Dr. Destler’s E-Vehicle Autocross for Imagine RITDesigned, Fabricated and raced E-Vehicle

e: [email protected] t: (617) 678 - 0499

Major Work:-Machined crimper tool.-Designed and preformed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on motor mount.-Welded additional supports.

Details: Last semester while taking advanced knowledge ofelectrical and mechanical engineering I successfully lead ateam of 7 in the design and fabrication of an electric go-kartfor an E-Autocross Competition

Specification: Used a powerful 28 HP electric motor topower the go kart which demonstrates both speed andmaneuverability while also allowing for advanced dataacquisition of various components, used for Engineeringclass now.

Learning Curve: Learned quick time management skills tolead a team properly and split tasks appropriately. One hourbefore the event an error in my program allowed doublenecessary current to pulse through the electronics burning upthe contactor. “Unofficial” run time would have woncompetition, beating our University Electric Vehicle Clubwho took first place.

3-POINT BENDING FATIGUE TESTER

*Team consisting of Jesse Radzikowski, Alice Watts, Steve Brown, Nick Ryan, Mike Rodriguez, Taylor Osmonson & Harhsil Sukhadia completed this project over a course of a 10 week quarter term.

Constraints:

Electrical:

Due to the 10 week time constraint to design, fabricate, verify and validate the original design wasnot fabricated. The College of Applied Science andTechnology allowed our team to use the “GreenMachine” due to its resemblance to our originaldesign. In return the College will now use theFatigue tester for Engineering classes.

*Due to confidentiality I am only at liberty to discuss various projects, Sketches, testing, analysis, brain storming & process . These pictures represent, some but not all, projects of which I completed while working for Shark Ninja in from Jan 2015 to Aug 2016 in Newton, MA.

Solution:Designed and implemented internal testing equipment which output high quality data. The push pull machine followed strict ASTM standards forthe substantiation of performance claims. It also provided a work bench platform to design new testing protocols to meet high demands fordeveloping new KPI’s.

Testing Equipment:

Control Module & GUI

Tasks:Design testing rig from off theshelf components.

Developed GUI for userinteraction.

Developed Macro to analyzelarge sets of data to decreaseanalysis time and increaseanalysis accuracy and quality.

Designed mechanismssupporting varying handlesand from range of units

Hot Coffee: 60% longer, Cold Coffee: 66% longer.

Packaging Prototypes:

Performance Testing: Hot & Iced Coffee

Goal: Allow the packaging to visuallycommunicate the use of the product.

Manufacturing Cost Reduction:

Metallic foil was cheaper and gave an enhanced performanceappearance due to its reflectivity. Soft goods went from a Velcrowrap around to a slip on product. Additionally sewing in a zig-zagrequires less manual labor and gives a greater quality to theproduct. Average total savings of 60% per unit.

Design and Development of JavaSkinz™Supporting a start up company

Design and Development of a product to make coffee hotterlonger. FAILED attempt at crowd source funding onKICKSTARTER, raised $3,261 of $9,500 needed for massproduction. Post Kickstarter company, Nova Solutions LLC,brought on investors.

Fisher-Price™ Co-opProduct Development Engineer

New Product Development:I designed a new phone case for the laugh and learn apptivity monkey. The case allowed for non iPhone to be used. There is a small market forapple products which would fit into this toy. The larger market share of othersmart phones would result in greater sales of this product. The case alsotwisted into the doll, thus when the phone was not in use with the toy thecase could be taken off for use as a normal plush toy.

Designed the Stroller Activity Pal clip. Market research was done at a localToys R Us to obtain the testing parameters to ensure the design of the clipwould match various stroller types and function properly.

*Due to confidentiality I am only at liberty to discuss various projects, Sketches, brain storming & process . These pictures represent, some but not all, products I worked on while interning at Fisher-Price™, in the summer of 2013, which are now on the market for purchase.

Product Modifications:The bath toy was having trouble properlyflipping through the water. Used various weightdistribution and holes inside the toy to make itfunction properly.

Pooh bear would not properly push down, required large force. Modified interior of productso that the arms would go into the toy. Placedinternal guides for arms to avoid pinching.

Cross Collaborated with various Engineering, Industrial Design and Marketing teams to come up with new toy innovations.

Personal Projects: Color OrganEnhancing music with visual stimulation

Description: Using an electrical circuit to emulate the pulse of a musical frequency into light.

How: Through the use of operational amplifier, op amp, I was able to generate a circuit to split the frequency of sound and apply it to any type of light source compatible with a standard US plug.

Future: Developing same circuit principles of this circuit to place in the top of a Voss bottle. Have the colours, frequency and intensity controlled via an app through bluetooth connectivity.

Personal Projects:Yamaha Coaster & RIT Chocolate Bar

e: [email protected] t: (617) 678 - 0499

Yamaha Coaster:Used JPG image to design Yamaha symbol in Auto Desk Inventor. Importedmodel into Edgecam where I programmed the proper tools, paths, feeds andspeeds to to generate a computer numerical control (CNC) code for the CNC mill.

RIT Chocolate Bar: CAD model > 3D Printed model> Thermoformed mold > Chocolate Bar.

Designed Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) chocolate bar. Desired a design which represented RIT properly. RIT is known as“Brick City” for having over 15,615,000 bricks used throughout the campus. To incorporate the sense and style of the University theback of the chocolate bar represents the bricks, the tiger paw represents the mascot (Tiger) and of course the school abbreviation ofRIT.
