นประโยคอนาคตกาล (Future tense) ตามปกติแล้ว shall ใชกั้บ ประธาน I และ We

2. ใชใ้นการเสนอหรอืให้คำาแนะนำา และใชเ้มื่อขอคำาแนะนำาเราจะใช ้Shall I...?Shall we ...?Shall I carry your books?Shall we go shopping?

Should 1.ใชเ้มื่อพูดเก่ียวกับภาระหน้าท่ีและความคิดเห็นท่ีใกล้เคียงกันเชน่People should be careful about food.She shouldn't act like that in public.2. ใช ้Should I....? สำาหรบัการขอคำาแนะนำา การยื่นมอืชว่ยเหลือ เชน่Should I go out with him ?Should I help you clean up this area?

3. ใชเ้มื่อกล่าวถึงสิง่ท่ีควรจะทำาแปลวา่"ควรจะ "เชน่ -You work all day. You should take a rest.4. ใช ้should have +V3 ใชพู้ดเก่ียวกับอดีตโครงสรา้งน้ีใชกั้บสิง่ท่ีไมไ่ด้ เกิดขึน้หรอือาจจะเกิดหรอืไมไ่ด้เกิดขึน้เชน่ -They should have arrived here by now. -I should have written a note for him 5. ใชกั้บประโยค if clause เชน่ -If I had a lot of money, I would be happy.

mustแปลวา่ "ต้อง"ตามด้วยกรยิาชอ่งท่ี 1มหีลักการใชด้ังน้ี1. ใชแ้สดงความจำาเป็นท่ีต้องกระทำา -You must hand your homework in tomorrow.2. ใชใ้นการใหค้ำาแนะนำาหรอืการสัง่กับตัวเราเองหรอืกับบุคคลอ่ืนเชน่ -He really must stop drinking. -You must sit there for two hours. -You mustn't talk in the classroom.3. เราใช ้have to แทน must ได้

must   เป็นการสัง่ความจำาเป็นมาจากบุคคลท่ีกำาลังพูดหรอืกำาลังฟงัhave to พูดถึงความจำาเป็นท่ีมาจากภายนอกบางทีอาจจะเพราะวา่กฎหมาย กฏระเบยีบหรอืเป็นขอ้ตกลงเชน่ -I must go home now. It's going to rain soon. -You must stop smoking. -I have to stop smoking because I'm sick.

mustn't ใชบ้อกบุคคลไมใ่ห้ทำาสิง่นัน้สิง่น้ีhaven’t got to, don't have to ใชพู้ดในบางสิง่ท่ีไมส่ำาคัญเชน่ -You mustn't tell Dang. มคีวามหมายวา่ (Don't tell Dang.) -You don't have to tell your wife. หมายความวา่ (You can if you like, but it is not necessary.)4. ใช ้must เมื่อพูดถึงสิง่ท่ีเราแน่ใจเชน่ -The boy keeps crying. He must be really sick.

need   เป็นได้ท้ังกรยิาชว่ยและกรยิาแท้1. เมื่อใชเ้ป็นกรยิาแท้ need + to +V1 -He needs to clean his car. -You need to water the flowers.ถ้าต้องการทำาเป็นประโยคปฎิเสธและประโยคคำาถาม ให้เอา Verb to do มาชว่ย -You don't need to help him. -Do we need to reserve the room?

2. เมื่อใชเ้ป็นกรยิาชว่ยเราไมค่่อยใชเ้ท่าไหรซ่ึง่สว่นใหญ่จะเห็นการใช ้needn't เชน่ -You needn't explain. I understand.3. การใช ้needn't + have +V3 แสดงถึงการกระทำาท่ีไมจ่ำาเป็นต้องทำาในอดีตแต่ ทำาไปแล้วเป็นการเสยีเวลาเปล่า -Your mother needn't have cooked for us. We ate out.

dare แปลวา่ "กล้า "เป็นได้ท้ังกรยิาชว่ยและกรยิาแท้1. เป็นกรยิาแท้ dare + to +V1และเมื่อต้องการทำาเป็นประโยคปฎิเสธและประโยคคำาถามให้เอา Verb to do มาชว่ยเชน่ -She dare to say what is right. -I doesn't dare to tell him the truth.2. เป็นกรยิาชว่ยเราไมน่ิยมใชเ้ป็นประโยคบอกเล่าแต่เราจะใช ้daren't กับคนบางคนไมก่ล้าทำาบางสิง่บางอยา่งในขณะท่ีพูด -I daren't look. -I daren't touch it.

ought แปลวา่ "ควรจะ " มหีลักการใชดั้งนี้1. ใช ้ought ตามด้วย to เสมอใชใ้นการแนะนำาสิง่ท่ีควรทำาให้กับคนอ่ืนรวมทั้งตัวเราเองด้วยมคีวามหมายใกล้เคียงกับคำาวา่ Should เชน่ -I really ought to teach her English. -People ought not to cross the road over there.2. ใช ้ought to+ have +V3 พูดถึงสิง่ท่ีควรทำาในอดีตแต่ไมไ่ด้ทำา -You ought to have phoned him yesterday.

used to แปลวา่ "เคย"ปัจจุบนัเราไมน่ิยมใช ้used to ในรูปแบบของกรยิาชว่ยแล้วเราใชเ้ฉพาะเป็นกรยิาแท้พูดถึงสิง่ท่ีทำาเป็นนิสยัในอดีตซึง่ปัจจุบนัได้หยุดไปแล้วเชน่ -I used to eat a lot. -She used to be shy.

เมื่อเป็นประโยคคำาถามและประโยคปฎิเสธเราจะเอา Verb to do เขา้มาชว่ย เมื่อเอา Verb to do จะต้องเปล่ียน use ให้เป็นกรยิาชอ่งท่ี 1 -Did you use to have a dog? -I didn't use to watch the news. (เป็นประโยคปฎิเสธเรานิยมใช ้never used to ) -I never used to watch the news.

(be) used to +noun / ing แปลวา่ "เคยชนิ" -I am used to driving at night. -She is used to the cold weather.
