싼 맛에 산 잘 입지도 않는 유행지난 많은 옷가지, 너덜너덜하게 찢어져서 못쓰게 된
천 조각, 오래 돼서 버려야하는 헌옷, 폐 이불, 폐 스펀지, 폐 포장지......
그냥 버려야만 할까?다시 쓸 수는 없을까? 그럼 일단 자루에 담고 생각해보자.

한 공간이 있다. 아무것도 없는 비어있는 공간이다. 그 공간의 어느 한 점에서 갑자
기 로프가 비죽 튀어 나오더니 점점 더 많이 흘러 나왔다. 마치 살아있는 것처럼 어떤
때는 거칠게 휘몰아치고 어떤 때는 차분하게 유유히 흐른다. 마치 개울처럼.....텅 비
어 있는 공간을 자유롭게 채워 나가며 흐르는 로프들이 유기적인형태로 사람들의 활
동공간에 자연스럽게 스며들었다. 사람들은 흐르는 로프위에서 어떤 행동을 할까?
There is a space. It is just empty. Anything do not exist. The ropes spring
out any point of the space and more and more flow out. It’s like alive, when
it was blow violently and when it was quiet. Like stream...The ropes that fill
up freely in the empty space naturally match up the people’s action space.
What kind of action will people do on the flowing ropes?

눈썹같은 초승달이 추운밤을 알리는데
매화 흰 바탕의 그 밝음이 사랑옵다.
바람 자고 밤 깊은데 사람들 흩어진 뒤
찬 빛 서로 비추자니 향기도 맑은지고!
평소에는 전신거울과 작은 수납기능을 가지고 있지만, 하프미러를 이용하여,
전원을 켜면, 거울이 사라지고, 숨겨진 장식공간이 드러나면서 조명으로 바뀐다.

되어 멀티펑션을 요구하는 현대인들에게 다양하고 적절하게 쓰이면서 디자이너와 사용자의 관계를

도깨비풀을 응용한 옷걸이
어렸을 적 시골에 놀러가 산에 올라가서 놀다보면 옷에 도깨비풀이 잔뜩 붙어 있던 적이 많았다.
나도 모르는 사이에 내 몸에 숨어있던 도깨비풀을 보고 신기해했던 적이 있는데 이런 어렸을 적
추억을 그리며 옷걸이에 추억을 담았다.
기존 옷걸이는 옷을 걸기위해 걸 수 있는 형태를 만들어 내었다. 이렇게 걸기위한 수단으로 옷걸이
디자인은 딱딱하고 인위적일 수 있다. 도깨비풀을 응용한 옷걸이는 도깨비풀이라는 자연물을 응용해
서 형태적인 면에서 인공적이지 않고 감성적이다. 도깨비풀은 도깨비풀 자체가 옷에 달라붙어서 씨
를 퍼트리는 식물로 그 형태 자체가 옷에 붙을 수 있게 생겼다. 이런 도깨비풀을 응용해서 도깨비풀이
옷에 달라 붙는 것을 반대로 응용해 도깨비풀에 옷을 걸칠 수 있게 하였다. 자연물인 도깨비풀을 모티
브로 옷걸이의 전체적 형태 또한 한적한 시골풍경이 연상되는 듯 한 이미지로
옷걸이 자체가 하나의 공예품이 될 수 있다.

원판과, 떨어져 나온 두번째 판으로 동시에 표현되며,
이는 각각, 거울과 옷걸이의 용도로 사용된다.
하나의 판에서 분리된
쓰임새가 다른 각각의 피스는 재료의
사용을 최소화하고, 접었을 경우, 그 크기를 2분의 1로 축소하여
공간 활용도를 높게 한다.

현대 우리의 모습을 반영하는 모던한 형태와 함께 자연의 느낌을 부여한 stool.
심플한 형태와 함게 스툴로서의 기능적인 필요성을 고려해 작은 변화가 있는 stool.
간단한 bending기법이지만 튼튼한 형태를 위해 보조적인 요소를 첨가하였다.
또한 전통 짜임 방식을 이용하여 사용자가 불안함 없이 앉을 수 있도록 하였다.
현대와 전통, 자연을 함께 느낄 수 있다면...
The shape is from the reflection of the modern age. At the same time, it
is stained with nature. This is the most functional stool that has only a
little amount of changes. The simple bending techniques supported with
strong essential method. Also the stool is worked with traditional bend-
ing method to make user feel comfortable when they had a sit. All of these
processes are considered of homesick, modern and nature.

나의 무의식엔 내가 알지 못하는 우리만의 과거가 있다. 우리의 과거는
입식에 익숙치 않다 하지만, 우리의 현재는 입식에 익숙하다.
현재가 익숙하다는 이유로 나의 무의식(과거)은 소외되어왔다.
현재를 살아가는 외로운 나의 무의식(과거)을 위해,
작은 손길을 내민다..
현재 내가 있기 까지의 선택, 판단, 행동들
혹여나 익숙하고 쉬운것들로의 타협하지 않았던가
선택의 기로에서...
In my unconscious, there’s our secluded pass(history) that I’ve
been not catched. Our pass(history) doesn’t familiar with stand
- up life. But, we who lives in the present, familiar with stand -
up life. My unconsiousness(pass, history) has been neglected,
because the present is more important than pass. For my lonely
unconsicious(pass) which lives in the present, I hold out my
small hand,,
I’m always wondering about that my decisions in my life were
good or not. I decided everything by myself, but I’m not sure my
decision was good. I hope that decisions were best choice.This
time I still have new choices, and I’ll try to choose better one.

어느 순간 정신차리고 보니 이 놈의 뇌가 혼자
멋 한번 부려 보겠다고 이도 저도 아닌 것들,
다 그리지도 못하더라.
보다못해 꽁꽁 숨어있는 심장보고 네가 한번 해보라 했더니,
이리빼고 저리빼다 힘겹게 나와서는
혼자 소심하게 끄적끄적 식빵 하나 그리고 있더라.
고것이 왠지 귀여워,
뇌보고 가서 저 심장이 그린 것 좀 도와줘 봐라 했더니
다 그려졌다.
다리를 꼬는 게 습관이 되어버린 당신을 위해.
When I had a woke, Found out my naughty brain sketched out a stuff that
was terribly messy. And even seems hopeless to finish up with.
I was unable to attend this striking scene. So I told my ‘well hidden heart’
to accept this challenge. My heart is timid as a hare, but she started draw-
ing. First, she drew a loaf of bread. I was so excited and called my brain
And said: “look at this!” And they saw the drawing had finished, perfectly!
Remember when you ride a bicycle.
Using that pose, it would prevent legs crossing habit
which could break your body balance.

‘ 온고지신’ 이라는 사자성어가 있다. ‘옛 것을 익혀 새것을 앎’ 이라는 의미이다.
이것이 바로 내가 디자인하는 stool의 concept이다. 오래되고 낡은, 모두가 앉아 본
경험이 있기 마련인, 가장 일반적인 Stool 형태를 통해 옛 것을 익히며, 새로운
아이디어와 디자인을 통해, 모두의 궁금증을 유발시킬 수 있는 stool을 선보이는 것이
전시의 목표이다.
일상생활속에 스툴에 앉아 기분전환을 할 수 있다면?
당신이 이 스툴에 앉았을 때, 스키를 타고 하늘을 나는 기분을 느끼게 될 것이다
There is an old phrase “knowing new from learning the past”. It literally
means to get a new idea from practicing the old. This is what I intend to
design as my concept for the stool. My object for this Exhibition is to make
a new design from outdated,old and the most general shape of stool,
which, everybody had chance to take a sit in before.
what if you can refresh yourself sitting on a stool?
If you sit on this stool you will feel like you’re flying in the sky with ski.

내안의 또 다른 나를 꺼냈다.
그것은 어디서 부터 왔는지 알 수 없다.
하지만 그것은 정확히 나의 일부분이다.
당신의 무게에서 3kg을 덜어드립니다.
보기만 해도 날아갈 것만 같은 이 스툴에 앉으시는 분은,
앉는 동시에 몸무게가 3kg정도 빠졌다는 기분과
머릿 속 짐의 무게를 3kg정도 덜어냈다는 기분을 느끼실 수 있습니다..

어딘가 눈에 익숙한 모양의 스툴에 살짝 비율의 변화를 주고 양쪽에 큰
풍선을 달아서 보는 사람이 앉아보고 싶어하도록 유도했다. 앉아서 발받
침에 발을 올리면 발받침과 풍선이 같이 약간 아래로 내려오게 되어있어
예기치 못한 재미를 유발한다.
Putting on two big ballons to common-shaped stool, make
people be interested and like to sit on. When they put on their
foot on the prop, it goes down a bit with ballons and makes the
people a present of unexpected joy.

이건 제가 오다가 내려놓은 거에요. 있을 땐 무거운지도 몰랐는데 알고나니까 너무 무겁더라구요. 제가
이걸 발견한 건 얼마 안됐어요. 키가 한창 자랄 땐데 이상하게 더 안크더라구요. 왜 그러나 해서 봤는
데 이게 어깨 위에 떡하니 있는 거에요. 근데 제 껄 발견하고 나니까 남들 것도 보이기 시작하는데, 어
떤 사람 꺼는 어찌나 견고하게 스택킹이 잘되던지 어마어마하게 지고 다니면서도 모르는 건지 모르는
척 하는 건지... 또 그걸 자랑스럽게 들고 다니는 사람들도 봤어요. 어찌됐든 모두들 다 들고 있어서 내
려놓기가 좀 힘들긴 했죠. 눈치도 보이고 나 혼자 이상한 사람 되는 거 같고...그래도 이걸 내려놔야 키
가 다시 커요. 여기 걸터앉아서 조금만 쉬었다 갈 거에요. 이런 게 또 있을지모르는데 아직은 모르겠어
요. 당연함과 계속 싸워 봐야 알겠죠. 근데 이게 뭐냐구요? 저 무늬를 잘 보세요. 어떤 무늬 같아요? 별
같기도 하고 육각형으로도 보였다가 그냥 마름모처럼도 보여요. 그건 사람나름 이에요. 그건 마음대로.

This is what I put down. I didn’t know it’s heavy before I left it. It was not so long ago when
I found it. I had no idea why I was not grown enough. Then I found it on my shoulder. Once
I found it, then I could see other’s one. Someone got huge one but they didn’t or couldn’t
realize…Even there were some proud of having it. Anyway, it’s hard to put it down be-
cause everybody holds it. You know, I felt weird that I’m the only one who gets it off.But
I must take it off if I want to be grown up. Now I’m sitting here to have a rest for a while. I
don’t know is there anything like this over there. Maybe I would know after endless fight
against being accustomed to it. Ah, you want to know what it is? Look at that pattern.
What can you see? It would be looked as stars or hexagons or even in the shape of a dia-
mond. It all depends on you. It’s on your mind.
I ‘ve seen the gearing of cogwheel in a different way.
The gearing makes me raising up wholly.

두 함수 그래프의 교점이 이동하면, 두 그래프의 곡선과 x축이 이루는 도형의 넓이가
변한다. 다리가 만들어내는 두 곡선의 교점이 이동하면서, 스툴의 좌판 넓이가 변한다.
함수는 본래, function이라는 의미를 포함하기도 한다. 이차 함수의 개념을 활용하여
스툴에 간단한 기능을 넣어보고자 한다.
사용자의 의해서 사다리 타기게임을 하며 즐길수 있다.
As an interection point of two mathematical functions move, area of figure
made by two curves of graphs and x-axis varies. As an interaction point of
two curves showed on two legs of stool, area of seat is widened. f(x) also
originally means function. Using of notion of quadratic function, stool gets
additional function that is simple.
The stool which gives fun to letting user enjoy the ladder game.

것에 대하여 남다른 관심이 있는 나에게 시각을 위한 예술인 Opt Art는 다른 미술
사조보다도 너무나 매력이 크다. 그런 Opt Art가 사람들에게 주목 받았던 시기
는 3년 남짓. 시각의 감응을 담은 Opt Art에 비해 3년은 너무 짧은 시간이 아닌가.
Opt Stool은 Opt Art에대한 아쉬움이자 그리움이다.
그때를 기억해
Victor Vasarely was one of the pioneers of Optical Art. Sense of sight
is more interested than others. So Optical Art for vision is the most at-
tractive trend of art. But it was popular for only three years. It was too
short, compared to its fame. Opt stool is yearning. For this art.

인도신화에서 시바의 아들이자 ‘군중의 지배자’라는 뜻을 가진
가네샤의 왕관을 형상화했다.
그리스 로마 신화에 등장하는 美의 여신은 비너스이다. 그리고 현대의 美의 여신은
디자이너들이라고 생각한다. 보티첼리의 ‘비너스의 탄생’ 작품을 인용하여 세기에
기록되는 디자인들을 육면체 안에 표현해보았다.
그가 여정을 마치고 돌아올 때 황금양피는 물론이고 콜키스의 공주인 메데아를 아내로 맞이
하여 돌아 왔다고 한다. 나의 여정은 어떠할까? 내가 타게 될 아르고호는 과연 누가 함께 할
것이며, 돌아 올 때 나는 무엇을 가지고 올까?

이 상자는 무엇이었을까? 인간의 호기심으로 닫혀있던 상자가 열려버렸다.
상자에서 느닷없이 온갖 재앙이 쏟아져 내렸다. 모든 것이 빠져나가고
마지막으로 별들이 몇 개 떠간다. 이것이 바로 우리가 희망이라 부르는 것들이다.

그리스 로마 신화에 등장하는 인간들의 해적선을 본따서 그 옛날 바다를 지배하던
포세이돈의 느낌을 담아 전투적인 배를 만들어보았다.
신화는 우리에게 신기한 사건이나 동물을 생각나게 한다. 그래서 신기한 뭔가를 만
들어 보고 싶었는데 그 중 머리는 소이며 몸은 인간인 미노타우르스를 생각했고
그가 갇혀 있었던 미노스의 미궁을 표현하였다.
의도치 않게 하늘을 들게 된 아틀라스의 억울함, 힘듦, 고뇌를 표현함.
또 커다란 하늘을 드는 행동에서 느껴지는 힘과 기운을 형상화했다.

황금사과에 적힌 ‘가장 아름다운 여신에게’ 라는 문구 때문에 그리스의 세 여신이
서로 싸우게 된다. 결국 파리스의 심판으로 아프로디테가 황금사과를 가지게 된다.

인간에게 몰래 불을 선물한 죄로 제우스의 분노를 산 프로메테우스는 코카서스
바위에 쇠사슬로 묶여 매일 독수리에게 간을 쪼아 먹히는 형벌을 받는다. 그는
인간을 위해 권력과 대항했고 끝까지 타협하지 않았다. 때문에 그는 부당한 수난
에 대한 영웅적 인내와 압제에 반항하는 의지력의 상징이 되었다.
사랑에 빠지는 건 한 순간이다.
사랑에 빠지는 것은 자신의 의지와는 상관없다.
그 순간 존재하는 건 심장을 관통하는 날카로운 섬광 같은 빛줄기와
새록새록 피어나는 의미모를 감정뿐...
바벨탑 신화에서 모티브를 얻어 제작하였다. ‘바벨탑’이라는 이름에서 느껴지는
고정적인 이미지와 바벨탑이 폐허로 남게 되는데 중요한 역할을 하는 여러 가지
언어들을 조합하여 새롭게 재구성한 바벨탑을 표현하였다.

옛 그리스 신화의 신전을 연상케하는 빈티지풍의 선재구성
미끄럼틀, 계단, 롤러코스터. 선이 내려오면서 즐거움을 만들어 내는 것들이다. 그
러나 이 기구들은 ‘play’라는 이미지와는 역설적으로 위험물로 간주되기도 한다.
이 ‘플레이’는 안정성을 가미하여 좀 더 견고하고 구조적인 느낌을 표현하고 싶었다.
