PENDAHULUAN

Actinopterygii, atau disebut juga sebagai ray-finned fishes, merupakan kelompok ikan

terbesar dan mencakup separuh dari vertebrata yang hidup di bumi. Kini terdapat sekitar 42

ordo, 431 famili, sekitar 24.000 spesies yang termasuk dalam kelas tersebut. Sembilan puluh

enam persen dari jumlah tersebut, jenisnya masih dapat dijumpai di alam. Perkiraan terakhir,

perhitungan tersebut dapat menjadi tidak akurat karena beberapa spesies terancam kepunahan

lebih cepat daripada penemuannya di beberapa area, contohnya di Amazon dan Congo Basin.

Sangat disayangkan, kerusakan habitat, polusi dan perdagangan internasional, serta beberapa

pengaruh kehidupan manusia telah berkontribusi terhadap kepunahan beberapa anggota kelas

Actinopterygii (GRANDE, 1998; HELFMAN et. al., 1997; MOYLE & CECH, 2004).

Hingga saat ini sejumlah usaha telah dilakukan oleh banyak ilmuwan dan peneliti di

seluruh dunia untuk menghambat laju kepunahan spesies tersebut. Salah satu usaha untuk

menghambat kepunahan spesies-spesies dari kelas Actinoptrygii adalah dengan penyimpanan

beberapa spesimen dalam bentuk spesimen holotype dan paratype. Penyimpanan ini

dimaksudkan untuk mempertahankan keaslian spesimen dan keaslian sumber informasi

ilmiah yang berhubungan dengan salah satu spesies ketika spesies tersebut nantinya sudah

tidak dapat ditemukan di alam.

Terdapat sekitar 40 spesimen holotype dan 30 spesimen paratype yang tersimpan di

laboratorium Referen Koleksi (Koleksi Rujukan) Pusat Penelitian Oseanografi LIPI (P2O

LIPI). Koleksi tersebut sebagian besar merupakan hasil koleksi tahun 2006, namun koleksi

lama, dari tahun 1975, masih dapat ditemukan dalam kondisi baik. Spesimen tersebut berasal

dari perairan Indonesia dan semua spesimen dalam tulisan ini terdapat di laboratorium

Referen Koleksi Pusat Penelitian Oseanografi LIPI. Terbatasnya tempat koleksi dan ruang

koleksi merupakan salah satu hambatan dalam mengoleksi kelompok ikan tersebut

METODE

Spesimen yang dimasukkan dalam katalog ini merupakan kumpulan spesimen

holotype dan paratype yang terdapat di laboratorium Referen Koleksi Pusat Penelitian

Oseanografi LIPI, Ancol, Jakarta. Pada umumnya, spesimen tersimpan di dalam botol-botol

kaca berbagai macam ukuran, mengingat ukuran spesimen yang tersimpan beragam, dan

diawetkan dalam larutan alkohol. Untuk spesimen holotype, spesimen tersimpan dalam botol

yang berpita merah sedangkan untuk spesimen paratype, spesimen tersimpan dalam botol

yang berpita hijau. Kondisi awal spesimen sebelum dilakukan pengamatan cukup baik. Hal

yang banyak dilakukan selama pengamatan adalah penambahan larutan alkohol dan

pencucian maupun penggantian botol. Identifikasi beberapa jenis yang belum teridentifikasi

dilakukan dengan mengacu pada buku identifikasi antara lain ALLEN (1999), ALLEN et. al.

(2003), LEISHE & MYERS (1994), dan beberapa artikel panduan identifikasi ikan yang

dikeluarkan oleh FAO. Penulisan katalog spesimen ikan menggunakan kode-kode atau

singkatan tertentu seperti: NCIP (National Catalogue for Indonesian Pisces), SL (Standart

Length), Coll. by (Collected by), Det. By (Determined by).

HASIL

Saat ini koleksi holotype dan paratype yang dimiliki oleh laboratorium Referen

Koleksi P2O LIPI berjumlah 117 spesimen, yang terdiri dari 47 spesimen holotype dan 70

spesimen paratype. Empat puluh tujuh spesimen holotype tersebut terbagi dalam 4 ordo, yaitu

ordo Lophiiformes yang terdiri dari 1 famili, ordo Perciformes yang terdiri dari 8 famili, ordo

Scorpaeniformes yang terdiri dari 1 famili, dan ordo Syngnathiformes yang terdiri dari 1

famili. Dari 47 spesimen holotype tersebut, spesimen yang mendominasi berasal dari ordo

Perciformes khususnya didominasi oleh famili Pomacentridae yang terdiri dari 16 spesimen.

Di sisi lain, 70 spesimen paratype yang dilaporkan dalam tulisan ini terdiri dari 2 ordo, yaitu

ordo Perciformes yang terdiri dari 8 famili dan ordo Scorpaeniformes yang terdiri dari 1

famili. Famili yang mendominasi spesimen paratype adalah famili Pomacentridae, yang

berasal dari ordo Perciformes, yang terdiri dari 8 famili. Untuk pengukuran spesimen

digunakan panjang standart (Standart Length) dengan satuan milimeter (mm).

Berikut ini diuraikan sistematik koleksi spesimen holotype dan paratype yang dimiliki

oleh laboratorium Referen Koleksi Pusat Penelitian Oseanografi LIPI.
