Beste vrijwilliger,

toegankelijk vanaf 14, 15 of 16 jaar.

Number of volunteers: 12

Nature of work: MANUAL WORK / ENVIRONMENTAL

Additional costs: €150

Age: 15-17

The project

Le Domaine provincial de Chevetogne is a big centre for environmental education and social

tourism. Pupils from primary and secondary schools come there to participate in activities

that focus on the discovering of the nature and rural way of life. During the summer, many

kids and families make a one-day excursion to the Domain or stay there for holidays, doing

sports, picnics, and enjoying the nature. The motivated staff members from Le Domaine de

Chevetogne are really keen to share their passion for the environment with international

volunteers. Website: www.domainedechevetogne.be

Work

The volunteers will fit out a new path and build a beehive in a protected area of the domain

They will also do some maintenance work on the buildings made during previous camps. The

work will be held under the monitoring of qualified technical leaders, which are motivated to

teach traditional methods of wood work to the volunteers. The work might be sometimes

long and difficult. Volunteers will spend the whole day outside. Do you want to see how it

looks like? This is what the local television told and showed about the camp 2012 (scroll

down to have the video): http://www.matele.be/joomla1.7/index.php/actu/actu-

commune/ciney/15545-les-compagnons-batisseurs-en-chantier-international-a-chevetogne

plenty of opportunities for entertainment: outdoor swimming pool, football fields, minigolf,

and tennis or basketball playgrounds… During the weekend, it will be possible to organise

cultural visits and to travel to the biggest Belgian cities. The town of Ciney is 10 kilometres

away from the Domain of Chevetogne. From there, it is very easy to reach bigger urban

Kopu village is a centre of Municipaliity of Kopu, one of the smallest in Estonia with total

cleaned up the school park, and did some renovation jobs at the old graveyard. Besides

practical help, the volunteers made a significant impact on community life bringing new

dynamics, intercultural exchange and international contacts to local youth. Being inspired by

the years of international volunteering experience Kopu Municipality authorities continue

hosting international camps and invite international volunteers this summer again. This year

international camp will be combined with the national teenage work- and leisure camp

taking place in Kopu at the same time.

Kopu Primary School occupies old German manor house surrounded by the large park. There

will be various jobs in the school park and around the school building - mainly clearing and

tidying up of the park as well as other objects importance of the community (e.g. public

period. Work will be mostly outdoors. Volunteers will be working along side with local

youngsters of the national camp. The work will last only 4 hours a day from 9am to till lunch.

Scoured by Ice Age glaciers, the dramatic east coast boasts long, narrow fjords with steep

providing beautiful sweeping views. “Fjarðabyggð" is an association of villages in the Eastern

fjords of Iceland. It includes the towns of Eskifjörður, Fáskrúðsfjörður, Mjóifjörður,

Neskaupstaður, Reyðarfjörður and Stöðvarfjörður, all tiny fishing villages with steep

mountains towering just behind the houses. In this area you will see some of the features

that make Iceland a unique place in the world: spectacular fjords with a rich sea life, a great

variety of birdlife, and countless breathtaking hiking paths. You will explore the area during

your stay in the east.

Work

Our teenager’s camp aim is to provide fun and educative time for the young participants.

During the 12 days program participants will have the chance to get to know Icelandic

nature, history and people. The Team leaders of these camps will be trained on how lead

kids of this age and oriented them into how to be a part of the daily community life in a

camp. The young volunteers will follow a program which is a mixture of environmental

voluntary work and games. We will also go for hikes to discover the fantastic landscapes in

the East of Iceland. The volunteers will also help with renovation and environmental work in

the area . Since the location of the camps is located in the east of Iceland our young

volunteer will have the opportunity to enjoy a round tour around Iceland with the extra fee

Project

All the activities of the volunteers will be organized by WWF Provincia di Crotone . The main

pourposes of this association are environment and legal control. This camp is important

from another point of view since the volunteers will sleep in a hostel (formerly it was a

market confiscated to local mafia ). The WWF turned an old building closed since 1997 in to

an hostel called C.E.L.A. without any economic help. The province of Crotone is the poorest

of Italy and unfortunately it is economically controlled by mafia , consequently we decided

to work together with other associations in order to create a mafia-free economy and to

improve the economic level of the community. WWF will host international volunteers to

provide an intercultural experience and to support the activities in favour of the

environment and to improve the hostel premises.

when the Greeks started colonizing the south of Italy ( Magna Grecia) . Crotone became a
