Infinitiv vyjadřující účel (infinitive of purpose)

Máme tady nejprve dvě věty:

Sheila went by bus. She wanted to save money.

Nyní obě věty spojíme. V češtině bychom použili VV účelovou - Sheila jela

autobusem, aby ušetřila peníze.

V angličtině použijeme infinitiv vyjadřující účel.

Sheila went by bus to save money.

Další příklady:

Peter has a part-time job. He needs to get some extra money.

Peter has a part time job to get some extra money.

My mother went to the post office. She had to post some letters.

My mother went to the post office to post some letters.

Mary stayed at the college untill 9 p.m. She had to finish her History project.

Mary stayed at the college until 9 to finish her History project.
