The Meaning of Division

My definition:

Division means putting things into groups.

It also means separating things equally but there is also going to be a remainder every once in a while.

Dictionary definition:

Separate: distribute: share

Steps From the Video in Order

1.Divide

2.Multiply

3.Subtract

4.Bring the number down

5.Last is CHECK

1st: Divide

So, 2 can go into 3 once so the student put the 1 over the 3.

See the student put the 1 over the 3.

2nd:Multiply

Next the student multiplied 2x1=2 so, the student put the 2 under the 3.

3rd:Subtract

Then the student subtracted 3-2=1 so, the student brought down the 8. The number is 18.

4th:Multipling Again

Again the student did 9x2=18 so, the student put the 18 under the other 18.

5th:Subtracting Again

Again the student subtracted 18-18=0 so, we are finished doing the work.

6th:CheckSo 0 is smaller than 2 so the students answer is reasonable. So the answer is 19.
