HORMESIS
HISTORIA

Acute exposure to ionizing radiation is exemplified by the 86,520 Japanese survivors of atomic explosions ; 41,372 were in the exposed cohort. The total cancer mortality and leukemiamortality rates of lightly exposed survivors were consistently less than that of the control population. (Shimizu et al., 1992).
ESTRESORES DE TIPO FÍSICORADIACIÓNES IONIZANTES
AGUDA
Radiation hormesis in cancer mortality was found in 32,000 United States and 22,000 British military observers of atmospheric nuclear explosions(Robinette et al., 1985; Darby et al., 1988).
The cancer mortality rate of Canadian military observers was only 88% of carefully selected military controls(Raman et al., 1987). The leukemiamortality rate of the Canadian observers was only 40% of that of the unexposed controls.

AGUDA

TGF-Beta
The 47-kDa heat shock protein (HSP47) is an endoplasmic reticulum (ER)- resident molecular chaperone that specifically recognizes the triple helical region of collagen and is required for productive folding and maturation of collagen molecules. Only in the presence of HSP47, collagen type I molecules can be assembled into the correctly folded triple helices. ( Biol Sci Space. 2004 Oct;18(3):118-119.)

APORTE DE CALORÍASEvolutionary biologist Linda Partridge of University College London and colleagues wanted to determine whether the life-span gain results from reduced cumulative damage, such as that inflicted by metabolic byproducts known as reactive oxygen species, or from some other factor. In flies it would therefore appear that dietary restriction works by increasing the capacity to tolerate accumulated damage. The mechanism of this increased vigor is currently unknown but of obvious import.(Sci. Aging Knowl. Environ., Vol. 2005, Issue 8, pp. pe5, 23 February 2005)

OZONOOzone pretreatment prevented the increase in serum creatinine levels, the glutathione depletion and the inhibition of superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase activities induced by cisplatin in the rat kidney. Also, the renal content of thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances was decreased by ozone therapy. These protective effects of ozone were dose dependent. Protection by ozone preconditioning is mediated by the antioxidant system in cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity in rats. (Mediators Inflamm. 2004 Feb;13(1):13-9.)
