A LEDWAVEJuan Galey fundó OMBU a comienzos de 1975 cuando empezó a comercializar en España linternas y baterías de las marcas europeas más prestigiosas. Su hijo, Arnaud Galey buen conocedor de las nuevas tecnologías de iluminación gracias a sus estudios y a la larga experiencia de su padre con linternas y baterías, pidió consejo a muchos militares y cazadores veteranos e inició su propia labor de desarrollo. Atento a los avances tecnológicos del sector, supo aprovechar la gran oportunidad que ofrecía un nuevo tipo de iluminación: los diodos emisores de luz (LED) y las microlámparas de alta presión de xenón comercializadas en todo el mundo por la marca Ledwave.

OMBU desarrolla productos que incorporan tecnologías y procesos de fabricación innovadores, productos que verdaderamente captan la atención de la gente. Founder, Juan Galey, founded OMBU in early 1975 when he started to represent in Spain the most prestigious European flashlight brands and batteries. LEDWAVE flashlights are instruments of great technical precision.They are designed and manufactured to suit the strict requirements of the world’s armies, law enforcement and professional user. Manufactured in CNC machined 6063-T alumi-nium. This type of aluminium is used both by the army and aeronautic industry and is also coated in an IIb-type anodised layer. Our flashlights have been tested and certified in accordance with the MIL-STD-461E and MIL-STD-810F standards.LEDWAVE flashlights are tough and precise, wha-tever the operating conditions.

All LEDWAVE flashlight bulbs are protected by a tempered glass lens. The advantage of this mate-rial over polycarbonate is its greater resistance to the high temperatures produced after prolonged use and impacts. LEDWAVE flashlights are also weatherproof as they come with high-performance O-ring seals. Whatever the weather conditions, you may use your LEDWAVE flashlight without worrying about

changes in its accurate performance. Our flashlights incorporate top performance

Las linternas LEDWAVE son instrumentos de gran precisión técnica.Están diseñadas y fabricadas para dar respuesta a las estrictas exigencias de los ejércitos de todo el mundo, que representan una parte importante de nuestra cartera de clientes. Las carcasas están fabricadas en aluminio 6063-T mecanizado mediante CNC. Este tipo de aluminio lo utiliza tanto el ejército como la industria aero-náutica y está recubierto además por una capa de anodizado de tipo IIb. Nuestras linternas han sido probadas y certificadas conforme a las normas MIL-STD-461E y MIL-STD-810F.Las linternas LEDWAVE son resistentes y precisas sean cuales sean las condiciones de trabajo.

Todas las bombillas de las linternas LEDWAVE están protegidas por una lente de vidrio templa-do. La ventaja de este material frente al policar-bonato es que posee una mayor resistencia a las altas temperaturas que se producen después de un uso prolongado. FOCUS OR PREFOCUS?

LEDWAVE flashlights are equipped with a prefocusing system. The flashlight reflector has been designed by CAO to shed maximum light on the target. It yields a point of maximum intensity in the centre of the light beam and a very broad corona to guarantee maxi-mum possible light diffusion.On manual focus flashlights either a maximum focus point or a wide corona can be chosen. The number of lumens of a flashlight is solely a par-tial indicator of its performance, as this only gives an idea of the light amount obtained at a specific point. What really needs to be taken into account is both the light intensity of the whole light beam focused on a target, and the flashlight’s reach.

¿ENFOQUE O PREENFOQUE?

Las linternas LEDWAVE están equipadas con un sistema de preenfoque. El reflector que incorporan ha sido diseñado por CAO con el fin de ofrecer la máxima luminosidad sobre el objetivo. Produce un punto de intensidad máxima en el centro del haz de luz y una corona muy amplia para garantizar la mayor difusión posible de la luz.En las linternas con enfoque manual hay que elegir entre disponer de un punto de máximo enfoque o de una corona amplia. El número de lúmenes de una linterna es tan sólo un indicador parcial de su rendimiento, ya que únicamen-te nos da idea de la intensidad de luz que se obtiene en un punto determinado. Lo que de verdad hay que tener en cuenta es la inten-sidad de luz de todo el haz enfocado sobre un objetivo así como el alcance de la linterna.

When choosing a flashlight, the first thing to consider is its bulb type.For standard use and lighting up to a distance of 100 metres, LED is the best choice as it lasts virtually forever and consumes very little energy. Second generation LEDs are used by LEDWAVE and provides bright white light with such a high quality unrivalled on the market.XENON, a technology that also features great advantages and a reach of up to 250 metres, is available in our high-performance flashlights. Higher energy consumption is compensated by the use of rechargeable batteries or of the new system of lithium ion batteries that LEDWAVE has incorporated in some of its models.If you require even greater illumination, we can supply HID technology in a compact flashlight that generates pure white light and has a useful span life exceeding that of xenon. This bulb types takes a few seconds before reaching its maximum light intensity.

A la hora de elegir una linterna, lo primero que hay que tener en cuenta es el tipo de bombilla que lleva.Para un uso estándar y para iluminar hasta una distancia de 100 metros, el LED es la mejor elección ya que su duración es casi ilimitada y consume muy poca energía. Se trata de la segunda generación de LED que utiliza LEDWAVE y proporciona una luz blanca y luminosa de una calidad tan elevada que no existe ninguna comparable en el mercado.La tecnología XENÓN tiene también grandes ventajas, ya que ofrece un alcance de hasta 250 metros, disponible en nuestras linternas de altas prestaciones. LOS COLORES DELA LUZ Y SUS VENTAJAS

Una de las “especialidades” de LEDWAVE son las linternas de LED de diferentes colores, pensando en sus distintos usos y aplicaciones por parte de las fuerzas armadas de todo el mundo.La principal ventaja de utilizar LED de color en lugar de aplicar un filtro de color en una linterna de luz blanca es que no se pierde intensidad por culpa del filtro, pérdida que puede llegar a ser de hasta el 70%. Con los LED de color se conserva toda la potencia de la luz y, además, con el color que se desee. La luz verde del modelo Wildfinder cumple varias funciones. Mejora la visión nocturna, es invisible para los animales y ayuda a intensificar el contraste. El color azul del modelo Tracking Light TL-1 intensifica el contraste de la sangre. Gracias a una longitud de onda muy precisa, las manchas de sangre resaltan al parecer casi negras, mientras que el resto de las cosas aparecen en diferentes tonalidades de gris. Esto ayuda al cazador a saber dónde ha herido al animal o a los profesionales forenses a buscar restos de sangre u otros fluidos y rastros corporales. La luz roja del modelo Wildfinder II mejora la visión nocturna del ojo humano y no llama tanto la atención de los animales. Por eso, es muy útil para rastrear la caza durante la noche.

LIGHT COLOURSAND THEIR ADVANTAGES

One of the “specialities” of LEDWAVE are the flashlights with different coloured LEDs, which are designed to suit the different uses and applications of armed forces worldwide.The main benefit of colour LEDs over and above colour filters applied on a white light flashlight is that intensity is not lost through the use of a filter; a loss that can reach up to 70%. With colour LEDs all the light power is preserved while using the colour required. The green light of the Wildfinder model performs several functions. It enhances night vision, is invisible to animals, and helps intensify contrast. The blue colour of the Tracking Light TL-1 model intensifies blood contrast. Since it has a very long and precise wavelength, bloodstains appear virtually black, while other items appear in different tones of grey. This helps hunters to know the place where an animal has been wounded, or professional forensic scientists to identify the remains of blood or other body fluids and traces. The red light of the Wildfinder II enhances the night vision of the human eye and attracts less attention from animals. It is therefore very useful for tracking game at night.


What is a (Lm) Lumen? A lumen is a unit of standard measurement used to describe how much light is contained in a certain area.

What is a (Cd) candela?A candela is a measurement of the intensity of light, used in the International Standard (SI) measurement system.Both are very simple definitions on complex measurement units, but at Ledwave our will is to make understand our customers and flashlight enthusiast with very basic facts why Candelas and why Lumens.The most concern of all users is to know what is the real reach of the flashlight or how far the flashlight they carry in their hands can illuminate targets in darkness, we at Ledwave we can give the exact answer of that by using candelas as a unit because it’s the unit that can provide the luminous intensity which is the only “real” way to know what is the reach that a flashlight can carry out.At Ledwave we provide exact readings over all our program of flashlights for users know the exact candela rating with the correspondent reach of each Ledwave flashlight according to Photometric and Gonophotometric official certified labs (ENAC) of the technical university of Barcelona (Spain).

Why other flashlight manufacturers advertise measurements in Lumens but not candelas?There might be many reasons for it, but the main is that surprisingly most of flashlight manufacturers don’t even know how to measure the flashlight light output from the flashlights they manufacture and they advertise the reach of the flashlight with the output of light contained in a certain area (lumens), by naked eye and with wrong measurement unit to know the reach.Many others just lie or invent measurements to sell more flashlights and confuse all users.At Ledwave we only provide the real measurement of every model manufactured with official government certifications and international certified standards provided by our labs in the University of Barcelona.

Tests were made with brand new Lithium batteries and after stabilisation of light intensity (15 minutes after connexion).This means that tests were made in real conditions of use and for you the insurance to have same results with your LEDWAVE flashlight. The reaches of the flashlights have been measured with a minimal light of 0.5 lux following American norms IBC (International Building Code) in ICC norm (International Code Council) and the European norm EN 1838.

¿QUÉ ES LATECNOLOGÍA LED?

Las linternas LEDWAVE se fabrican pensando en las necesi-dades de las fuerzas armadas y los cuerpos y el personal de seguridad. Así pues, la calidad de los materiales utilizados en su fabricación es extremadamente importante.OMBU está siempre investigando para incorporar en sus pro-ductos la tecnología LED ((Light Emitting Diod) más avanza-da. A diferencia de las lámparas incandescentes tradicionales, los diodos LED son dispositivos de estado sólido: la luz se genera a escala molecular, y no por medio de un filamento. Por esta razón los LED poseen tres grandes ventajas frente a las lámparas incandescentes convencionales:

Eficiencia energética: una lámpara incandescente emite luz a través de un filamento que se calienta por medio de la co-rriente eléctrica. Para que dicho filamento se caliente, se con-sume una gran cantidad de energía que no se libera en forma de luz sino en forma de calor (por eso una bombilla normal se calienta cuando está encendida). Al no tener filamentos que calentar, los LED no malgastan energía y por eso son entre 15 y 20 veces más eficientes que las lámparas incandescentes.

Larga vida útil: la parte del LED que emite luz tiene una vida útil de aproximadamente 100.000 horas. En cambio la dura-ción de una lámpara incandescente normal no suele llegar a las 40 horas.

Resistencia mecánica: los componentes de los LED están recubiertos por resina epoxídica de calidad óptica, un mate-rial prácticamente indestructible. No hay piezas de vidrio ni filamentos que puedan romperse, de manera que los LED son perfectos para entornos hostiles y temperaturas extremas. En el caso de las lámparas incandescentes, el filamento y la ampolla de vidrio son extremadamente frágiles y pueden romperse al menor golpe.

WHAT IS LED TECHNOLOGY?

LEDWAVE flashlights are manufactured to meet the needs of the armed forces and of security corps and personnel. The quality of the materials used to manufacture them is therefo-re extremely important.OMBU performs constant research in order to incorporate the latest LED technology (Light Emitting Diode) in its products. Unlike traditional incandescent lights, LEDs are solid-state devices: light is generated on a molecular scale and not through the use of a filament. LEDs therefore have three great advantages over conventional incandescent lights:

Energy efficiency: an incandescent lamp emits light by means of a filament heated by an electrical current. Heating this fila-ment requires the consumption of a large quantity of energy, which is released not as light, but as heat (a normal bulb the-refore heats up when it is on). LEDs have no filaments to heat and thus do not waste energy. They are therefore between 15 and 20 times more efficient than incandescent lamps.

Long useful life: the part of the LED that emits light has a useful life of approximately 100,000 hours whereas the life of a normal incandescent lamp does not usually exceed 40 hours.

Mechanical resistance: LED components are coated with optical quality epoxy resin, which is a practically indestruc-tible material. There are neither glass parts nor breakable filaments. LEDs are therefore perfect for hostile environments and extreme temperatures. In an incandescent lamp on the other hand, the filament and the glass bulb are extremely fragile and can break at the slightest impact.

¿QUÉ ES LATECNOLOGÍA HID?¿CÓMO FUNCIONA?HID (High Discharge Intensity) es una tecnología que sus-tituye el tradicional filamento de wolframio de las bombi-llas halógenas por una cápsula sellada con gas xenón.

La tecnología empleada en las lámparas de descarga de alta intensidad se asemeja a la tecnología fluores-cente. En el caso de la tecnología HID, sin embargo, una combinación de factores hace que la longitud de onda de gran parte de esta energía se encuentre den-tro del intervalo visible, con lo que la luz se produce sin necesidad de fósforos. Asimismo, los electrodos solo están separados unos pocos centímetros y los gases del interior del tubo están a una presión muy elevada. De este modo el arco puede generar tempera-turas extremadamente altas, con lo que los elementos metálicos que flotan en el interior se vaporizan y liberan grandes cantidades de energía radiante visible. Existen tres tipos básicos de lámparas HID: de vapor de mercurio, de haluro metálico y de sodio.

Igual que cualquier fuente de luz por descarga ga-seosa, las lámparas HID están sujetas a una serie de requisitos eléctricos especiales que exigen el empleo de una reactancia.Las lámparas HID requieren un período de calenta-miento para conseguir una potencia luminosa máxi-ma. Cualquier interrupción del suministro eléctrico, por breve que sea, hace que el sistema se recebe y ten-ga que volver a calentarse, lo que puede tardar varios minutos. La convierte en la elección perfecta para las aplicaciones que precisan un alto nivel de seguridad.

WHAT ISHID TECHNOLOGY?HOW DOES HID WORK?

HID (High Intensity Discharge) is a technology that substitutes the traditional wolfram filament in halo-gen bulbs with a sealed capsule of xenon gas.

The technology in high intensity discharge lighting is in some ways similar to fluorescent technology: an arc is established between two electrodes in a gas-filled tube which causes a metallic vapour to produce ra-diant energy. However, in the case of HID technology, a combination of factors shifts the wavelength of much of this energy to within the visible range, so light is produced without the need for phosphors. In addition, the electrodes are only a few centimetres apart (at opposite ends of a sealed “arc tube”) and the gases in the tube are highly pressurized. This allows the arc to generate extremely high temperatures, causing metallic elements floating inside the bulb to vaporize and release large amounts of visible radiant energy. There are three main types of HID lamps: mercury va-pour, metal halide and sodium. The names refer to the elements that are added to the gases in the arc stream which cause each type to have somewhat different color characteristics and overall lamp efficiency.

Like any gaseous discharge light source, HID lamps have a number of specific electrical requirements that must be supplied by a ballast. HID lamps require a warm-up period to achieve full light output. HID lamps are an ideal choice for applications where safe-ty is a concern.

Se pueden utilizar nuestras linternas con toda seguridad y adaptar a las armas.

EMC: MIL-STD-461-EEsta norma nos permite verificar la resistencia de la linterna en diferentes frecuencias y medir las emisiones de esta.

MIL-STD-810D: 86 Se han realizado los ensayos siguientes

501.2: La linterna se ubica en una camara a una temperatura de +80ºC durante una hora. Finalizado el ensayo la linterna supera la prueba satisfactoriamente.

502.2: La linterna se ubica en una camara a una temperatura de -20ºC durante 6 horas. Finalizado el ensayo la linterna supera la prueba satisfactoriamente.

503.2: La linterna se ubica en una camara a una temperatura de -20ºC durante una hora y se pasa en menos de 5 minutos a una temperatura de +80ºC. Finalizado el ensayo la linterna supera la prueba satisfactoriamente.

512.2: La linterna se sumerge en el agua a temperatura ambiente durante 2 horas a una profundidad de 1 m. Finalizado el ensayo la linterna supera la prueba satisfactoriamente.

MIL-STD-810FSe somete la linterna a vibraciones en 3 ejes durante 1 hora en cada uno de ellos. La linterna resiste perfectamente sin daños exteriores, ni de funcionamiento.
