rutas más emblemáticas de nuestra mexicanidad, en un

viaje a través del infinito paisaje agavero, litros y litros de

nuestra bebida más icónica, y música de mariachi ilimitada.

La Ruta del Tequila es un recorrido para cualquier persona

que desee conocer la esencia del alma mexicana y debe

realizarse al menos una vez en la vida. El tren Tequila

Express sólo tiene salidas los fines de semana y hay que

estar en la estación a las 8:30 para cumplir con el registro,

por lo que te sugerimos que te quedes el viernes por la

noche en la Cuna del Mariachi: Tlaquepaque.

El Tequila Express / The Tequila Express

The Tequila Trail is a tour addressed to any person that wishes to get to know the essence of the Mexican soul, and should be done at least once in a lifetime. The Tequila Express Train only departs on weekends and you need to be in the train station at 8:30am, therefor we recommend you spend Friday night in Tlaquepaque: Home of the Mariachi.

On this Patriotic Month, you should satisfy your yearning of getting to know one of the most emblematic trails of our country. Take a trip through endless agave sceneries, with liters and liters of our iconic beverage, and unlimited mariachi music.

En Tlaquepaque, recorre el Andador Independencia, repleto

de galerías de arte, artesanías, restaurantes de todo tipo

y antiguas casonas coloniales. Visita El Parián, “La Cantina

más grande del mundo”, donde podrás elegir una de sus 19

cantinas con ambiente tradicional y familiar que rodean un

bello kiosco.

En El Parián disfrutarás todos los fines de semana de

espectáculos folclóricos y música de mariachi a la hora de

la comida, entre las 15:30 y 18:30, y en la cena, entre las

21:30 y las 23:30. También se puede solicitar el servicio

de un mariachi para amenizar nuestra estancia. Nosotros

comimos en Paco’s y todo estaba realmente delicioso.

Prueba el exquisito pozole y tómate una cazuela con tequila.

Para bajar la comida, recorre el Jardín Hidalgo, la

Presidencia Municipal, el Santuario de Nuestra Señora de

la Soledad y el Templo de San Pedro Apóstol. Descansa

en el bello hotel La Villa del Ensueño que se encuentra a

sólo unas cuadras del Centro de Tlaquepaque.

El sábado aborda el Tequila Express, la cita es en la

Antigua Estación de Tren de Guadalajara a las 8:30. Una

vez en el tren podrás disfrutar de música de mariachi en

vivo y del Tequila Herradura de manera ilimitada, pero

te recomendamos que lo consumas con medida pues lo

mejor está aún por venir.

El Tequila Express llega a Amatitán, donde se encuentra

la Hacienda San José del Refugio, hogar del Tequila

Herradura, destilería con una historia que inicia en

1870. Aquí descubrirás todo el proceso por el que debe

pasar un agave para convertirse en tequila, visitarás la

Antigua Fábrica, donde te maravillarás con los métodos

que se utilizaban en la antigüedad para elaborar nuestra

bebida nacional y, finalmente, degustarás platillos

típicos mexicanos y un espectáculo folclórico.

Get to know the Independence Corridor in Tlaque-paque, which is full of art galleries, crafts, all kinds of restaurants, and old colonial manor houses. Go to El Parián “The biggest canteen in the world”, here you can choose from over 19 canteens with traditional and family oriented atmospheres that surround a beauti-ful kiosk.

You can enjoy of folkloric spectacles and mariachi mu-sic at lunchtime in El Parián from 3:30 to 6:30pm, and at dinnertime from 9:30 to 11:30pm. You can request a mariachi band to come to your table and set the mood. We ate at Paco’s restaurant and everything was delicious. Try the exquisite pozole and drink tequila out of a cazuela.

After lunch, you should take a stroll through Hidalgo Garden and visit the Municipal Administration building, Our Lady of Solitude’s Sanctuary, and the Saint Peter Apostle Temple. Enjoy and take a rest at the La Villa del Ensueño hotel that is located just a few blocks from the Center of Tlaquepaque.

On Saturday morning you will board the Tequila Express Train, you have to meet at the Guadalajara Old Train Station at 8:30am. Once on the train, you can enjoy the mariachi music and unlimited Herradura Tequila; we rec-ommend you drink slowly for the best part is yet to come!

The Tequila Express Train arrives in Amatitán, where Haci-enda San José del Refugio is, home to Herradura Tequila, dating back to 1870. Here you will discover the whole pro-cess needed for an agave plant to turn into tequila, you will visit the Old Factory where you will be amazed by the ancient methods used to create our National bever-age, and finally, you will savor typical Mexican food and a folkloric spectacle.

Te recomendamos que en vez de regresar a Guadalajara en

el Tequila Express, tomes un taxi en la estación de Amatitán

que te lleve a Tequila, Pueblo Mágico y epicentro de esta

ruta, que está a sólo diez minutos de ahí. Hospédate en

el hermoso Hotel Los Abolengos, de fachada discreta pero

interiores espectaculares. Disfruta de su alberca, spa,

jacuzzi y amenidades de lujo. Por la noche, haz un recorrido

por Tequila, cena unas Crepas Agaveras en La Tetera, con

vista a la Plaza José Cuervo y Templo de Santiago Apóstol.

También visita La Cofradía, un lugar con mucho encanto.

Para el domingo sugerimos el recorrido “El Jimador en los

Campos de Agave”, de Mundo Cuervo, que te llevará al

corazón del paisaje agavero, Patrimonio de la Humanidad

desde el 2006, y te sorprenderás ante la habilidad de

don Ismael, un jimador experto. Después, recorrerás la

Hacienda La Rojeña de José Cuervo, fundada en 1795. Este

tour también puede realizarse en el José Cuervo Express.

Frente a La Rojeña, come en Fonda Cholula y no te pierdas

la especialidad de la casa: Filete Todos Santos, bañado en

salsa de agave, una delicia que no podrás probar en ningún

otro sitio.

We recommend you don’t go back to Guadalajara aboard the Tequila Express, but instead take a taxi to Tequila, a magical town and epicenter of this route that is only ten minutes away. Spend the night at the beautiful Los Abolengos Hotel, which has a modest façade but spec-tacular interiors. Enjoy their pool, spa, jacuzzi, and first class amenities. Walk around the town by night, have some Agave Crepes at La Tetera restaurant, overlooking the José Cuervo Plaza and the Santiago Apostle Temple. Also take some time to visit La Cofradía, it is a charming place.

We suggest you take the tour of “The Jimador in the Agave Fields”, presented by Mundo Cuervo. It will take you to the heart of the agave landscape, which is Heritage of Human-ity since 2006. You will be amazed by the skills of the ex-pert Jimador, don Ismael. Afterwards, you tour the La Ro-jeña Hacienda of José Cuervo, founded in 1795. This tour can also be done aboard the José Cuervo Express. Have lunch in front of La Rojeña in Fonda Cholula and don’t miss out on the house specialty: Filete Todos Santos, drenched in agave sauce; it is a delicacy you will not be able to taste anywhere else.

Con la tarde por delante, sigue gozando de Tequila: visita el

Museo Nacional del Tequila y el de los Abuelos de la Familia

Sauza. Después toma el recorrido en tranvía que te llevará

a las fábricas más icónicas de este destino. Termina tu viaje

respirando el aroma del agave tostado que impregna cada

calle de este emblemático lugar.

Si te interesa recorrer los ocho municipios que conforman

la Ruta del Tequila, una excelente opción es México Tequila

Tours, operadora que te lleva a cada uno de ellos, reserva al

menos con una semana de anticipación. En estos poblados

podrás seguir disfrutando del paisaje agavero, bellas

haciendas tequileras, ciudades coloniales y atractivos

únicos en su tipo como las minas de ópalo y obsidiana en

Magadalena, o la zona arqueológica de Los Guachimontones

en Teuchitlán.

With the afternoon still ahead of you, keep enjoying tequila and visit the National Tequila Museum and the Sauza Family Grandparent’s museum as well. After the museums, take the tram that will take you to the most iconic factories of the area. End your day by walking the streets and enjoying the aroma of toasted agave that impregnates this emblematic place.

Along these towns, you will be able to keep enjoying the agave scenery, beautiful tequila-making haciendas, colonial cities, and unique nearby attractions such as the opal and obsidian mines in Magdalena, and the archeological site called Los Guachimontones located in Teuchitlán.
