In Winter, 60 % of the Northern hemisphere is covered with snow.

But, the area with risk for icing, is much larger.

Very often Icing occurs in areas where warm, humid air form the south collides with cold, dry

air from the north. This not necessarily happens in snow-covered areas.

Information about heavy ice loads on tower and nacelle
