    InteracesIsight has been designed with ease-of-use in mind. Highly visual andintuitive interfaces, wizards, and drag-and-drop capabilities allow you

    to work quickly and efciently.

    Design GatewayLeverage this intuitive graphical user interface to quickly createintegrated simulation process ows that couple simulation programsregardless of discipline, programming language, or format. Itprovides drag-and-drop process ow creation, parameter mapping,and problem formulation. This feature-rich process editor supportspowerful le parameters that can represent simulation models asvariables as well as dynamically sizable arrays for both inputs andoutputs. It also provides branching, looping, conditional statementsof arbitrary complexity with any parameter, and other executionlogic. At any point in the automated process ow, a break can beinserted to allow user intervention. This exibility, combined withJython/Python scripts to alter the runtime behavior of the model as afunction of changing parameter values, allows the creation of highly

    reusable processes. If an authoring error is made, the user can easilyrestore to a previously auto-saved version. Once the process ow isdened, the user interface enables easy import of externally denedparameter values and problem formulations. Utilities such as modelsearch, model content overview, parameter search, and parametergrouping are also supported.

    Runtime GatewayExecute engineering process ows and create graphs and tablesto visualize results. In the desktop execution mode, all job resultsare saved automatically to a locally managed MySQL database.The user interface supports the creation of visual tools for real-time postprocessing of data such as tables, 2D and 3D plots, andstatistical analysis. Run data can be ltered and graded with a exibleset of criteria. All scatter plots allow easy one-click visualizationof the virtual prototype by dedicated simulation results viewers. It

    provides interactive tools for visualizing parameter relationshipsand performance attribute trade-offs with interactive approximations.Users can share these approximations with non-Isight users byexporting them to Excel.

    Component Development EnvironmentAn easy-to-use component development environment based onEclipseTM supports the creation of application components thatcommunicate with one another in the Isight environment. Addcustom techniques, including DOE, approximation, approximationerror analysis, optimization and Monte Carlo sampling methods, andrandom variable distributions. Leverage the APIs of the existingtechniques in order to create custom hybrid search methods.

    Localization

    Interfaces, components, and messages have been localized forJapanese language support.

    Process IntegrationIsight includes a number of valuable application components thatare included with all package levels. These components are most

    commonly used for building simulation process ows and exchangingdata with external sources.

    AbaqusQuickly and automatically exchange data with Abaqus input, .cae,.odb, and .dat les. Support desktop solver execution, remote solverexecution, and results extraction on an LSF cluster.

    DymolaQuickly and automatically exchange data with Dymola input dsin.txtles and output with .mat les. Support for dynosim.exe desktop andremote execution in the SEE environment.

    Microsot Ofce Components: Word and ExcelSend Isight parameter values and results directly to a pre-formatted

    Microsoft Word documentan excellent way to quickly share resultswith others in the organization. Integrate Excel spreadsheets withIsight to allow parameters to be read from or written to cells andautomatically execute Excel macros.

    EmailSend Isight parameter values and results directly to a pre-formattedemail message that will be automatically sent at a predeterminedpoint in a process ow.

    MATLABIntegrate MATLAB les with Isight to allow parameters to be readfrom or written to MATLAB scripts.

    iSIGHT ComponentsThe iSIGHT File Parser component enables execution of parsingcommands in the iSIGHT classic Advanced File Parser. The iSIGHTcomponent allows an iSIGHT classic application to be executedfrom Isight. These two components aid in the migration from iSIGHTclassic to Isight.

    COM (Microsot Component Object Model)Directly communicate with COM objects.

    Data Exchanger, OS Command, and SimcodeData Exchanger enables easy data exchange between ASCII-based les. OS Command automatically executes operatingsystem commands, scripts, and operating system commands on agrid controlled by Platform LSF or using SSH. Simcode combinesthe functionality of the Data Exchanger and the OS Commandcomponents.

    An open desktop solution or creating fexible simulation process fows, consisting oa variety o applications, to automate the exploration o design alternatives, identiyoptimal perormance parameters and integrate added-value systems.

    Data MatchingCalibrate simulation models by minimizing any variety of differenterror measures using optimization techniques. Target data can beeither imported experimental results or simulation results generatedby a higher-delity code.

    ApproximationsCreate an approximation model for any task, any applicationcomponent, or from a data le. Response surface modeling

    (RSM) is available with four-term selection techniques, as wellas orthogonal polynomial models. The software also includesRadial or Ellliptic Basis Function methods with user selectableshape functions and smoothing, as well as a Kriging methodwith Exponential, Gaussian and Matern correlation functions.All methods support automatic cross-validation with easy-to-understand visual error analysis. The Visual Design Driver (VDD)interface allows users to visualize approximation surfaces in 2Dor 3D with overlaid constraints, and to make real-time changes orlaunch a design improvement strategy. The VDD calculates boththe global and local effects of the design variables on an output.

    Monte Carlo AnalysisLeverage simple random sampling, descriptive sampling, eightstandard distributions, and distribution truncation. This componentis easily extendable to other sampling methods through the plug-

    in framework. The distributions supported are: normal, skewednormal, log-normal, Weibull, Gumbel, uniform, Discrete-Uniformand exponential. A component for Stochastic Design Improvement(SDI), an iterative Monte Carlo procedure for improving a design, isalso included.

    Six SigmaUse probabilistic analysis to measure the quality of a designgiven uncertainty or randomness of a product or process. Performreliability analysis with the mean value method, FORM and SORMreliability method, DOE sample, or Monte Carlo Analysis. Thiscomponent can be used in combination with optimization andapproximation techniques to perform fast Six Sigma optimization.

    Taguchi Method

    Improve the quality of a product or process by striving to achieveperformance targets and minimizing performance variation. Thiscomponent supports Taguchi analysis for static, dynamic, anddynamic-standardized system types.

    CalculatorPerform calculations, unit conversions, data transformations andvector and matrix operations as part of the process ow for allparameter types including strings. The component editor supportssyntax-sensitive color coding and has tool tips for hints and errormessages.

    ScriptExecute a script of Java commands to manipulate parameters,

    interact with les, or invoke other programs.

    DatabaseInterface with a SQL-compliant relational database (Oracle, DB2,Access, or MySQL Server 2000) to support retrieval and storage ofinput and output data.

    Grid SupportEnable parallel submission of optimization, Monte Carlo, and DOEjobs on multiprocessor machines, in addition to Platform LSF or PBS/Torque batch submissions on Windows and Linux clusters.

    Design OptimizationIsight also offers several packages that are used to optimizethe simulated behavior characteristics in terms of performance,performance variance, and reliability. The design optimizationtechniques can be used individually or nested in the sim-ow. Mosttechniques leverage parallel execution and support options for thehandling of failed runs.

    Design o Experiments (DOE)Access a full suite of methods including Central Composite, Data File,Full Factorial, Fractional-Factorial, Box-Behnken, Latin Hypercube,Optimal Latin Hypercube, Orthogonal Array, and Parameter Study

    with appropriate postprocessing options. Achieve a user-denedapproximation cross-validation error with automatic sequentialsampling.

    Optimization and Target SolverDene your optimization problem in terms of variables and multipleweighted and scaled objectives and constraints using the followingalgorithms: Gradient: NLPQL, MMFD, LSGRG2; Pattern: Hooke-Jeeves, Downhill Simplex, Adaptive Simulated Annealing; MixedInteger/Real: MISQP, MOST; Genetic Algorithms: Evolution, Multi-Island GA; Multi-Objective: AMGA, NSGA II, NCGA, Particle Swarm;Other: Stress-Ratio Method, Pointer I & II Automatic Optimizer,Approximation Loop. Specify target values for the output parametersof the process ow and deploy the target solver to modify the inputvalues to achieve those goals. Visualize optimization results usingseveral available tools including the Engineering Data Mining
