ILM Level 4 Award in Leadership and Management 2 days 9:30- 4:30 The ILM level 4 Award is a concise qualification for new and aspiring department heads, regional team leaders and other middle managers who wish to gain business knowledge and develop the skills to lead at this level. The units delivered are designed to develop understanding of the role of a middle manager, understand the nature and purpose of an organisation and understand how to communicate effectively. Throughout the workshops there will be a number of different training methods utilised by the tutor to cater for all learning styles and these will include the following – theory, team exercises, individual questionnaires, discussions/debates and YouTube clips. Reflection time will be built in to cater for learning points to be consolidated; this will enable a clear link to be made between learning and the practicalities of the workplace. You will also discuss the assessments needed for the qualification and the tutor will guide and support you through the requirements.

Content:

Understanding the Management role to improve management performance

The specific responsibilities of middle managers in ensuring organisational goals achieved and how communication is important in that process. Evaluation of own managerial performance in order reflect on own practice.

Management communication

The relevance of the communication cycle and the effective use of written and verbal communication whilst evaluating own communication skills and identifying areas for improvement.

Evaluate the specific responsibilities of middle managers and the achievement of organisational goals and objectives

Use evaluation techniques to analyse own behaviours, knowledge and skills to inform a personal development plan with SMART objectives

Explain the importance of using appropriate language when communicating and be able to evaluate own ability to communicate
