10 things to celebrate of 2012

1.ACLA celebro el 10mo del Latin Music Festival como parte del Bicentenario de Louisiana.

2.Un museo en Lafayette (Jean LaFitte) del Federal National Parks Service,

mantuvo una exhibición de Cultura Hispana por dos meces, cual incluyo piezas de TODOS los países Lati-no-Americanos.

3.La comunidad se unió, excedi-endo las expectativas del United

Blood Servce, donando sangre durante el Latin Music Festival y solidificando la necesidad de ellos invertir más en servir Latino-Acadiana.

4.New Iberia se unió a los esfuerzos de ACLA por la Cultura y Herencia Hispana, comenzando ellos su primer “Festival Es-

pañol de Nueva Iberia” y Latinos de otras áreas cercanas buscan ayuda de ACLA para también celebrar nuestra Herencia y Cultu-ra.

5.Apreciando 4 años de apoyo, el sistema de escuelas públi-cas (LPSS) empezó a trabajar con ACLA para expandir el pro-

grama de Inmersión al Español.

6.Otra organización Latina, el “Proyecto Hispano de ayuda a la Comunidad” también tuvo gran éxito y crecimiento en el 2012.

7.ACLA trajo artistas locales Latinos al Art Walk, este verano en Downtown Lafayette.

8.ACLA represento los interés de la población Hispana luchan-do por los fondos estatales para el arte y la educación durante

el “Cultural Connection Advocacy” en Baton Rouge.

9.Exitosamente ACLA continua motivando latinos a ser voluntarios y subscribir

niños con Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana

10.ACLA hora trabaja con el New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Founda-tion para mejorar y expander los eventos de valor Cultural Hispano en el área.

5.Appreciating our aid and support of 4 years, the Louisiana Public Schools System has began working with ACLA, on its

expansion of the Spanish Immersion Program.

6.Another Latino organization in “Projecto Hispano de Ayuda a la Communidad” has also experienced great growth and success

in 2012.

7.ACLA brought local Latino artists to Art Walk, during the sum-mer in Downtown Lafayette.

8.ACLA Lobbied for “Arts and Education” during the Cultural Connection Advocacy in Baton Rouge, successfully bringing

attention to the Hispanic population and our interests.

9.ACLA successfully continues to bring to participate with Big Brothers Big

Sisters of Acadiana as volunteers and subscribing children.

Celebrar la Navidad en LouisianaCelebrate Christmas in Louisiana

En Louisiana son muchos los difer-entes eventos navideños que nos dan para disfrutar y compartir en

familia durante toda esta época de-cembrina. A continuación te daremos algunos lugares para que visites en familia y logres pasar y disfrutar estas

navidades alegremente.

En el norte de Louisiana, por ejemplo, disfrutar de la Navidad en el río cada fin de semana en West Monroe y Monroe, este año, las ciudades geme-

las planifican unirse al Camino de la Luz vacaciones en Louisiana, una asociación de ocho ciudades con des-files, fiestas, fuegos artificiales y mucho más.

Por otra parte, un alegre evento imperdible en el centro de Louisiana, que también está en el Camino Holiday of Lights, es el anual Festival de

las Luces de Navidad en Natchitoches, te encantará la magia de navegar por una calle pintoresca e históri-ca en medio de la preciosa decoración y un ambiente encantador a lo largo del río Cane.

Entre otras de los lugares que hay para visitar y Disfrutar de una Navidad criolla y cajún es en La-fayette con visitas en casa, desfiles y una pantalla

de luz muy especial en el Acadian Village.

Finalmente Nueva Orleans, es especialmente mági-co en esta época del año, y los visitantes y lug-areños por igual deben estar seguros de disfrutar

de la Fiesta en el Oaks Park, Así que no te quedes en casa y disfruta de las diferentes actividades que en nuestro estado hay para ti.

In Louisiana there are many different Christmas events that give us to enjoy and share with family throughout the holiday season. These are some

places to visit with family and enjoy this Christmas getting to know the region.

In northern Louisiana enjoy Christmas in the river every weekend in Monroe-West Monroe. This year, the Twin Cities plan to join the Holiday Louisiana

Trail of Lights, an association of eight cities with pa-rades, parties, fireworks and more.

Moreover, a cheerful event in central Loui-siana, which is also in the Way Holiday of Lights, is the annual Festival of Lights in

Natchitoches Christmas. You’ll love the magic of nav-igating a picturesque and historic street in the middle of the beautiful decor and a lovely atmosphere along the Cane River.

Among other places there are to visit and enjoy a Creole and Cajun Christmas is in Lafay-

ette with home visits, parades and a special light display in the Acadian Village

Finally, New Orleans is especially magical at this time of year, and visitors and locals alike should be

sure to enjoy the Party at Oaks Park, So do not you stay home and enjoy the different activities in our state offers for you.

Muchísimas personas, en aquel tiempo estaban asustadas y se lanzaron a las calles pidiéndoles a los bancos que les dieran oportunidad de refinanciar y es así como surge NACA. Pos-teriormente NACA se une con Bank of América para no solo ayudar a las personas que estaban necesitando refinanciar sus casas para no perderlas, sino también para proporcionar prestamos bancarios a las personas que por cualquier motivo no podían obtener sus casas por tener problemas con crédito, o razones varias:

On those days people were afraid to lose their homes so they went to the streets protesting and asking the banks to give them the opportunity to refinance their homes and that is how NACA was born. After all this happens, NACA joined with Bank of America not only to help all these people not to lose their homes but also to lend money to people who wanted to get their homes and they couldn’t because of bad credit or otherwise:

Nacida en Puebla México, 16 años. Esta joven talentosa ha participado en varios concursos de canto y ha sido ganadora de casi todos ellos. Recientemente fue gana-

dora en la competencia de canto, organizada por Espacio Latino 88.3 FM radio en nuestra ciudad.Pero… ¿cómo empezó todo? Fernanda nos contó que su amor por la música comenzó a la temprana edad de 10 años, su inspiración le llegó de su abuelito, quien cantaba en la Iglesia y la animó a que cantara por primera vez. Su primera canción la inter-pretó en la Iglesia y aunque su voz estaba temblorosa y se moría de nervios; en ese mismo momento comprendió que cantar era lo que quería hacer por el resto de su vida. Desde ese día, su mamá, familia y amigos han trabajado mucho y la han apoyado en esta carrera. Fernanda ha grabado 5 canciones y hasta su propio video en youtube llamado “Rompiste mi corazón (YOU BROKE MY HEART).” Actualmente está trabajando en su primer álbum y comento: “No podría haber hecho todo esto sin Dios y el apoyo de mi familia y amigos que me empujan, me animan y siempre están ahí para animarme.” Aunque Dios la ha bendecido con personas que la apoyan, existen quienes han intentado dañar su carrera a través de acoso (bullying). Ella nos Compartió que a través de su música quiere ser la voz para aquellos que no la tienen y luchar contra el acoso o intimidación en las escuelas.

Por ultimo, nos compartió, que sus metas son graduarse de High School y luego competir

en American Idol; ella quiere ser la primera Latina en ganar esta compe-tencia. Fernanda es un honor para nuestra comunidad, no sólo por su talento, sino porque ha roto varias barreras a su corta edad y es un ejemplo el cual indica que no im-porta que edad tengas, si tienes un Sueño y Perseveras, todo es POSIBLE.

A Mexican native from Puebla,

age 16, this talented Teen has been in various singing com-petitions and won almost all of them. She recently won a singing competition hosted by Espacio Latino 88.3 fm Radio in our city. But how did this all begin? Fernanda shared that her love for music began at the very young age of 10, she started with her grandfather who sang at church and he inspired her as well as encouraged her to try it for the first time. Her first song was sung at church and even though her voice was shaky and she was ner-vous, at that moment she knew that singing was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. From that day on, her Mom and all her family and friends have worked hard and supported her in her career. Fernanda has recorded 5 songs and even has her own video on youtube called “Rompiste mi corazón (You Broke My Heart).” She is currently working on her first album and she told la Voz “I could have never done any of this with-out God and the support of my family and friends. They push me, encourage me and are always there to cheer me on.” Although, God has blessed her with loving people, she has also encountered those whom have tried to destroy her career through their bullying. She shared with us that through her music she wants to speak up for those that have no voice and fight against bullying in schools.

She shared that her goals are to graduate high school and then try out for American idol; she wants to be the first Latina to win this competition. Fernanda is an honor to our

community, not only for her talent but because she has broken various barriers as such a young age and serves as an example that it doesn’t matter how old you are, if you have a DREAM and PERSEVERE everything is POSSIBLE.

La depresión es una enfermedad del alma (afecta los pensamientos y sentimientos). También trae un desbalance químico en el cerebro, y definitivamente afecta nuestro espíritu.¿Por qué estoy desanimado?¿Por qué está tan triste mi

corazón?¡Pondré mi esperanza en

Dios! Nuevamente lo alabaré,

Si estas deprimido(a) necesitas ayuda. Debes buscarla inmedi-atamente.

Tu primera ayuda viene de Dios. Pero a veces nuestro pre-concepto de Dios no nos permite acercarnos

y desarrollar una relación con El. Busca ayuda de un consejero que te pueda ayudar basado en el consejo bíblico. Deberás recibir oración, consejo y pasos específicos a dar para poder salir de este estado. Si es cierto que la depresión es un espíritu que debe salir, pero tu alma también

necesita sanidad y tu mente necesita aprender patrones de pensamiento llenos de fe.

Busca una actividad que te genere una ilusión. Trázate metas, para que puedas trabajar

hacia ellas. Nunca es tarde para estudiar, hacer nuevas amistades, encontrar un hobby nuevo. La fe que viene de confiar en Dios hace palide-cer las circunstancias presentes. (Isaías 43.19)

Desarrolla una actitud de grati-tud. Si las cosas no son como deseáramos, pero todos hemos

recibido alguna bendición por lo que estar agradecidos. Aun el tener vida.

Desarrolla un tiempo de oración y meditación en la Palabra a diario. Si te dedicas un poco de

tiempo por las mañanas a enfocarte en tu Creador y en lo que El dice de ti, podrás enfrentar tu día exitosa-mente.

H a y m u c h a s cosas que p u e d e s h a c e r , pero lo m a s i m p o r -tante es no qued-a r t e c o m o estas. Se p u e d e v i v i r libre de la depresión en el Nombre de Jesucristo, pues El conquisto nuestras enfermedades y por sus llagas somos sanos y libres!

Depression is a sickness of the soul (affects thoughts and feelings). It also brings a chemical imbalance in the brain and definitely affects our spirit.

I will put my hope in God!I will praise him again—my Savior and my God!

If you are depressed, you need help. Seek it immediately.

Your first help comes from God. But sometimes our preconceived concept of God prevents us from

drawing near to Him and developing a close relationship with Him. Seek counsel from someone who can give it to you based on the Biblical coun-sel. You should receive prayer, coun-sel and specific steps to be able to exit this state. It is true that depres-sion is a spirit that must be cast our, but your soul also needs healing and your mind needs to learn thought patterns that are filled with faith.

Seek an activity that brings back hope. Set goals so you can work towards them. It is never too late

to study, make new friends, find a hobby. Faith that comes from trust-ing God makes circumstances pale.

Develop an attitude of gratitude. Even if things are not how we wish they were, but everyone has

received a blessing that they can be grateful for. Even being alive.

Develop a time of prayer and meditation on the word of God. If you dedicate a bit of time in the

mornings to your creator and what he says about you, you will be able to face your day successfully.

There are many things you can do but whatever you do, do not remain as you are. You can live free from depression in the Name of Jesus Christ, because he conquered our sicknesses and through His stripes were are healed and delivered.

Conoce mejor los secretos para cuidar tu cabello y que lu-zca radiante y sano.

¿CADA CUANDO DEBES DE CORTAR TU CABELLO?No debes dejar pasar demasiado tiempo entre corte y corte, porque produce el envejecimiento del pelo (se aclaran las puntas) o se abren. Un corte corto debe ser retocado aproximadamente a los 20 días para mantener su forma, un corte medio más o menos al mes, y en cabello largo entre dos a cuatro meses.

¿COMO DEBES LABAR TÚ CABELLO? Lavado: Debes lavar al día por medio, como máximo; así no pierde su grasa natural, a excepción del cabello graso se puede lavar todos días.Procura usar agua tibia a fría, nunca caliente (el cuero cabelludo inmediatamente produce grasa, la cutícula del cabello se abre y da el aspecto seco).La cantidad de shampoo debe ser mínima, debes masajear el cuero cabelludo con firmeza (con las yemas de los dedos), enjua-ga y repite el procedimiento, y masajea más suave, si el cabello está muy sucio, puedes realizar un tercer lavado. Enjuague/Acondicionador: Facilita el desenredado y peinado, enjuágalo completamente, pues causa más peso, y se ensucia con más facilidad no dejando al cabello cumplir sus funciones básicas. En el cabello corto no es necesario utilizar enjuague.

¿Qué tenemos que tener en cuenta a la hora de elegir el champú más adecuado para nuestro pelo? Es fun-damental acudir a tu peluquero y que haga un diagnóstico, evaluando el estado de tu cabello y cuero cabelludo; así te recomendara el más adecuado para ti y cuándo es conveniente cambiar.Peinados Planchado/Alisado: Para alisarte o plancharte tu cabello, es recomendable utilizar un protector térmico antes de realizarlo y un reparador de puntas al finalizar, además de algún tratamiento nutritivo la siguiente vez que se lave el cabello.

El trabajo de la organización contempla 6 esferas de la vida de nuestra ciudad: La Social, La Económica, La Educación, La Cultural, La Salud, el Deporte y la ecreación.

Para poder desarrollar y llevar adelante todos estos proyectos, ha sido mucho el trabajo realizado, muchas las horas que se le han quitado al cuidado de nuestras propias familias y sobre todo muchos obstáculos que han tenido que ser sorteados.

Disculpas le pedimos a quienes no ven en nuestros sueños los suyos propios. A quienes creen que nuestros sueños están equivocados y a quienes no desean compartir sus sueños y ambiciones con la comuni-dad. A este grupo de personas le invitamos a que se nos acerquen, a que nos pregunten y a que vean en nuestros sueños, el suyo propio.

Nuestra Organización social se ha convertido en el ROSTRO de la COMUNIDAD. Y el programa radial "ESPACIO LATINO", que hemos creado para: INFORMAR, EDUCAR y ENTRETENER, se ha convertido en su VOZ.
