Third is an example of brainstorming conceptual designing session during 2 days workshop and for th is a result of my diploma work.

The Waterfront project on Maddalena will consist of three main stages. In the first stage, the urban space will promote on the direct city contact with the sea by applying natural and local elements. The second stage is the transition area, with the objective to connect the first and last stage. Finally, the third stage, the natural space which consists of less urban buildings where is proposed to extend the nature interaction to the Waterfront.TheThe general proposal is based on the organization of pedestrian and vehicular flows with the purpose of creating better means of transit in the existing roads and promote a relationship between the user and the site nature.

Specific land uses in Maddalena Island were located. Stra-tegic corridors along the Waterfront area required additio-nal attention due to their rela tionship with main connectors between Maddalena and Caprera Island. These corridors are categorized into four areas: Green zones, Parking areas, Main street, Walking corri-dors.

The military area divides the waterfront into two parts. The east part is vacant because there are not comfortable walking way there from the downtown.According to the task, the military area should be moved and new use for this territory has to be found.

The island is not used by locals and tourists now, but it possesses big recreational potential.

The most attractive part of the waterfront is occupied by a ferry and the parking.

The market located between Botany Garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Park of Agricultural Academy.We suggested to make green corridor between this green areas and put new market in the way of this corridor. The green way will connect three districts will serve as a pedestrian way to metro and railway stations.We proposed to build pedestrian bridge above the Timiryazevskoe highway as a part of this way and place the market on that bridge.

4. KUDRIN FACTORY. NEW LIFE CONCEPTIONThere are many problems in PP main of which are bad infrastructure and unemployment. But also there are some resources which can help to change situation (strong cultural communi-ty, beautiful derelict factories of 19 century, unused waterfront, untended historical center, green zones). I proposed to develop touristic potential of the town and use factories’ buildings as the cultur-al and tourist centers.

THE WAY OF THINKING

For my project I chose Kudrin factory located in the east of the town near Vohonka River. TheThe place has a big potential as a recreation zone. There is the river and green zone and also it placed not so far from the town center and the railway station. All the area including three former factories and some other historical buildings couldcould serve as one of the touristic zones in Pavlovsky Posad.I suggested to use factories' buildings for, hotel with conference hall and recreation infrastructure, museum, crafts center and exhibition hall.
