Draft Indian Standard
Programmable controllers : Part 2 Equipment requirements and tests
Last date of receipt of comments is: 16-07-2017 Industrial Process Measurement and Control Sectional Committee, ETD 18 NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 2) (Second Revision) which is identical with IEC 61131-2 : 2007 ‘Programmable controllers - Part 2 : Equipment requirements and tests’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) may be adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Industrial Process Measurement and Control Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council. This Indian Standard was first published in 1992 which was identical to IEC Publication 1131-2 (1992). IS/IEC 1131 (Part 2) : 1992 was revised as IS 14254 (Part 2) to bring it in line with IEC 61131-2 : 2003. This revision has been undertaken to align it with the latest edition of IEC 61131-2 : 2007. The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminology and conventions are however not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they
should be read as ‘Indian Standard’. b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current
practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
In this adopted standard, reference appears to certain International Standards for which Indian Standards also exist. The corresponding Indian Standards, which are to be substituted in their places, are listed below along with their degree of equivalence for the editions indicated:
