Internet Explorer Configuration

Before you download Application Lifecycle Management on a client machine, you must perform the

following configurations to the Internet Explorer browser on the client machine.

1. Configure the Custom Level security settings. The Custom Level security setting should beconfigured for the specific zone of the ALM Platform server.

2. Set Internet Explorer as the default Web browser. This ensures that external links to ALMentities will open in ALM.

To configure security settings on the client machine:

1. In Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet Options. The Internet Options dialog box opens.2. Click the Security tab. The Web content zone of the ALM Platform server (Internet or Local

intranet) is automatically selected. Click Custom Level.

3. In the Security Settings dialog box, configure the following settings:Under .NET Framework-reliant components:

Set Run components not signed with Authenticode to Enable. Set Run components signed with Authenticode to Enable.

Under ActiveX controls and plug-ins:

Set Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins to Enable. Set Download signed ActiveX controls to Enable or Prompt.

4. On Windows Vista and 7:a.

Add the ALM Platform server site to the Trusted Sites security zone.

b. Disable the Protected Mode for the Trusted Sites security zone (Windows Vista default).5. Click OK.

To set Internet Explorer as the default web browser:

1. In Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet Options. The Internet Options dialog box opens.2. Click the Programs tab.3. Under Default web browser, make sure that Internet Explorer is set as the default browser. If

not, click the Make default button.

Notes from SAP Support:

1. Have you already turn Data Execution Prevention (DEP) and UAC off?a. To Change Data Execution Prevention settings

i. Open System by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Systemand Maintenance, and then clicking System.

ii. Click Advanced System Settings. If you are prompted for an administratorpassword or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

iii. Under Performance, click Settings.iv. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then click Turn on DEP for all

programs and services except those I select.

b. To turn UAC offi. Open User Account Control Settings by clicking the Start button , and then

clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type uac, and then click Change User

Account Control settings.

ii. To turn off UAC, move the slider to the Never notify position, and then click OK.If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the

password or provide confirmation. You will need to restart your computer for

UAC to be turned off.

2. Please try "run as administrator" when you access ALM server from client side.3. If problems stand still please deleted the Temp Internet files and re-install the client.
