    Subject DescriptionThis subject provides students an introduction to the key issues involved in themanagement and design of hospitality facilities. It presents the students with theintricacies of layout and design as well as facility management in hospitality facilities.The key terms, criteria, and methods employed in the design of lodging and foodservice facilities are introduced. In addition, an overview of the primary facilitysystems found in hospitality facilities is also presented.

    Subject OutcomesStudents will be able to explain and discuss hospitality industry facilitiesmanagement concepts.

    Students will be able to appraise, analyze and evaluate design features andprinciples within a variety of hospitality settings. Student will also be able to evaluateand criticizethe planning and design of various hospitality facility systems including:

    telecommunications, HVAC, safety and security, water and wastewater, electrical andlighting etc.

    Student will be able to explain the criteria and methods employed in the design oflodging and food service facilities.

    Student will also be able to apply the knowledge/concepts of primary facility systemsto lodging and food service design.

    Student will be able to communicate and reactproactively to the stakeholders in thehospitality industry in the areas of facilities management and design.
