년부터 오는 2012년 까지를 ‘한국 방문의 해’로 선정된 것이 어느덧 한 해가 흘러간다. 한국 방문의 해 위원회는 외래 관광객 1천만 명, 관광수입 130억불 달성, 관광경쟁력 세계 20위권 진입을 목표로 건실한 활동을 이어오고 있다. 관광산업의 중요성이 날로 부각되고 있는 요즘, 위원회의 이연택 한양대 관광학부 교수를 만나 위원회의 비전과 목표에 대해 들어봤다.글·사진 | 유정미 대학생기자단(성균관대)It has already passed a year since 2010 through 2012 was designated as ‘Visit Korea Year’. The Visit Korea Committee has been conducting substantial activities with goal of achieving 10 million foreign tourists and $13 billion revenue and securing the 20th level of tourism competitiveness globally. Q. 위원회의 활동과 추진하는 사업에 대해 소개를 부탁한다

Q. Please introduce about activities and task of the committeeA. 현재 위원회는 민관협력방식으로 진행되고 있다. 최근 중요성이 대두되어 각 분야에서 추진하는 ‘협력적 거버넌스(Governance)’의 일종이라고 이 위원회의 사업을 요약할 수 있을 것 같다. 이전에는 관광산업의 주체가 문화체육관광부나 한국관광공사 등 국가 기관 중심으로 운영됐던 것이 민간으로 전환된 후 정부와 기업, 여러 단체가 함께 참여하면서 한국을 세계적으로 알리는 데에 공동의 목표를 정하고 집행하고 있는 것이다. 때문에 위원회의 사업 분야는 고유사업과 협력사업 두 가지로 나눠져 있다. 특히 고유사업의 경우에는 관광의 브랜드화를 추구하는데, 최근에 진행되고 있는 ‘코리아 그랜드 세일(Korea Grand Sale)’을 예로 들 수 있겠다. 이 사업을 추진하면서 위원회와 유통 사업이 협력해 한국을 브랜드화 하는데 있어 시너지 효과를 기대하고 있다.A. Presently, the committee is operated on a private-public cooperation basis. The task of the committee can be summarized as a sort of ‘cooperative governance’ which is conducted in various fields with its importance given more than ever recently. Previously, the central operating organization of tourist industry was government bodies such as the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism, Korea Tourism Organization. Since it has been converted to private sector, a number of groups have been participating to set and carry out the common goal of publicizing Korea globally. So, the tasks of the committee are divided with two of own and cooperative one. Own task in particular pursues to make tourism as a brand, as shown in the case of ongoing ‘Korea Grand Sale’ for example. In the process, synergy effect is expected while the committee and distribution businesses cooperate to make Korea as a brand. Q. 우리나라의 관광산업은 어떤 방식으로 나아가야 할까

Q. How do you think the country’s tourist industry should go forward?A. 관광에는 21C적 측면이 매우 크다. 왜냐하면 이것이 세계화 현상 중의 하나이기 때문이다. 전 세계가 관광을 위한 여러 가지 인프라와 서비스를 구축하려 하는 것도 이러한 흐름이라고 본다. 이러한 측면에서 우리나라의 관광은 방문자를 위한 것이 되어야 한다. 특히 서울이 방문자의 도시로 성장하기 위해서는 그들을 위한 물리적 시설이나 IT분야 등 많은 부분을 구축하는 것이 필요할 것이다. 관광 생활 여건 자체가 주민공간과 방문자공간이 혼합된 형태로 변하는 것 역시 중요하다.A. Tourism involves aspects of the 21st century. I mean it is one of phenomena of

globalization. That is why every country in the world attempts to establish diverse infra and services for tourism. In this respect, the country’s tourism should be for visitors. In order for Seoul to grow as a city for visitors, it is required to set up much of physical facilities or IT field for them. Also it is important to make conditions of tourism environment as combination of residents’ and visitor’s space. Q. 그렇다면 위원회의 활동성과는 어떠한가Q. Then, how is the performance of the committee?A. 사실 이 부분은 위원회가 모든 사업을 전담하고 있는 것이 아니기 때문에 성과지표에 대해서 확실히 조사하기는 어려운 부분이 있다고 생각한다. 위원회가 구조적으로 유통, 공연 분야 등 여러 분야들과 협력해 사업을 추진하고 있으므로, 어떤 주체의 노력이 더 있었는지를 판단하기가 쉽지 않은 것은 사실이다. 하지만 확실한 것은 올해 한국을 관광하는 외국인 관광객이 전년도에 비해 훨씬 많이 늘었다는 것이다.A. As a matter of fact, the committee is not wholly in charge of all the tasks and I think it is hard to examine performance indicators precisely. I mean the committee is conducting under cooperation with various fields including distribution, performing arts and it is not easy to estimate which organization might have made more contributions. But one thing is certain, the number of foreign tourists visiting Korea this year has increased by far compared to the previous year.Q. 위원회의 앞으로 계획은Q. What is the future plan of the committee?A. 우리의 계획이 있다면 한국의 브랜드 이미지를 함께 구축하는 것에서 나아가 관광을 하나로 개념화 시키는 것이다. 우리는 관광과 함께 새로운 협력요인들이 가치의 사슬을 만드는 것이라 생각해서 이 사업을 추진하고 있다. ‘한국 방문의 해’라는 계기성은 한국과 관광에 관련한 새로운 인식의 계기를 만들 수 있을 것이다.A. We plan to conceptualize tourism in one entity, one step further from cooperative establishment of Korea’s brand image. We are promoting this mission based on our thought that new cooperative factors along tourism are making new chain of value. Motives of ‘Visit Korea Year’ may lead us to new recognition of Korea and tourism.Q. 마지막으로 종로구의 관광정책에 대해 조언한다면Q. Lastly, could you give your advice to tourism policy of Jongno-gu Office?A. 종로구에는 서울의 대표적 문화유산이 있고 역사와 현대가 뒤섞여있다. 하지만 과거와 현대성만 가지고 방문자 도시를 형성하기는 어려울 것이다. 앞에서도 말했듯이 관광에서는 방문자를 위한 지역 커뮤니티를 형성하는 것이 매우 중요한데, 종로구에는 아직까지는 지역 커뮤니티 활성화가 부족한 점이 있다. 여기에는 미래성이 포함돼야 하며, 관광학과 지역생태학, 도시학이 함께 협력하고 지속적인 연구를 진행해야 한다고 본다.__A. Jongno-gu has the typical cultural heritages of Seoul with mixture of history and modernity. But it may be difficult to make the area for visitors with only those factors. As aforesaid, forming regional community for visitors is very important in tourism, while Jongno-gu has not activated regional community sufficiently. For this, future should be considered and the Office has to carry on continuous study of tourism, regional ecology and urbanology together with integration of them.

볼 것 많고 즐길 것도 많아 사람 냄새 물씬 나는 곳 종로. 광장시장이 있어 온종일 사람들로 북적거리는 종로 5가에서는 특히 사람 간의 정을 느낄 수 있다. 종로5가역 5번 출구에서 5분 정도 걷다 보면 ‘특별한 보통 식당’을 만날 수 있다. ‘명동 닭 한 마리’, 특별하다 한 것은 그 맛이 일품이기 때문이며, 보통이라 한 것은 어디서나 흔한 닭을 음식재료로 한다는 점에서다.Jongno is full of human affection with a lot of things to see and enjoy. At Jongno 5-ga bustling all day with people with location of Gwangjang Market, human affection can be felt particularly. Five minute’s walk from Exit No. 5 of Jongno 5-ga Station will bring you to ‘special normal restaurant’ - Myeongdong Dakhanmari(One Chicken). It is special because of its unique taste, and normal because the material of food is so common chicken.

한결같은 맛으로 한번 찾은 손님들을 다시 오게 하는 맛집점심을 먹기에는 약간 늦은 시간임에도 식당 안에는 빈자리가 없다. “어서 오세요. 오래 기다리셨죠?” 반갑게 손님을 맞는 주인아 주머니의 인사에는 장사 잘되는 식당에서 흔히 겪기 쉬운 푸대접 같은 느낌과는 전혀 다른 따뜻함이 있다. 괜히 기분이 좋아진다. 말 한마디가 사람의 마음을 이렇게 행복하게 할 수 있다는 생각을 하면서 손님들이 가장 많이 시킨다는 엄나무 닭 한 마리를 시켰다.House of taste compelling guests to come again with unchanging tasteEven at a time a bit late for lunch, there is no vacant seat. “Welcome. Have you waited long?”The greeting of the madam receiving guests gladly has the warmness quite different from cold reception of restaurants which don’t run well. I feel somehow good. Thinking over the fact that a simple word can make people happy, I ordered a chicken made with kalopanax, the most popular menu of the house. 이곳에 터를 잡은 지 27년, 처음처럼 한결같은 맛으로 한번 찾은 손님들을 다시 오게 한다는 소문이 과장이 아님을 확인하는 순간이다. 엄나무 향기와 닭국물이 어우러진 맛은 잠자고 있던 미각을 확 깨우는 감칠맛이 있다. 오랜 세월 변치 않는 맛을 유지하는 비결이 무엇일까? 비밀은 바로 지경자 사장의 고집이다. 육수, 소스, 닭. 엄나무가 들어간 육수는 심심한 맛과 동시에 깊다. 새콤달콤한 맛이 일품인 소스도 그냥 만들어진 것이 아니다. 감초, 다시마, 해초와 같이 몸에 좋은 7가지 재료를 넣고 4시간 동안 푹 끓인 소스에 아삭함이 일품인 부추도 듬뿍 넣은 것. 다음은 가장 중요하지만 평범하다고도 볼 수 있는 닭. 유통이나 보관에 드는 비용을 줄이기 위해 식당 대부분이 냉동 닭을 사용하는 것과는 달리 여기의 닮은 매일 새벽 배달된다. 그날 들여온 닭은 모두 그냥 소비한다는 설명에 그제야 닭 특유의 누린내가 나지 않고 담백하고 쫄깃하다는 것이 새삼 느껴진다. 이러한 비결 때문일까? 꾸준한 단골이 많다. 5년째 이곳을 찾는다는 범광만씨는 “저는 아직 단골 축에도 못 속한다.”며 “신선한 닭과 환상적인 소스의 절묘한 조합이 일품”이라고 말했다.Since it began its restaurant 27 years ago, the house is rumored to compel guests to visit again with unvarying taste once they visited, and I could learn it was not an exaggeration. Mixture of kalopanax flavor and chicken soup is so delicious as to awaken sleeping sense of taste. What would be recipe of unvarying taste for such a long time? It is the stubbornness of the owner madam Ji Gyeong-ja with delicate combination of broth, sources, and chicken. Taste of broth with kalopanax is both bland and deep. Sources of unique sweet and sour taste are not made normally. It is made by putting plenty crisp leeks to four-hour boiled sources made of healthy seven ingredients such as licorice, kelp and seaweed. The next recipe, most important but normally neglected, is chicken. Whereas most restaurants use refrigerated chicken to reduce expenses of distribution or storage, this house gets chicken delivered early in the morning every day. Hearing from her that the day’s delivered chicken should be used up in that day as a principle, I could feel anew that chicken here were clean and chewy without smell of fat. Probably owing to these recipes, the house has many regular customers. Mr Beom Kwang-man, who was said to come here for five years, told me: “Many people have been coming here longer than me, delicate combination of fresh chicken and fantastic sources is the first

class of its kind.”

작은 골목길에서 시작하여 역사의 현장까지 모두 느껴볼 수 있는 사직동, 코끝을 스치는 차가운 바람도 무색하게 마음 따뜻이 다녀올 수 있는 멋진 곳이다.From small alleys to the historical scenes, Sajik-dong is a charming place where people can visit with warm heart against the cold waves.

옛 추억에 잠기게 하는 골목길 '서촌'으로의 발걸음사직동의 분위기를 둘러보려면 그 시작은 '서촌'이 제일 적합하다. 경복궁 서쪽에 자리 잡은 마을이라 하여 '서촌'인 이곳은 골목길 자체가 관광명소가 된다. 지하철 3호선 경복궁역 4번출구로 나오면 경복궁 서쪽을 가로지르는 효자로가 보인다. 효자로에서 경복궁 돌담길을 따라 올라가면 경복궁의 서문인 영추문이 보이고 그 맞은편의 대림미술관이 우리가 떠날 시작점이 된다. 대림미술관 근처의 골목길 가운데에 영험한 기운이 샘솟아 보이는 나무들이 보이는데, 이곳이 바로 '통의동 백송터'이다. 한때는 우리나라 백송 중에서 가장 크고 수형이 아름다웠던 나무였으나, 지난 1990년 태풍으로 고사하여 밑동만 남고 그루터기 옆으로 심어진 후손 4그루가 당당하게 혈통을 잇고 있다. 동네 한 가운데에 자리 잡은 이곳은 마치 그 마을을 지켜주는 수호신처럼 그 모습만으로도 위엄이 있고 시선을 사로잡는다. 백송터를 뒤로하고 골목길을 따라가다 보면 골목길 사이사이로 한옥집이 보인다. 여기 서촌은 특정한 지역이 아닌 바로 이러한 골목길 자체가 관광명소이다. 높고 조밀하게 자리 잡은 아파트에만 살던 현대인들에게 이러한 한옥 골목길은 향수를 불러일으킨다. 좁은 골목길 사이사이에 모여 있는 한옥은 그 풍경만으로도 정을 느끼게 한다.Footstep to ‘Seochon’: an alley brings forth old memories To have a look around Sajik-dong, ‘Seochon’ may make the best starting point. Called ‘Seochon’ as it is a village located at the west of Gyeongbokgung Palace, its alleys become a tourist attraction themselves. Coming out from Exit No. 4 of Gyeongbokgung

Station, Subway Line 3, you can see Hyoja-ro cutting through the west of Gyeongbokgung Palace.Going upwards along stone wall of the Palace, you can see Yeongchumun, the western gate of the Palace, and now the opposite side Daelim Contemporary Art Museum will be our starting point. At the center of alley around the Museum, there are trees looking as if emitting spiritual energy – this area is ‘Tongui-dong White Pine Site’. Once, the trees were the largest and most beautiful white pine trees in the country, but typhoon in 1990 forced them withered, leaving merely the bottom of trees, and descendent four trees rooted beside the stump succeed the family unyieldingly nowadays. Situated at the center of the town, this place shows dignity in its look itself as if a guardian of the town and attracts people’s attention. Leaving behind the White Pine Site and walking along the alley, you can see Hanok(traditional Korean houses) in between the alleys. In Seochon, these alleys are tourist attractions by themselves, rather than specific area. These alleys among Hanok are enough to stir a sense of nostalgia to us who are used to live in high and densely-located apartments. The landscape of Hanok gathered in between narrow alleys itself makes people feel comfortable.

매콤한 떡볶이와 따뜻한 차 한 잔에 녹아드는 추위서촌을 나와 사직동으로 향하는 길목에 매콤한 냄새가 발길을 이끈다. 배화여자대학으로 가는 골목길에 위치한 이 동네의 터줏대감 떡볶이 집 '선희네 집'. 이 동네에서만 20년 정도 떡볶이 장사를 해 온 이 곳은 겉모습이 화려하지도, 멋있지도 않지만 20년의 내공을 고스란히 간직한 맛집이다. 밀떡에 빨간 고추장 양념을 묻힌 떡볶이, 국물에 담가진 계란들, 아주머니가 손수 만드시는 김말이는 그곳을 지나다니는 남녀노소 누구나의 발길을 잡는다. 학창시절 하굣길 꼭 들르던 떡볶이 집이 생각나게 하는 곳이다. 매콤한 떡볶이로 허기진 배를 채웠다면 따뜻한 차 한 잔을 마시러 가볼까. 배화여자대학 정문에서 매동초등학교 방향으로 쪽 가다보면 길 왼편에 '사직동 그가게'라는 특이한 이름의 카페를 찾을 수 있다. 21세기형 글로벌 평화 유목민 집단의 공작소이자 보따리 공정무역 가게인 이곳은 여느 카페와는 다른 분위기를 풍긴다. 이곳은 록빠 가게 2호점인데 록빠는 티베트어로 ‘친구’라는 뜻이다. 아담한 가게 안에는 티베트 여성들이 만들어 보낸 물건들이 전시되어 있고 이것을 구입할 수도 있다. 물건도 사고 티베트 친구들도 돕자는 취지이다. 차 또한 특별하다. 일반 커피도 있지만 인도의 대표적인 차 ‘짜이’가 맛과 향 별로 준비되어 있다. 마치 외국 길거리의 작은 카페처럼 아담하게 꾸며진 이곳은 사직동의 숨겨진 명소이다.Coldness melting down by spicy tteokbokki and hot teaOn the way to Sajik-dong from Seochon, spicy smell induces people. It is ‘Seonhinae Jip’(Seonhi’s House), the oldest tteokbokki house in this community, located at the alley on the way to Baewha Women’s University. This house, which does not look showy, nor stylish, has been running tteokbokki business for last 20 years and is a house of taste with so long recipe. Tteokbokki made of wheat paste with seasoning of red pepper paste, eggs in broth and laver-wrapped fried food the madam makes herself attracts almost all passers-by. It reminds people of their school days when they used to drop on tteokbokki house after school. Now that we have tasted tteokbokki, shall we go for a cup of hot tea? On the way from the front gate of Bawhwa Women’s University to Maedong Elementary School, you can see a special-named cafe ‘Sajikdong Geugage’(That Shop) at the right side of the road. This place, which is a crafts shop of 21st type global peace nomad group as well as peddler’s trade place, shows quite different atmosphere from normal cafes. It is the second shop of Rogpa, which means a ‘friend’ in Tibetan. In the cozy shop, there is a collection of goods Tibetan women made and sent here, and people can buy them. The shop aims to buy and sell goods, and help the Tibetan friends. The tea is also special; India’s typical tea ‘Chai’ is served by taste and flavor apart from normal coffee. Decorated neatly like a small cafe in foreign countries, the shop is the hidden charm of Sajik-dong.

토지와 곡식의 신을 만나는 곳, 사직공원사직동하면 제일 먼저 떠오르는 것은 역시 사직공원이다. 든든한 배를 채웠으니 이제 사직동의 하이라이트 사직공원으로 향해보자. 사직공원은 가운데 사직단을 중심으로 주변에 황학정, 단군성전, 안향청 등의 볼거리가 많은 넓은 공원이다. 사직공원으로 들어서는 초입에 거대한 사직단 정문이 우리를 맞이한다. 정문을 거쳐 안으로 들어가면 정방형 모양으로 사직단이 펼쳐진다. 사직단은 조선시대 토지의 신인 사(社)와 곡식의 신인 직(稷)에게 제사를 지내던 곳이다. 조선을 건립할 때에 경복궁의 동쪽에는 종묘를, 서쪽에는 사직단을 설치하였는데 그만큼 이곳은 종묘와 함께 왕조의 정통성을 상징하는 곳이다. 대지같이 넓게 트인 사직단은 햇빛을 온몸으로 받아내는 것과 같은 신비로움마저 느껴졌다. 사직단을 거쳐 위로 올라가면 궁술을 연습하던 황학정이 보이고 그 옆길을 따라 내려오다 보면 단군성전도 만날 수 있다. 단군성전 안에는 단군상이 모셔져 있는 것도 볼 수 있다. 공원을 산책하듯 천천히 움직이는 발걸음과 함께 역사의 한 자락을 흠뻑 느낄 수 있는 매력적인 곳이다. 작은 골목길에서

Sajik Park, where people can meet the gods of land and cropsAbove all, Sajik-dong reminds people of Sajik Park. So, let’s start from Sajik Park, the area’s highlight. Centered around Sajikdan(Altar), the Park is spacious with a number of sights such as Hwanghakjeong, Dangun Seongjeon(Shrine), Anhyangcheong. A large main gate of Sajikdan greets us at the entrance of the Park. Entering the main gate, square-shaped Sajikdan spreads. It was the place in which people held memorial service for god of land Sa and god of crops Jik during the Joseon Dynasty.While founding Joseon, the dynasty built Jongmyo Shrine at the east side of Gyeongbokgung Palace and Sajikdan at its west side, so Sajikdan is symbolic of the dynasty’s legitimacy together with Jongmyo Shrine. Spread widely like the earth, Sajikdan emits even mysticism as if sunshine brightening the Mother Earth. Going upwards along Sajikdan, you can see Hwanghakjeong, old training place for archery and going downwards along its side alley, there comes Dangun Seongjeon, where statue of Dangun is enshrined. Sajik Park is an attractive place in which you can feel the scenes of history along the footsteps through the Park. From small alleys to historical scenes, Sajik-dong is a good place to visit warm-heartedly against the cold winds.

Funtasy in Pursuit of Childhood Dreams Written by Kim So-young, Tourism Industry Department, Photographed by Pentatonic바쁘게 살아가는 일상 속에서 어린 시절의 동심이 그립다면, 혹은 따뜻한 마음으로 이 추운 겨울의 추위를 이겨내고 싶다면, 대학로에서 공연하고 있는 넌버벌 퍼포먼스쇼 ‘펀타지’를 보길 바란다. 우리가 TV에서 익숙하게 보았던 개그맨 임혁필과 이광채를 중심으로 다양한 퍼포먼스로 이루어진 펀타지는 우리에게 평소 잘 볼 수 없었던 다양한 볼거리를 제공한다.이 공연은 처음에 프로마술사가 등장하여 관객들과 같이 호흡하며 마술쇼를 보여주는데 마술 그 자체도 재미있고 신기하지만 프로마술사의 표정연기는 우리에게 충분한 웃음을 안겨준다. 뒤이어 준수한 얼굴의 버블아티스트가 나와, 어릴 적 우리가 했었던 비눗방울 놀이와는 비교가 안 되는, 객석까지도 비눗방울이 떠다니는 대형 버블쇼를 보여준다. 그냥 비눗방울이 아니라, 버블을 가지고 모양을 만들고 예술을 만들어내어 자연스럽게 아이관객과 똑같이 날아오는 방울을 만지게 된다. 다음으로 임혁필과 이광채가 홀로 연기하는 것과 같은 마임쇼를 보여주고, 뒤이어 눈 깜짝할 사이에 옷을 갈아있는 미녀배우와 함께 스윙댄서의 커플댄스는 신나는 노래와 함께 어깨를 들썩거리게 만든다.다양한 퍼포먼스로 기존의 대학로 연극과는 차별을 둔 넌버벌 퍼포먼스 ‘펀타지’는 마지막에 임혁필이 색다른 모습으로 샌드애니메이션을 보여주는데 무심한 듯 스케치하는 손가락에서 모래들은 감동을 가져다 주는 그림을 보여준다. 새로운 볼거리의 재미와 감동까지 안겨주는 펀타지! 이 겨울 함께하길 바란다.If you long for the childhood amid busy life, or want to weather the cold waves with warm heart, I recommend you to view nonverbal performance show ‘Funtasy’ now performed at Daehangno. Composed of various performances including show of gagmen Lim Hyuk-pil and Lee Kwang-chae with whom we are familiar through TV, Funtasy offers the audience with various unusual sights to

enjoy.At the beginning of the show, a professional magician appears to present a magic show in tune with the audience, which is interesting and curious in itself but also his face expression gives the audience a hearty laughter. And then, a handsome-looking bubble artist comes to the stage to perform a grand bubble show with bubbles reaching even to the audience seats, incomparable to one we used to play during the childhood. As bubbles form shape and artistic figure, the audience naturally tend to touch the flying bubbles like the children. And Lim Hyuk-pil and Lee Kwang-chae present a mime show as if performing alone, and a beautiful actress’ changing of her cloth so quick, couple dance of swing dancers excite the audience together with the songs.In the final part of nonverbal performance ‘Funtasy’ which is differentiated from current dramas at Daehangno through diverse performances, Lim Hyuk-pil presents unique sand animation, in which sands make emotional pictures by his unwittingly sketching fingers. Tour 03 1박2일 강호동이 흥분했던 광장시장 먹을거리 타운광장시장 먹을거리 촌에는 우리국민들의 영양 간식이자 여성들의 사랑을 받는 순대를 비롯해서 다양한 먹을거리들이 여행객들의 발길을 저절로 움직이게 만드는 음식의 천국과 같은 곳이다. 광장시장에 자리 잡은 유일한(내가 알기로는) 수수부꾸미 좌판은 수수로 만든 떡과 팥고물로 맛을 낸 것으로 고향생각이 절로 나게 만드는 정감이 있는 음식이다그래서 그런지 수수부꾸미 가게 앞에는 연로하신 어르신들이 줄을 서서 기다릴 정도로 인기 있는 음식이었다. 나도 그 뒤를 이어 줄을 서있다 수수부꾸미를 먹어 보았는데 쫄깃쫄깃하면서도 달콤하고 고소한맛이 우리가 흔히 먹는 단팥빵과는 또 다른 맛으로 이글을 쓰고 있는 순간에도 입에 침이 고이게 만드는 묘한 마력이 있는 음식인 것 같다.Tour 3: Gwangjang Market Food Town which excited Kang Ho-dongGwangjang Market Food Town is like a paradise of foods which induces tourists with various foodstuffs including sundae - nourishing snack for the country’s people and popular food among women in particular.Street stall Susubukkumi uniquely at Gwangjang Market, which is made of sorghum cake and adzuki bean paste, naturally reminds us of the childhood. That was why elderly men made a queue in front of the stall to eat such popular food. I was also in the queue behind them. I tasted Susubukkumi; it was so chewy, sweet and aromatic, different from normal sweet bean jam bun that I miss it even now.

깊은 동네로 지금도 그 문화가 곳곳에 존재하여 1970년부터 무려 40년의 정체된 모습과 지금까지 변화된 모습을 동시에 볼 수 있다.한옥을 개량해서 만든 상점과 음식점, 한옥과 일본식의 조화된 건물, 여러 인형을 가득 진열해 놓은 가게. 여기에 현대식의 갤러리와 카페, 작은 박물관들이 들어서면서 전통과 현대가 함께 어우러진 그런 곳이다. 이러한 삼청동이 디자인서울거리 프로젝트에 선정되어 새롭게 변화했다. 과연 어떤 모습일지 새 옷을 갈아입은 삼청동을 향해 발길을 옮겨보자. 광화문을 지나고 경복궁을 따라 안으로 들어가면 총리공관과 삼청공원 쪽으로 올라가는 길이 보인다. 이 길이 바로 아름답기로 유명한 ‘삼청동 길’이다.길을 걷기 전 힘을 보충하기 위해 먼저 배부터 채우고자 한다면, 하얀 벽돌 위에 마치 진짜 나무인 듯 그려져 있는 ‘수와래’를 찾아가보자. 물水와 올來라는 뜻을 합쳐 물 흐르듯 자연스럽게 찾아오는 곳이라는 의미를 지닌 이곳은 이름처럼 많은 사람들로 가득 차있었다. 전체적으로 화이트와 베이지색을 이용해 아늑한 느낌을 주는 이곳은 전통의 맛으로 가득할 것 같은 삼청동에 이탈리아의 맛을 느낄 수 있게 한다.

Samcheong-dong, a place of both preservation and change Samcheongdong – a place maintaining long history and traditions amid splendid and gorgeous changes downtown – is an old town and still has the cultural remains here and there and allows people to have a two different look of its stagnant 40 years since 1970 and changes at once. It is a place in harmony of traditions and modernity by recent adding of stylish galleries, cafes and small museums to previous shops and restaurants rebuilt from Hanok, buildings with mixture of Hanok and Japanese styles and shops with exhibition of a lot of dolls. Designated as part of Design Seoul Street Project, this Samcheong-dong has undergone a change. Let’s explore a new look of Samcheong-dong. Passing through Gwanghwamun and following Gyeongbokgung, there comes a way going upwards to the prime minister’s official residence and Samcheong Park. This street is the famous ‘Samcheongdong-gil ’.To refresh ourselves for the exploration, let’s drop in ‘Suwarae’, letters of which are drawn like real trees on white bricks. Meaning to visit naturally like the coming(rae) of water(su), this place was full of people like its name. Giving comfortable atmosphere by using white and beige colors to the house, the place offers the visitors with Italian taste to Samcheong-dong seemingly full of traditional tastes.

거리의 정서가 담긴 간판이렇게 먹고 보고 즐기며 거리를 걷다 보면 아직 때 묻지 않은 간판들이 눈에 들어온다. 예전부터 삼청동의 대표적인 음식점 삼청동 수제비는 아무런 특색 없는 대형 간판대신 원목을 바탕으로 깔끔하게 채널사인을 설치하여 삼청동의 품격을 올린다. 독특한 형태의 부동산 안내사인도 눈에 띈다. 하얀 판 위에 빨간 집 모양이 달린 간판은 한눈에 부동산의 특징을 보여준다. 완고하게 개선사업을 거부했었다는 삼청동 세탁소는 하얀 반팔티를 입고 명찰 같은 소형간판을 달았다. 다른 곳에서 볼 수 있는 세탁소와는 다른 귀엽고 깜찍한 모습이다. 자연스럽게 사람들의 발길을 잡아끄는 간판도 보였다. ‘걷기 힘드시죠? 잠시 쉬었다 가세요.’라는 문구를 가진 이 간판은 가게를 위한 홍보일 뿐인데도 기분이 좋아진다.Signposts with feelings of the streetWhile eating, seeing and walking like this, one could find very fresh signboards. For a long time, Samcheong-dong’s typical restaurant Samcheongdong Sujebi heightened the region’s class by installing clean channel sign on hardwood instead of normal large-scale signpost. Also unique signposts of real estate agents stood out. Signs with red house on white board categorically showed it was a real estate agent at a glance. Samcheongdong Laundry, said to have stubbornly rejected the improvement project, put on nametag-looking small signpost with the appearance of white short-sleeve T-shirts. It looked uniquely cute and lovely. Also there was a sign that induced people’s footsteps simply. With the title of ‘Have a break if you feel tired of walking’, the sign made passersby feel nice though it was merely for advertisement.

밤하늘과 함께 한눈에 보는 삼청동한참을 걷다가 밝았던 하늘에서 태양이 지고 나면 그때의 삼청동은 더 아름답다. 길마다 자리 잡고 있는 가게들은 하나 둘씩 불을 밝히며 자신의 존재를 빛낸다. 이런 삼청동의 풍경을 한 눈에 볼 수 있는 곳이 바로 ‘Coffee Cia’ 이다. 바람이 불면 돌아가는 노란 바람개비가 문 앞을 지키고 있는 이곳은 내부도 온통 노란색인 모습이 인상적이다. 와플과 커피를 즐기며 벽마다 그려진 해외 유명 배우나 가수들의 그림을 감상하는 것도 쏠쏠한 재미다. 그러나 이곳의 매력은 달콤한 와플도 향긋한 커피도 아니다. 바로 은은한 커피 향과 함께 삼청동의 모습을 한눈에 볼 수 있는 3층 스카이라운지다. 이곳에서 보는 삼청동 길의 경치는 이루 말할 수 없다. 더군다나 삼청동의 풍경뿐만 아니라 동서남북 어디든 내려다 볼 수 있어 그야 말로 장관이다. 이곳에서 삼청동을 배경으로 찍는 사진은 좋은 추억거리가 될 것이다.

이처럼 새롭게 단장한 삼청동은 다양한 모습들로 사람들의 발길을 끌고 있다. 이런 변화한 삼청동의 모습에 아쉬움을 느낄 수도 있겠지만 거리를 걷다 보면 그 아쉬움 이상의 상쾌함을 느낄 수 있다. 삼청동의 색다른 맛과 멋을 즐기고 싶다면 지금 바로 출발하자.Samcheong-dong seen at a glance with the night sky After sunset while walking, Samcheong-dong shows a more beautiful look. Every shop on the streets lightens one by one and shines their existence. The best place whereby to see this landscape at a glance is ‘Coffee Cia’. This shop, the front of which is guarded by yellow pinwheel spinning on wind, is characteristic of yellow look in its interior as well. Viewing pictures of famous overseas actors/actresses, singers drawn on each wall while enjoying waffle and coffee is also nice. However, its real attraction is neither delicious waffle, nor flagrant coffee. It is in the sky lounge on the 3rd floor where people can have a look at Samcheong-dong at a glance over soft fragrance of coffee. Landscape of Samcheongdong-gil seen from this vantage point is beyond description. Not merely landscapes of Samcheong-dong, it allows the viewers to see to all directions, creating a spectacular view literally. Pictures taken here against a backdrop of Samcheong-dong would make people an indelible memory. Newly decorated Samcheong-dong like this attracts the people with diverse looks. Though a bit missing old things with a change, people can feel refreshed more than ever while walking through the street. Let’s start now for Samcheong-dong if you want to enjoy its taste and chic.

윤동주 시인, 사람들에게 윤동주 시인은 어떻게 다가가는가. 시를 가까이 하지 않는 우리 한국인들에게 윤동주 시인의 시는 자주 듣지만 온몸으로 와 닿지 않는 그런 존재일지도 모르겠다. 여기 이곳 인왕산 끝자락에 윤동주 시인을 느낄 수 있는 곳이 있다. 부암동에 위치한 ‘윤동주 시인의 언덕’이다.2009년 7월 11일, 종로구에서 마련한 윤동주 시인의 언덕은 어느새 종로구의 새로운 관광명소로 떠오르고 있다. 윤동주 시인을 기리기 위해 윤동주 시인의 언덕 오르기 행사를 진행하기도 하고 이곳을 일부러 방문하는 이도 늘어가고 있는 것이다.청와대를 따라가면 나오는 이곳에 왜 윤동주 시인의 언덕이 위치하고 있는 것일까. 그것은 바로 윤동주 시인이 실제 이 곳에서 시를 지은 것으로 알려져 있기 때문이다. 대표적으로는 ‘서시’, ‘별 헤는 밤’ 등이 있다. 연희전문학교 재학시절 그는 인왕산 자락 누상동에서 하숙을 하였고 자주 이 언덕을 방문하였다고 한다. 이를 기리기 위해 마련한 언덕인 것이다.부암동 주민센터에서 약 80M 가량 떨어진 곳에서부터 윤동주 시인의 언덕은 시작된다. 빨간벽돌로 이어진 길을 걷다보면 윤동주 시인의 ‘서시’가 새겨진 큰 돌을 만날 수 있다. 또한 윤동주 시인의 친필원고도 전시되어 있다. 생각보다 높은 곳에 위치해 있어 서울의 인왕산을 곁에 두고 옹기종기 모여 있는, 사람 사는 건물과 하늘이 한 눈에 들어온다. 계속해서 이어지는 윤동주 시인의 언덕길에는 난간 하나 하나 그리고 계단 하나 하나에 서 윤동주 시인을 피부로 느낄 수 있다. 난간의 나무에는 윤동주 시인의 시 제목들이 하나하나 새겨져 있고, 계단 한칸 한칸에는 시의 한 소절 한 소절이 쓰여 있는 것이다. 한 계단 한 계단을 밟으며 그의 시를 읽어나가는 기분은 이루 말할 수 없다.특히 저녁에 오른 윤동주 시인의 언덕은 밤하늘과 건물에서 비추는 아름다운 빛들이 마음을 울린다. 이곳을 찾는 누구라도 ‘별 헤는 밤’의 한 구절을 떠올리지 않을 수 없을 것이다.윤동주시인의 언덕은 작은 공연으로도 활용될 수 있다. 언덕의 길에 작은 공연장을 마련해 두어 주기적으로 그를 기리는 공연이 열리는 것이다. 실제로 지난 11월에는 음악가를 초청해 작은 음악회를 개최하기도 하였다.

윤동주 시인의 언덕만 보기에 아쉽다면 종로구에서 마련한 윤동주 문학관 역시 볼거리 중 하나이다. 지난 12월 4일 마련된 문학관은 윤동주 시인의 언덕 입구에 위치해 가볍게 찾아가 볼 수 있다. 또한 윤동주 시인의 언덕(청운공원)은 종로구 관광산업과에서 마련한 골목길관광 제4코스인 생태·문화탐방길-부암동코스 중 9번째 장소로 부암동 골목길관광을 하면서 찾아가 볼 수도 있다.Poet Yun Dong-ju, how will he be reflected to the people? To Koreans who are not so much familiar with poems, his existence may be felt intangible, though hearing his poems often. Here at the edge of Mt. Inwangsan, people can feel his presence; ‘Poet Yun Dong-ju Hill’ located at Buam-dong. The Hill, which was arranged by Jongno-gu on July 11, 2009, has become a new tourist attraction all too soon. Hill-climbing events take place in memory of him and more people are visiting this place nowadays.

People may wonder why the Hill is located at this particular place around Cheongwadae. It is because he was known to have written his poems here - his typical poems, ‘Seosi’, ‘Star-counting Night’. During his Yeonhui College days, he lived in a boarding house at Nusang-dong, edge of Mt. Inwangsan and was known to have come to this Hill from time to time. In memory of this, the Hill was arranged. The Hill starts from the place 80m off the Buam—dong Community Service Center. Walking along red-brick road, you meet a big stone engraved with his poem ‘Seoshi’(Introductory poem). Also his own written manuscripts are exhibited. Situated at a higher altitude than thought, you can see at a glance people living here and there around Mt. Inwangsan, the houses and the sky. On the continuing Hill, you can feel his presence realistically by each handrail and step. On trees of handrail, titles of his poems are engraved one by one, and on each step, paragraphs of his poems are written one by one. Reading his poems on each step is quite emotional. Climbing the Hill in the evening, you will be touched by beautifully-twinkling stars on the night sky and earthly lights from the nearby buildings. By this time, nobody can’t pass here without citing one or two paragraphs of ‘Star-counting Night’.The Hill is used also for mini performances. On the road along the Hill, a mini stage is arranged for periodical performances in memory of him. Actually there was a mini concert by invited musicians last November.Further to the Hill, Literary Hall of Yun Dong-ju prepared by Jongno-gu will make you another attraction. Opened on last December 4, the Hall is located at the entrance of the Hill allowing easy access to the people. Also Poet Yun Dong-ju Hill(Cheongun Park) is marked as the 9th site of Buam-dong course for Exploration for Ecology, Culture, which is the 4th alley tour course arranged by the Tour Industry Department of Jongno-gu and you can visit during Buam-dong tour as well.

어른부터 노인까지 어느 시간이나 사람들이 끊이지 않고 드나드는 종로의 한 장소, 그 곳에 도시의 이미지와는 사뭇 다른 공간이 있다. 바로 광장시장의 수입 구제 상가. 간간히 새 제품이 있다고는 하지만 이 상가의 대부분의 것은 누군가의 손길을 거쳐 들어온 것들이다. 문 하나를 지나쳐 들어가자마자 다른 시간 속에 있는 듯 아련한 분위기와 옛 것의 향이 강하게 느껴진다. 조금 조금씩 모여 있는 가게 하나하나에선 현재 유행하는 것이 아닌 그 옛날 언젠가 빛을 보였을 것 같은 다양한 무늬를 지닌 옷, 신발, 액세사리들이 걸려있다. 이제 광장시장 수입구제상가의 몇 군데 가게를 살펴보자. 가게는 상가를 들어서면서부터 위치하고 있는 순서대로 나열했다.At a place of Jongno always bustled by people from adults to the old, there is quite different space from the urban image. Journey in Search of Treasures ofVietnam’s Last Dynasty Written by Kim So-young, Tourism Industry Division, Photographs offered by National Palace Museum of Korea국립고궁박물관에서는 ‘베트남 마지막황실의 보물’이라는 주제로 기획전시를 준비하였다. 국립고궁박물관은 청계천이나 삼청동에서 종로를 구경하다 경복궁에 들렀다면 꼭 방문해야할 곳이다.베트남 마지막 봉건왕조라고 할 수 있는 응우옌(1802~1945) 왕조는 1802년 베트남의 전국토를 통합한 최초의 왕조이자 마지막 봉건왕조였는데, 중부지역인 후에(Hue)에 새로운 왕도를 건설하고 참파왕국이 있던 남부까지 점령해 역사상 가장 큰 영토를 이뤘다. 이번 전시에는 응우옌 황실의 유물을 소장하고 있는 베트남 후에궁정박물관의 ‘황태자 보좌’등 대표 유물 81건 165점이 전시되는데 2층 기획전시실에서는 황제국가로서의 위상을 갖췄던 응우옌 왕조의 역사와 한·중·일 동아시아 국가들과 공통되는 유교문화 그리고 황제, 황후의 예복을 비롯한 화려했던 황실의 생활문화를 보여주는 각종 유물들이 전시된다.특히, 들머리에 금칠 빛나는 황태자의 보좌는 등받이에 권위를 상징하는 이글거리는 태양과 장수를 비는 수(壽)자 모양이, 팔받침에는 여의주를 문 용이, 맨 아래엔 용의 정면상, 사자등이 새겨진 명품이다. 황제 및 황후의 예복은 노랗고 붉은 바탕색에 봉황과 용들의 무늬로 꿈틀거리는 황태자, 황후의 중국풍 복식과 터번 형태의 베트남풍 모자가 대비되고 있다.응우옌 황실 내부는 금으로 가지를 만들고, 옥으로 잎을 만든 분재로 장식됐다. 금지옥엽(金枝玉葉)이란 말을 그대로 형상화하여 우리나라의 상화(床花:종이나 천으로 만든 조화)와는 전혀 다른 양식을 보여준다. 아울러 1층 정보검색실에는 1993년 유네스코 세계문화유산으로 등재된 황성과 황릉 등 후에역사유적지를 3D입체 영상물 등으로 소개한다.The National Palace Museum of Korea has prepared a special exhibition under the title of ‘Treasures of the Vietnamese Nguyen Dynasty’. The Museum is a must place to visit if you entered the Gyeongbokgung Palace while touring Jongno either at Cheonggyecheon or Samcheong-dong. The Vietnamese last Nguyen Dynasty(1802-1945) unified the entire country in 1802 as the first and last feudal dynasty. And it founded a new capital in central area of Hue and conquered the southern part of the country which belonged to Champa Kingdom to form the largest territory in its history. This exhibition displays typical relics of 81 items and 165 pieces including ‘The Prince’s Throne’ of Hue Royal Antiquities Museum which possess relics of the Nguyen Dynasty. In the special exhibition hall on the second floor, there will be a display of various relics of history of the Nguyen Dynasty demonstrating dignity of emperor state; Confucian culture common to the Eastern Asian countries of Korea, China and Japan; splendid royal cultures including formal dresses of the emperor and empress. Particularly the Prince’s Throne is a masterpiece of class. Gold is shining in its body, glaring sun symbolic of its authority and figure of su(壽) for long life are engraved on its back of the throne, with dragon biting cintamani on its arm prop, facet figure of dragon and lion on the bottom. While formal dress of the emperor and empress are made in yellow, the prince’s has patterns of wriggling phoenix and dragons based on red color. Also it shows contrast of Chinese dress and turban-shaped Vietnamese hat of the empress. Inside the imperial palace, potted plants are decorated with golden branches and jade leaves. They formed Geumjiogyeop(precious like gold and jade) literally whereas in Korea artificial flowers made of papers or clothes were prevailing at the equivalent times. Also in the information kiosk hall on the ground floor, the exhibition introduces via 3D images the historical remains of Hue including Imperial Capital and Imperial Tomb which were registered as the World Cultural Heritage of UNESCO in 1993..
