Holy Week commemorates the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Begins on Palm Sunday and ends on Easter Sunday

The Procession stars with The Cruz Guía

The cross is followed by the nazarenes, dressed with tunics and hoods and carrying. candles or banners.

Each brotherhood carries two floats , huge religious scenes carved out of woodThe floats are carried by the shoulder-borne.

The Procession is followed by marching bands.

DIRGE: SAETA

(Flamenco style song): Brief flamenco ballad usually sung from a balcony. The lyrics are an emotional praise to the respective effigies and statues.

Holy Week TraditionsWearing new clothes on Palm Sunday.

On Maundy Thursday and Good Friday women dress in black (traje de mantilla) to represent the mourning of Christ death.

Foods eaten include Torrijas and Pestiños.
