On September 11, 2016, the children’s fashion designer Jackie Tejada will showcaseher newest collection for Spring-Summer 2017 in a fashion event in New YorkFashion Week to benefit St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This facility isdedicated to treat children with catastrophic diseases. Children from all 50 states andfrom around the world are treated in this hospital and families never receive a bill fortreatment.

This event, titled New York Fashion Gallery, is one of the fashion events held duringNew York Fashion Week. Puerto Rican designer presents in New York Fashion Week

San Juan, Puerto Rico – The fashion designer, Jackie Tejada has been selected toshowcase her newest collection “Little Miss Jackie Goes to New York” on September11th, 2016 in New York City. The collection for Spring-Summer 2017 will be presentedat the New York Fashion Gallery at Affinia Hotel on 7th Avenue.

Through the selling of entrance tickets, Jackie Tejada and her team aim to raise$10,000 to donate to St. Jude Children Research Hospital. Throughout her career,Jackie has dedicated her art to the confection of children’s apparel and her desire isthat funds raised during the event benefit children that receive medical attention at St.Jude.

Jackie Tejada is a Puerto Rican children’s fashion designer with over 25 years ofexperience. Her art has taken her abroad to showcase her collections at show andexhibitions. CAREER BEGINNINGS

At the age of eleven and while living in New York City,Jackie Tejada would spend afternoons at her father’s sewingfactory where she grew eager to learn to sew. During heradolescence, Jackie took sewing classes in a communitycenter in Bayamón, Puerto Rico that owned only one sewingmachine. As a result, students would have to learn how tosew by hand. Jackie’s art was also perfected after attendingdesign schools with teachers and fashion designers such asCarlota Alfaro, Hilcia Verberena and Pilar Silva.

A very important teacher in Jackie’s life is a woman whoused to take public transportation with her. In each ride, theolder woman would teach Jackie how to do Smocking. Afteryears of practice and education, Jackie has mastered theSmocking. This embroidery technique consists of gatheringfabric in a way it can stretch without the use of elastic bands.Smoking has been present in the majority of Jackie Tejada’scollections.

BIOGRAPHY

When Jackie’s daughter was born, she felt the desire to sew for her. Everyone wouldpraise the clothes her daughter would wear and even some mothers would say that theywould love if they could dress their daughters in designs like the ones Jackie made.Jackie’sdesigns have been presented in craft fairs and fashion shows. In 1998, she participated inFeria Bacardi with two spaces to showcase and sell her designs.

With more than 25 years of career, Jackie has created vibrant and elegant designs that areage appropriate and fashion forward.

RECENT EVENTS

Jackie designs have been showcased in Puerto Rico’s most important fashion events suchas Puerto Rico High Fashion Week and San Juan Moda. In September 2016, she willpresent her newest collection, Little Miss Jackie Goes to New York in the Fashion Galleryduring New York Fashion Week.
