L’Hotel al Sole sorge nel Palazzo Marcello ancora di proprietà della omonima antica Famiglia presente in Venezia in modo documentato fin dal 12 dicembre del 982 quando due suoi componenti firmano assieme ad una quarantina di altri maggiorenti l'atto di donazione dell'isola di San Giorgio ai Benedettini ; uno di nome Pietro è considerato il capo-stipite mentre l'altro è un Vescovo. Il logo dell'Hotel , il leone azzurro che tiene in una zampa il sole risale alla fine del 1400 quando fu concesso dal Re Renato d'Angiò a Jacopo Antonio Marcello in segno di stima e amicizia tanto che lo rese partecipe dell'Ordine del Crescente , molto esclusivo e riservato a pochi cavalieri all'epoca famosi. Gli fu anche concesso un motto in pro-venzale " L'os en crossant" cioè l'acqua che cresce in breve l'acqua alta.

The Hotel al Sole is located in an historical building owned by an ancient family who-se presence in Venice can be dated back, at least, to 12th December 982 A.D., when two members of the family were among the 40 signatories of a deed whereby the small island of San Giorgio was donated to the Benedictine's order: one, Pietro, loo-ked upon as the founder of the Family, and another one, a Bishop

The logo of the Hotel, the Blue lion holding a sun, goes back to the late 1400, when the King Renato Angio' gave it to Jacopo Antonio Marcello as a token of friendship, also designating him to the Crescente Order, a very exclusive Knights' Order at the time. The King also offered him a motto 'L'os en crossant' which me-ans 'the rising tide'.

The Palazzo was built at the beginning of 1400 for Giovanni Marcello where previously

an ancient Monastery stood.
