    GOLF TOURNAMENT

Above: Inaugural winners Team Myers Marketing withDavid Myers,Dave Buckley, Gordon Moore and Ian Crombie.

The Alumni was delighted to support a golf tournament (18holes) at Chisholm Park (Dunedin) which is being used topromote golf and sport at Kavanagh College, whilst also helpingfund-raise for the Kavanagh College 1st XI to go to BrisbaneAustralia in January 2014 to play in the Christian BrothersTournament.

Although the weather did not come to the party, all 26 teams gotaway on time within the Ambrose format. From all accountsthere was some very good golf played and a lot of fun had. With the raffles, entry fees, drinks cart, BBQ and hole sponsors, the day raised over $4,700.00 for the 1st XIs trip to Australia. This is a great result for the team and The Kavanagh AlumniTrust will be holding this event on an annual basis going forward.

2013 has proven to be another

    successful year at the college

    and the Alumni has been

pleased to have been able to

    acknowledge and contribute to

    that.

    There has also been positive

    movement on the organisation

    of the Jubilee, the promotion

of sport within the school and

    mentoring systems within the

    college.

We were proud to see the

    awarding of so many Academic

Blues at the start of the year

and to see the Rowing Teamhave such great success at the

    National Championships.

    The Golf Tournament was a

huge success. This will be a

    regular fixture on the Alumni

    calendar.

Look out for the creation of an

    Alumni business networking

group in 2014. This is one ofour major projects which will

help us to solidify support for

    the school within the

    community.

    Once again, heartfelt thanks go

to the entire board for the

energy that they have put into

    the never-ending task of

    building the Alumni.

    Best wishes for the festive

    season. Looking forward to a

    great 2014

Inaugural MassKavanagh Alumni were represented along with the Foundation Schools at the Inaugural Mass at the Collegein 2013. Its a rare thing for adults to have the opportunity to join 1000 well behaved young people.

Representatives of the Foundation Schools attended with banners representing each school. Speaking atthe Mass, on one of the hottest days of the year, Tracey OBrien spoke on leadership. During the yearKavanagh Alumni have reflected on this and the opportunities for leadership that each of us has.

We are negotiating for a few places to be available again at the 2014 Inaugural Mass. With 1000 people

gathering in the school gym, the number of places will always be limited. Well be in touch again when thedate is known
