with this LEF a dreamwill true for us, which rst ap-peared when we thanks to lotof random occassions, rst tookpart at LEF in 2004 in Finland.Tams Szabados and me spentthe greatest week of our livesin Saariselka. On theway backhome we started to fantasize how it wouldfeel to organize a LEF once inHungary, butat theendwe came to the result thatunfor-tunately it wont happen in the next 25 years.And howincredible life is... Just one yearla-ter at LEF2005 during a lunch we started aconversation with some Austrian LEOs andaccidently the idea of a common LEF wasborn. Hello to all LEF newies, veteransand heroes!

As time goes by A few more months/weeks/days (depending on when you read these lines) and LEO EUROPA FORUM 2010 willproceed in the beautiful city of Sopron in Hungary near the Austrian border. We did and still do our best to ensurethat this will be one of the best LEFs in LEO history. On the following pages you will nd out what we are planningto offer you as a program.

Some words to the new participantsEvery LEO started to join a LEO EUROPA FORUM at some point. You will do that in August 2010. Be prepared for awhole week of LEO spirit and some sightseeing and get in touch with Austrian and Hungarian hospitality, cultureand history. This ELIC (European LEO Information Centre) should be a guideline for the Forum, a small guide on

what to expect and what to bring. The program is wide spread and should help you to improve your LEO skills(Leadership, Experience, Opportunity) and to build international friendship with LEOs all over the world. Have agreat time, enjoy being a LEO (not only on the Forum) and bring new thoughts, experience and ideas the otherparticipants can learn from. We will be happy to get to know you in August 2010. It will be a pleasure to welcomeyou at our LEO EUROPA FORUM 2010 in Austria and Hungary.

Some word to the LEF experienced LEOs.All of you who already got in contact with the LEO EUROPA FORUM 2010 have a rst impression what this LEF willstand for: Back to the roots of LEOnism as well as having a really great time living the LEO spirit together for awhole week. We learned from the former LEF orga teams, we got inspired by you and your ideas how to organizea great LEF. The result will be seen in August 2010, but you can already get some good impressions of the upco-ming Forum in this ELIC. Some program points have changed, some are still the same and some are new all ofthem together dene LEF 2010. We promised to organize a different LEO EUROPA FORUM and as you can see we

LEF 2010: What is good to know in advance? Why are things the way they are?

There are no kangaroos in Austria (shame on the guy who had the idea for this stupid t-shirt) and being hungry isnot every days problem in Hungary.

To Austria:

Some program parts will take place in Austria. If by any chance you did not have the great opportunity yet topay shamelessly high prices in ski resorts, you did not watch The Sound Of Music or Sissi I Sissi III, here is the ulti-mate crash course for the land where the Red Guys came from.First of all, you will be surprised that it is not tradition to color your face red. Silly hats on the other hand are traditi-onal, but nobody wears them (except some old gentlemen driving VW Golf I). Austria is famous for One-Hit-Won-ders (Opus, DJ tzi, Falco), geniuses who died before their time (Mozart), Frosch, bad football teams and wintersports. Except the winter part you should get a good impression during August 2010. Dont be scared, enjoy it!

To Hungary:

Most of the time we spend in Hungary. The cultural differences to Austria? Many but not too many. Everybodywho has already visited this country knows that Hungary is famous for the Red Bull Air Race, moustaches (the LEForga team lost a bet so they had to shave), spicy cuisine and the Hungarian wine.As is the case with Austria, you will nd exactly one guy whose face is colored green. You will nd this Green Guy

in his natural environment (every single party he is invited at) and Hungarians sure know how to party! That iswhat history tells the world about this country. Furthermore, Hungary has no mountains at all. When an Austrianscan cover a distance by ski, the typical Hungarian has at least a stable of horses for it.

Where will the Forum take place?

Well there is no discussion about that it would be less stress to join a LEF that takes place directly at Vienna Inter-national Airport or at Budapest Airport. But we would like to show you a bit of Austria and Hungary. We decidedfor the city of Sopron in Hungary near the Austrian border. Here are the reasons.

Sopron

The city is a really lovely place with a historic city center, a famous university including a lot of students pubs andit is situated in a wine-growing region near the Lake Neusiedl. The city is big but not too big for a LEO EUROPAFORUM and after a few minutes of driving you are at the beaches of the lake or in the middle of nowhere. Sopronis inuenced by Austrian and Hungarian history and culture, both languages are ofcial and since centuries it was

a place which guaranteed one essential promise: Uniting People. So we will in August 2010.

Hotel Fagus

From LEOs who have already participated on a few LEFs you can take it serious: This hotel rocks!!! Fagus is loca-ted in the middle of a forest, it has its own big park, a spa area and a highly competent and well talented Chefde Cuisine. We will have our own indoor and outdoor party area, most of the rooms have a separate balconyand the prices are LEO-friendly too. So let this LEF paradise be ours!

Thats the serious part of this LEF. Following the LEO spirit we give childrenin need in Romania a wonderful Christmas Eve. Maybe one of the biggestworldwide LEO activities carried out by LEOs from all over the world.

ThursdayExploring the wild wild East, and back in time to get properly dressed for theGala Evening. On this LEF this evening highlight is already celebrated onThursday so no departure stress next morning. And no dancing with tearsin your eyes. Yet.

FridayIts not over until its over (thanks to Rocky VI for this meaningful phra-se!). The last day of LEF ends with the Closing Ceremony followed by theLEF Ending party. Share your last reserves, because this evening will be

Uniting People is the motto of the LEO EUROPA FORUM, which will take place in August 2010 near this historical place.One of the principal pillars of the LEO movement is the idea of peaceful coexistence the same idea that united thepeople of Europe 21 years ago. In 2010 this European idea will be celebrated anew at the very same site.LEOs from all over the world, LIONS, politicians and citizens from the Austrian and Hungarian border regions will cometogether in order to celebrate a free, borderless Europe. Therefore, `Uniting People as the motto of this LEO EUROPAFORUM is the perfect message to send to Austria, to Hungary, to Europe and to the world. And it will be sent from theperfect location: Sopronpuszta.

The Social Activity day should remind us of what we are: LEOs. Weare realizing the Perfect Day for Romanian children in need. We usethis Forum activity to prepare Christmas presents for more than 6,000children which will be given to the organisation of Frater Csaba Bjtebefore 24th December. The symbolic delivery will be made by the theorga teams of LEF 2010 and LEF 2011 and will be the inofcial ending

of this Europe-wide Social Activity. We ask you to bring a shoe boxwith presents for children to LEF including among other things toys,cloths, writing materials, sweets and sanitation products. As you can see on the pages before, the program of LEF 2010 is exciting. Even more exciting will be the nights!We will have a separate area of the hotel restaurant in combination with the big park. We are in the middleof nowhere, so we have the opportunity to party LEO style. Long, until the End and in original LEF style thatmeans some crazy theme parties. Bring your dresses to the Forum, be creative in pimping yourself and keepthe good mood until the end of the week.

Tuesday 24th: Austrian & Hungarian Party dress red and/or green everybody can be a Red or Green Guy!

Wednesday 25th: After one whole day of working or a great and noble Social Activity lets dress like some guyswho did other great things. Be invited to the Elvis & Marylin Party!

LEO presentation workshops:

Monday is the Presentation of the Countries Day. The rst half be will be reserved for the participating dele-gation to present their LEO work in their countries. So please Misters and Misses Delegation Leaders: Make ashort powerpoint presentation (max. 5 minutes) to show your LEO projects of the last years.

LEO development workshops:For Wednesday morning the LEO workshops are xed. This will be one of the most important parts of LEF 2010.All topics concern the further evolutions of European/worldwide LEO movement.Check the workshops in advance so you can chose easier on LEF which one you want to participate.

It will be warm!With a little luck we will have nice weather the whole week. The Forum is dated in the end of August so the summeris already nearing its end. It will be warmer than in Beg Meil but it will also be cooler than in Cappadocia 2008 andBussolengo 2009. Dress adequate but dont forget an umbrella for worst case. The orga team has two of them butwe will need it for the guided tours through Vienna.

It will be hot!On some of the evenings there will be theme parties so please check on page 105 for thedress code. Be as creative as always and get dressed for the night!

the exchange rate EURO:Forint is about 1:270. For the partys you can pay with vouchersyou can buy with EURO, for shopping we recommend you to get some local currency.In the Hotel bar and at the LEO Parties you can pay with vouchers or you can pay atcheck-out with HUF or by credit card.But good to know: There is an ATM around 200 m from Hotel Fagus!

Local Cuisine

There is more than Goulash and Wiener Schnitzel and we can prove it! The typical foodis widespread, meat, vegetables, sh and famous sweet dishes. If you have special

demands (vegetarian, vegan, allergies, no pork, no alcohol, ) please declare themat the registration.

Hotel RoomsHotel Fagus offers the LEF participants single and double rooms. So have fun alone,with a LEO friend or whomever you want. Internet access is possible for a little amountof money.

Smoking ...... is strictly prohibited in the indoor area of the hotel. It activates the re-alarm andall the costs will be charged for the smoker. Smoking is allowed only outside and inthe Room 124 - we are sure you will nd this. ;-)

Damages...... must be avoided. Please note that you are responsible for any damages youcause and everything what happens in your room.

For swimmingThe hotel has got its own spa area with sauna, gym, whirl pools and swimming pools. Lake Neusiedl is quiteclose to Sopron so you will have the opportunity to go swimming. The hotel offers towels but we suggest tobring your own big towel, swimming suit (or the Austrian speciality Nockerl Hose), ip-ops and suncream.

For the LEO Pan-european PicnicPlease bring a blanket to sit on. Just like in the movies :).

For the Social ActivityWe already wrote that on page 9 but please help us in organizing one of the greatest international LEO SocialActivities: we need shoe boxes, toys, sweets, clothes, school stuff, sanitation products and writing materials.Thanks in advance.

How to come to LEFWell there are quite a lot of possibilities to go to Sopron for us it is not difcult because it is not too far.For all the other LEO delegations: come by plane, by train, by car or whatever you nd. If you come

By plane

We recommend going to Vienna International Airport by car it is only about 45 minutes from Sopron. If youchose this option we can pick you up by bus.If you arrive at Bratislava (SK) or Budapest (HU) Airport let us know we will organize mini-busses to bring youto Hotel Fagus. For this occasion we have to demand a little fee of 20 .

By train

The best way to go to Sopron is to pass by Vienna. From there you take the local train from Vienna Meidlingwhich goes directly to Sopron every hour.

By car

It depends from which direction you come:

Passing Austria/Vienna: Take the highway A3 (E60) until it ends at Wulkaprodersdorf then the A-Road 16 (inAT)/84 (in HU) until you reach Sopron.

Passing Austria/Graz: Take the highway A2 (E59), change at Katzlsdorf to S4 then at Pttelsdorf to S31 untilWulkaprodersdorf then the A-Road 16 (in AT)/84 (in HU) until you reach Sopron.

Passing Hungary/Budapest: Take the highway M1 (E75/E60) until Gyr then A-Road 86 until it ends at Nagy-cenk then the A-Road 84 until you reach Sopron.

Well this should be no problem. What we can offer you is to show you the capital of Hungary during the daysbefore LEF starts.Besides the historical and architectural attractions the LEOs from Budapest will be pleased to show you theircity during the day and during the nights.So you will have the possibility to visit two European capitals during one LEF. Thats new :)

We can organize affordable accommodation for you, or you can find one on your own if you like. The Prepro-gram starts on Wednesday 18th August, the big highlight will be the 20th its THE national holiday in Hungary.So get a mustache, check some Hungarian Forint and get into party mood even before the official LEF startsin Sopron.
