GENERAL INFORMATION
The Vidyalaya is run by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan under the Ministry of Human Resource
Development, Department of Education with an endeavour to facilitate children of central
Government Employees, Defence personnel and employees of Autonomous bodies who are liable to
be transferred from one state to another state to receive uninterrupted educational facilities with
easy accessibility to any Kendriya Vidyalaya in any part of the country.
The school embodies some of the good features of Public school with emphasis on Indian culture
and values without raising the cost of education.
MEDIUM
The medium of instruction is bilingual. Mathematics and science subjects are taught through English
language and social science through Hindi as well as English language.
AFFILLATION
The Vidyalaya is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, Preet Vihar, New Delhi and
prepare students for the All India Secondary School (class X) Examination and All India Senior School
Certificate (class XII) Examination of the Board.
SCHOOL ACADEMIC YEAR:
The academic year starts from 1st April and ends on 31st March of the following year.
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
a) A child must be at least 5 years old on 31st March in the academic year in which admission is
being sought for admission.
b) An upper age limit for admission is fixed as the minimum age limit plus two years.
Method of admission
For class I to VIII- No admission test would be conducted for admission to class I to VIII. All
application received would be divided into five categories in order of priority to the extent
vacancies available.
For admission to class IX an admission test would be conducted and a merit list would be
prepared for each category of priority separately.
MEDICAL FACILITIES
Medical check up of the students will be done twice a year.
EXAMINATION
FOR CLASS I AND II
1. There is no formal examination for class I and II. The teacher will evaluate the students
through continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE). The testing can be done
simultaneously while teaching or separately. Most of the time the student will not be aware
that they are being tested.
2. There will be minimum 8 cycles of CCE.
3. One cycle of CCE means that all the students of the class are tested in all the competencies.
4. They should obtain at least ‘C’ grade. If a child gets ‘D’ grade in some competencies, the
teacher should repeat the cycle.
5. It is therefore recommended that tentatively 10 cycles of CCE should be planned in advance,
so as to ensure that at least 8 cycles are completed by all the students securing at least ‘C’
grade in all the competencies by March.
FOR CLASS III to X
1. In class VI, the student scoring E grade in Half Yearly and Yearly examination can be
given one opportunity to improve their performance in Half Yearly and Yearly
examination separately.
2. For class III to VIII there will be periodic test in each term of 40 marks which will be
reduced to 10 marks in report card for final assessment.
3. For class X, a new pattern of assessment will follow having an internal assessment of
20% and 80% external assessment as weightage.
4. For class IX and X CBSE pattern will be followed. There will be three periodic written
tests in the entire academic year and the average of the best two will be taken. For
the purpose of graded learning, three tests may be held as one being the midterm
test, other two being are pre-mid and post-mid term test with portion of syllabus
cumulatively covered. The average of the best two tests will be taken for final
assessement.
Grading will be carried out separately for scholastic (academic) and non-scholastic
(co-curricular) activities.
5 For March 2020 onwards, CBSE will conduct two Maths Exams for Class 10 Boards - Maths Basic and Maths Standard Maths Basic is for students who do not want to pursue Maths in Class 11 and 12. While Maths Standard is compulsory for students who want to take up Maths in Class 11, 12 and College The Maths Basic Exam is easier than the Maths Standard Exam.
6. The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA): PISA is the OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment. Every three years it tests 15-year-old students from all over the world in reading, mathematics and science. The tests are designed to gauge how well the student’s master key subjects in order to be prepared for real-life situations in the adult world. Why choose 15-year-olds? Because in most countries, at the age of 15, students can decide whether or not they want to continue their education. They therefore need to be equipped for adult life. PISA publishes the results of the test a year after the students are tested to help governments shape their education policy.
