Holy Communion - God’s Greatest Gift of Love In the Blessed Sacrament we posses God’s greatest gift of Love. We measure the love of the giver by the greatness of His gift, by the advantages and benefits derived there from. Jesus is present in the Blessed Sacrament with His Divinity and Humanity. His Soul and Body, His Flesh and Blood. Through His real presence, the tabernacle becomes the treasury of all riches, for it contains Jesus, the fountain of all grace, with the infinite plenitude of Divine treasures. There He holds them in readiness for us; He calls and invites us to come and take them. His presence is the life of the Church, the joy and delight of every living soul.
DO WE VALUE THE GIFT OF GOD? As we witness the little children receiving Holy Communion for the first time, let us ask ourselves “How much do I value this greatest of God’s gift? Has my fervour and ardour for the most Holy Sacrament cooled off to any degree since the day of my First Holy Communion”? The Blessed Sacrament is still the same changeless God, the same graces to be received, the same infinite love with which He has loved us from the beginning. Do we still heed His constant invitation, “Take and eat…?” or have we become somewhat indifferent toward what is offered to us? May the sight of our young ones receiving Holy Communion today, inspire us to a greater desire to enrich ourselves spiritually with a more frequent reception of the greatest of God’s gifts.
Prayer for the First Holy Communicants: Lord Jesus, bless all those who are receiving You in Holy Communion for the first time. May each one of them know Your love and mercy in a personal way. May all Your people open their hearts to You and be transformed by this Sacrament. May we become a sign of Your love for the whole world. Amen

GOSPEL REFLECTION Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your mat, and walk.” Immediately
the man became well, took up his mat, and walked. John 5:8-9 Let’s look at one of the clear symbolic meanings of this passage above. The man Jesus healed was paralyzed, being unable to walk and take care of himself. Others neglected him as he sat there by the pool, hoping for kindness and attention. Jesus sees him and gives him His full attention. After a short dialogue, Jesus cures him and tells him to rise and walk.
One clear symbolic message is that his physical paralysis is an image of the result of sin in our lives. When we sin we “paralyze” ourselves. Sin has grave consequences on our lives and the clearest consequence is that we are left unable to rise and then walk in the ways of God. Grave sin, especially, renders us powerless to love and live in true freedom. It leaves us trapped and unable to care for our own spiritual lives or for others in any way. It’s important to see the consequences of sin. Even minor sins hinder our abilities, strip us of energy, and leave us spiritually crippled to one extent or another. Hopefully you know this and it is not a new revelation to you. But what must be new to you is the honest admission of your current guilt. You must see yourself in this story. Jesus did not heal this man only for the good of this one man. He healed him, in part, to tell you that He sees you in your broken state as you experience the consequences of your sin. He sees you in need, looks at you and calls you to rise and walk. Do not underestimate the importance of allowing Him to perform a healing in your life. Do not neglect to identify even the smallest sin which imposes its consequences upon you. Look at your sin, allow Jesus to see it, and listen to Him speak words of healing and freedom. Reflect, today, upon this powerful encounter this crippled man had with Jesus. Put yourself into the scene and know that this healing is also done for you. If you have not done so already this Lent, go to Confession and discover Jesus’ healing in that Sacrament. Confession is the answer to the freedom that awaits you, especially when it is entered into honestly and thoroughly. Lord, please forgive me for my sins. I desire to see them and to acknowledge the consequences they impose upon me. I know that You desire to free me from these burdens and to heal them at the source. Lord, give me courage to confess my sins to You, especially in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Jesus, I trust in You.
Moleben to the Blessed Virgin Mary - Thursday, May 11th at 7:00 pm. (before the Parish Council Meeting) . The Blessed Virgin is
refuge and advocate of sinners and our protector from dangers and a powerful intercessor with her Son, Jesus. This is a short and beautiful
service and we encourage all parishioners to attend..

Today, three little children, have for the first time, received the Holy Eucharist, the fullness of the mystery of Christ into their hearts. Dear Julian, Jayden & Maryn; Today is a very special and memorable day for you - indeed a day for rejoicing. The long awaited day has finally arrived. You have received Jesus into your hearts for the very first time. What a wonderful and precious gift you have been given - a gift not only for today for you will be able to receive everyday of your life. Treasure this day in your hearts; treasure this greatest of all gifts and thank God everyday for His special love for you. We want to wish you all the joy your hearts can hold. We pray that you will come often to receive Jesus and show Him how much you love Him and always promise to be His special friend. Congratulations, dear children, we are very proud of you! To the Parents: We extend our congratulations to you for fulfilling your Christian obligation by bringing your child to church and to the Sacraments. We encourage you to take your child by the hand and lead them often to Jesus. Come together with your child to receive Jesus in the Eucharist. So much depends on your example. Help them form a close and loving relationship with Jesus and the church and ensure that this friendship be nurtured and allowed to grow. Congratulations and keep up the good work.
We Pray that this day will be the beginning of a growing and loving relationship with Jesus and the Church; for this is the Day the Lord had Made; Rejoice and be Glad in it!
